Claudia was amazing during my journey. She supported me physically, emotionally and mentally. She…read moremade herself available to me where I was, at home in Broward or at the hospital in Miami. During the prenatal stages, she explained to me what to expect and answered all of my questions. She taught me exercises that help to relieve the pains of pregnancy and labor. While I was in labor she helped me advocate for myself, to express my wishes for the birth, even when the doctors were pushy, for example about the epidural. With her help, I was able to manage the contractions' pains. She was there with me physically applying pressure to ease the labor pains and reminding me to change positions every so often to progress the delivery. This is in contrast to my doctors who passively waited for active labor to begin. They actually remarked with certainty that my baby was not coming until the following day-- but with all the bouncing, walking, and stretching, to their surprise my baby arrived the same day only 45 minutes later! After delivery, Claudia came to visit and check on me and my little one providing guidance through this next chapter. I truly believe my unmedicated delivery was a success thanks to her support. She was an amazing help for this inexperience first time mom. From my husband's perspective: I was quite impressed that Claudia committed to visiting us at our home on several occasions prior to the delivery. From the very first meeting, Claudia clearly expressed that the birth of our daughter was a team effort, and that was ultimately borne out. Claudia provided us with exercises, techniques, and perspectives that allowed me to aid my wife in dismantling stress, alleviating discomfort, and buttressing her self confidence when the pressure of the third trimester and upcoming delivery became acute. You could say that the delivery began long, long before we ever reached the hospital-- and Claudia supported us the whole way through to post-partum in person, over the phone, or via group text. I have to say that as a man, many of the exercises Claudia taught us brought me closer to my wife and yet-unborn daughter than I previously thought possible. It was a rewarding experience I look upon fondly. I highly recommend Claudia as a doula for all of the above and more. Of course she did the things that one may expect from a doula, such as demystifying all the things that come up during delivery, or passing along exercises and techniques that honestly should be part of every prenatal education course, or simply being supportively present with warmth and professionalism, but there are certain intangible benefits to having a wealth of knowledge and experience available to facilitate what is, at once, the most humbling, beautiful, and terrifying moment of one's life. I believe my wife and my daughter are better off because of Claudia and I am so appreciative of all that she did for us.

Their care is exceptional before birth, during birth, and postpartum. They even come to you for appointments, which is a huge plus--especially when you have other kids. My husband loved being involved and catching our baby at the birth center, but he was still concerned about living far from a hospital if something were to happen at home. We went through every possible risk with them, and thanks to their hospital experience, they've seen so much that they truly know the risks, solutions, and options. They made us feel safe and confident, encouraged us to trust our instincts, and always made sure we knew they had our backs. Once we had all the information, we knew home birth was the right choice for us--and we are so incredibly grateful we did it. Being able to text or call them anytime--whether you have concerns or aren't sure if it's real labor or just a false alarm--takes away so much stress. You can't control birth, but with them, you feel empowered--you're able to follow your instincts, move freely, and stay connected to the process. They work with you (your baby and partner) to guide you, support you, and take action if anything doesn't go smoothly. Knowing you're in such good hands makes you feel safe and protected, giving you the space to really stay connected to the process, and feel deeply empowered. And being at home makes everything so smooth and personal--your own space, your comfort, your shower/bath, your own warm birthing pool, surrounded by people you know. There's no stress of delivering in an uncomfortable car ride, no unnecessary interventions, no pressure of time. You can choose to have your other children with you if you wish. Did I mention the shower and the warm pool?! It feels sooooo good. Welcoming your baby this way and then staying together in your calm, cozy bubble, surrounded by warm water and peace, is so magical. I honestly believe my birth would not have been the same--or nearly as amazing--without them. They changed everything. Having them as your birth team gives you the best chance to experience the birth you dream of.

When I found out I was…read morepregnant (37 years old) I knew I didn't want a hospital birth but I wanted to be at a facility that was near a hospital just in case. I called nearly every midwife and every location in Miami and around. I ended up going with magnolia even though it was far. But towards the end my husbands and my gut was telling us this wasn't the place. I still hadn't met the midwives that were going to attend my birth in that practice after being ther over 6 months! , just students etc. it just felt very disconnected and we decided to leave at around 7 months. (I wanted to feel secure in my decision of magnolia and I waited and waited but never did.) I ended up going the homebirth route after much thinking, found a midwife from a recommendation. (Won't mention her name because she apologized for what happened & returned my money). I debated in getting a doula until the last minute, which was Lili (from midwives of Miami), best decision i ever made. I followed my gut! My water broke 10 days before my due date. Lily was in my house in less than hour. I never felt alone w her. She asked me to also text my midwife and I did... but my midwife kept pressuring me about giving birth within 24hrs or she would have to hand me to a hospital.. which created more stress because my labor kept stalling. Well long story short, My midwife never showed up. So in the middle of my labor I no longer had anyone to help me in my birth. I was devastated, my labor completely stopped from the stress. Lily with me through the entire time, kept trying to give me hope and options... and tried to keep me calm. She said her best friend was a midwife and we could make it happen. But I didn't know Lily too much or anyone else. So I decided to take a leap of faith because I did not want an unwarranted hospital transfer. Lily came through brought Melanie, sheily and Ana. These women showed up for me last minute so I wouldn't be left alone. They left from work and came to my home to help me deliver this baby at home. With confidence!! Between them all they had so much experience in the medical field, specifically labor & delivery. (Years of experience). So I felt confident in their ability. But they trusted my ability to give birth to his baby more and I felt it! Melanie was an angel on earth, such calm. Her calm made me feel calm. I needed coaching towards the end and I followed, then my baby was out in no time!! They all acted so quick! In everything. Melanie sowed me back up, right there on my bed. Then I went straight to sleep after breastfeeding. They cleaned everything up. And I rested. I will be forever grateful for them all and for coming through in such short notice. These are the women you want on your side!! Because they TRULY love what they do! You can see& feel it. Now Lily offers postpartum care... I would jump on it all!! I wish that was an option back then. Couldn't have done it without Lily. My husband was there with me every second, but there's something about having a woman with experience there for you. My baby is about to turn a year old, and I can't wait to tell him about the angels God send my way. Love you girls so much. Thank you for the bottom of my heart I will never forget you. Ps I have to add this, Melanie never lied to me when i asked how much I have left or anything Which I appreciate! Also, they are very pro choice without judgement!! And Dr Ana now has her practice. Mariela is incredibly professional, respectful, experienced and so kind! Mariela's help was crucial during my first 5 weeks caring for my newborn daughter. Having Mariela's support at night gave me more opportunities to rest and be present during the day for my whole family. Additionally, her work as a lactation consultant was amazing. My daughter had a lot of feeding issues in the beginning and I was able to consult with Mariela and get the guidance and support we needed. Also, I learned so much about newborn care as a whole and I'm not even a first time mom. Overall, my postpartum journey has been so much more manageable, enjoyable and peaceful this time around and I can confidently say Mariela's support had everything to do with that. Don't have enough visits with this doctor to be 100% sure about her doctor skills, but we took our…read morebaby 4 times to her office, and the personal was really nice, but we waited over 90 minutes on every time we went there. I think the national average is between 10 to 20 minutes, and I can take 30 minutes wait but 90 minutes every time we went is too much! Last time we waited for more then 2 hours. In our experience we didnt like her so we just changed. Hate when doctors think their time is valuable, not ours! Would not recomend her at all, by the way she isnt really nice either.
