The in hotel breakfast is wonderful and worth the price. However the front desk staff consists of young ladies hired for their looks. They were inattentive, offered no suggestions or advice. I asked one desk clerk how far the Hofbrauhaus was and she looked at me (while reapplying her lipstick) and said, "which one, there are many in Munich". Seriously? Then she explained that none of the desk ladies are German, so they shouldn't be expected to know such things. We asked for directions to the train station and we were quickly shown a tiny map on one of the ladies's cell phone. Utterly useless.

It's great if it's used and described as a cold dip pool for after sauna. The courtyard and the was poorly kept up. The gardener must have quit. Overgrown courtyard area and weeds out front. Our room was moldy smelling. The balcony had no chairs and faced a metal recycle facility that started operations at 6am and ended at 9am! Note: family rooms all face this facility- not great for kids. No ice machine. On the other hand, It is located south of the city center 10 min U-Bahn ride. Room was acceptably clean (besides odor) and bathroom updated. Room was plan with no decor. No in room fridge. The front desk staff was friendly. Bar staff was stressed out or not the friendliest. I've stayed in Holidsy Inn hotels in Europe and had great experiences, this was not one.

This hotel is in a business/suburban area so not much in the way of nightlife etc. However, the UBahn is 2 blocks away and gets you to Marienplatz in 15-20 minutes. As a bonus, it's quiet at night. Other info: Wifi is pay (€10/day) but 1 hour free for Priority Club members. Breakfast is €20 which is very expensive - skip it. Overall, a good stay at a decent, if a bit dated, property.

We had their breakfast buffet which was good and hardy. Scrambled eggs, german sausages, bacon, pancakes, crossants, coffee, tea, juices and much more. Close by a block away is a grocery store and drug store. The subway stop is about a 5 min walk. I would recommend this place for your stay in Munich.

So we would go to the airport information counter and they always find you a suitable hotel to stay. This is how we discovered the Hotel Carmen. Granted, it is a bit out of the way from the city center, but this is not exactly a bad thing, nestled in a quiet residential area, the hotel is clearly a place where local European business travelers stay. So you get a lot of the amenities we are used to in the US, like connectivity. The rooms are quite comfortable, nice and clean, and we always enjoyed people watching during breakfast, seeing all the different business travelers from Europe and their fashions, it is very entertaining and interesting. We have returned to Munich several times since the time we got "stuck" there, and Hotel Carmen is always our hotel of choice, they have yet to disappoint.

The hotel is right around the corner from the Oktoberfest grounds, a 10 minute walk to the Pauliner bierhall and there is a subway stop right in front of the hotel as well!! It wasn't terribly priced and was very close to the Wiesen. And as we didn't have table reservations, we wanted something close to the grounds so we could show up early. The design is very cool. Modern with a cool Bavarian charm. The staff was great and spoke very good English which helps as my German was elementary at best. The rooms are clean big enough, and have a little balcony with ample fresh air. The other amenities are good as well. The bar was small and intimate but what makes this place is the amazing German breakfast. It's everything you expect from a German breakfast and more. Grab your food and sit on the patio area to take in the morning air. Overall I was so impressed I would absolutely book again for my next Oktoberfest.

Located about 400m from nearest ubahn station. Not a bad walk down and then you're only a couple of stops from the centre of the city. Rooms are clean, the bed was comfy and there's a great shower! Breakfast was included in the room rate and is served from 7am - 10am. Great selection of continental breakfast items. Although I stuck to granola with yogurt or bread rolls with nutella - yum! Also serving good beer / cocktails in the bar which is always a nice way to finish off a busy touristy day!
