Then I came across this market. I spied a salad stall, and decided to go for that. After all, it was pretty decently priced at £4 for a large box of sundried tomatoes, cous cous, aubergines, beans and other vegetables. To my surprise, the salad also came with a thick chunk of Turkish bread, which made it even better value for money. There's an assortment of other stalls here as well - Mexican, Thai, falafels - and they're here Monday to Friday.

They've long been a favourite of mine. Firstly, finding the place is easy. There's loads of signage from right outside Vauxhall train station. It looks like a bit of a dingy area but once you go down the alley it's like you've gone through the looking glass into an urban oasis. Suddenly there's an ice cream place, a van that does pizzas, and a really good looking Vietnamese place. There are loos on sight and more seats than you can shake a stick at. Oh, did I mention that there's a proper bar too? This is the most exciting urban development since the opening of box park. The only reason why I've given it four is that the weather was a bit overcast and so there wasn't hordes of people, so I didn't get a vibe from it. That'll come over time with people, because like them, I'll be back for more. Spread the word!

I quickly became a regular as frankly, there's nothing bad on the menu but some things are just really exceptional. For one, the chicken tinga is the best I've had - period. It's slow cooked with slices of chorizo and is so flavourful it's unbelievable. Just thinking about it now is making my mouth water. The pulled pork is also really good and is right up there with my favourites anywhere - you can tell that they haven't just dumped the same spice mix on both - and although they don't advertise it, they're more than happy to give you a half and half if you want both. But their burritos are more than just that - they make their own guacamole and it's just brilliant, and something I don't normally praise at a Mexican place - the salad accompaniments are also really good. The cabbage slaw is a particular favourite and goes really well with the pork. Their hot sauces are also made in house and the chipotle one is just awesome. This area has an over abundance of Mexican burrito places now with three within a few minutes walk - but the fact that you will have to queue for at least five minutes to get served at Santana Grill is a testiment of the quality that they produce. If you're like me and don't want to try to eat a messy burrito at your desk then you can get it in a box too - and trust me, they don't skimp on the portions!! I've eaten at quite a few different Mexican places around London and I rate Santana Grill and Daddy Donkey as the two very best.

But there were some very lovely and juicy bites in there, and the apple sauce is a nice touch. Worth a try, though I'd get someone to split it with you as it's quite hefty.

Think of a falafel wrap, but with Seitan instead of chickpea balls. It was so good that my babygirl who normally is quite indifferent towards middle eastern food, gobbled up more than her fair share of the wrap. I was quite proud of that girl! Don't forget to ask for a side of hot sauce. Very friendly service and the wrap came out at lighting speed despite being fairly busy. They DO NOT skimp on the filling here. That bad boy was quite girthy! It was also fairly reasonably priced @ £7.95 or so. In addition to the doner, they serve some sort of pizza and some salads. Now, don't be fooled into comparing this London incarnation to the 2 famous Philly Cheesesteak venues because those 2 spots are tourist traps. You want to compare this to the 'hood joints where you get your sammiches & these guys are well up to scratch!! The meat is in abundance & while I'm not so sure these are authentic Amoroso rolls, they are pretty darn close. Things your cheesesteak should be...Cooked using water - yup, oil is not used in the hoody versions; have a mouth-watering smell of flavour when you unwrap it. Hot, flavourful; meat, cheese and onions should become one unit of deliciousness. These are defo delicious but didn't have the steam aroma when I unwrapped it & they're cooked using oil but were not greasy - thank goodness. Original cheesesteaks may be cooked with mushrooms or hots and the ketchup and/or mustard are added before the meat goes onto the roll. These guys don't offer those varieties but I assure you, these are darn good versions of my beloved Philly Original. I noticed they're offering the Philly pork sandwich so I'll be back to sample that too. Well done guys, very well done! P.S. So I was quite surprised when I saw Liberty Cheesesteak in the listing of places at the Yelp Red event. Immediately I started Googling and found out that a) they looked like some tasty cheesesteaks and b) that I wasn't going to be able to try it until at the Yelp event. My other half was able to try it out though before the event and was suitably impressed. I was so excited to try and eagerly went for my cheesesteak taster and thought, meh. It's fine but a bit dry or something. My husband though insisted it was just because of the making-ahead-bulk-nature of trying to feed eleventy million hungry Yelpers at once and that it was better fresh. So today I hopped on a bus at lunchtime to go to the Mayfair Market at Brown Hart Gardens. Never had been there before and I was impressed with the location - up a flight of stairs, but loads and loads of seating and generally relaxed, with a handful of food choices. Of course for me there was no choice, just meeeeaaaattttt. I found the tiny stand and determined that no one was queuing to order, and eagerly placed my order for a half with onions and cheese whiz. There were about 10 orders ahead of me but the line cleared quickly and I soon had my sandwich. There was a small mix up and I ended up with a whole instead of a half. Such mistakes are fine by me! I was rewarded for my persistence. The meat was well seasoned with a nice peppery taste, and the Italian roll soft but chewy in a nice way. The onions were soft but not sweet, and the whiz was savoury and salty and unhealthy tasting, just like I wanted. 2 tiny niggles were that I had a couple of pieces of meat that could have been trimmed a bit better - but I'm a complete fuss pot and no one else would probably notice. And I would have liked more cheese. But I always want more cheese, and I'm sure if I asked for heavy on the cheese next time that I wouldn't be denied. Definitely better than the cheesesteak I had in Philadelphia from Geno's. Now to just figure out how to follow them around and be a cheesesteak groupie without seeming like a weirdo...
