Well Being specialises in Holistic healing and offers a diverse range of therapies: from reiki,…read morearomatherapy, facials and massage to hypnotherapy, crystal healing and past life regression. Obviously this sort of thing doesn't appeal to everyone, and I myself have little experience of or interest in holistics, however the therapies are unusual and quite rare in the area and I'm sure lots of people will be pleased to have such amenities. Weekly workshops are held at the Well Barn: Yoga, African drumming and Psychic development which are only around £6 a session. Again these are quite specialist classes; they are fascinating and quite original and will appeal to many I am sure. There is a beautiful shop at the Well Barn selling an extensive range of gifts such as crystals, incense, tarot cards, Buddhas and angels, jewellery and cds. A unique venture set in a lovely rural area.

Thanks Mr Gill Orthopedic surgeon and your sloppy scalpel I will NEVER forgive your incompetence and the devastating effect it has had on me Steer clear people of Salford. Not the first mistake at this hospital nor the last. Clearly being from Salford seems us lesser mortals and not worthy of competent care Gill is a Liability. Despite complaining he remains in post. Salford Royal is a large, modern hospital, around five miles from Manchester city centre, if…read moreheading here from the city centre, you can hop on the 34/67/100 buses, and it takes around 20 minutes or so, which would be your best bet, as parking is a nightmare. One of the largest hospitals in the area, but may feel under-appreciated or underused with the Manchester Royal Infirmary only a short drive away, which is the largest hospital in the country by the number of beds. The hospital was redeveloped in the early 2010s which was much needed, and the refreshed look still feels modern to this day, it is fairly easy to get around the hospital and find where you need to go, the environment is clean, and the staff are friendly, with overly good standards. I did find a huge contrast between certain areas and wings of the hospital, even down to the modern features and comfort of the chairs, but it is the NHS... you can't expect too much. It's surprisingly easy to get through to someone at the hospital's switchboard, and I was passed to my consultant's secretary and appointment line in a matter of minutes, which is how it should be, while other hospitals can be much more inconsistent. Mobile Signal in the hospital is weak, likely down to equipment interfering with the connection. 4*

The newly built Vallance Centre was desperately needed to replace the crumbling Brunswick Health…read moreCentre. The Vallance Centre is purpose build for the needs of local people and it really shows. Whereas the Brunswick Health Centre felt rushed and under pressure, the Vallance site appears sleek and calm. You can sign up in a couple of days and most people won't have to give a full medical although they may take some blood and urine samples for their records. There is also a useful online booking service. The centre is modern and clean, but if you want a more family oriented practice I'd head to Surrey Lodge which has a more 'traditional feel'. Most people who live in the University/Ardwick area will find they are within the geographical zones for both. They also now offer the following services: Accupuncture Asthma Clinic Cardiovascular Screening Clinical Smears Child Health Counselling Diabetic Clinics Dietary Advice District Nursing Drug Clinic Health Visiting Maternity Medical Services Minor Surgery Nurse Triage Over 75 Checks Physiotherapy Private Medicals Screening Services Smoking Cessation Travel Clinic Well Person Clinic Wart Clinic

If you had a weight problem, you could burn a fair few pounds off walking to the Surgery from some of the less central halls of residence. I signed up to be a patient here in my first week of University, and have only had to visit once, and that was when I was taking care of a friend. From her account, the care taken by the staff and partners here was exemplary, and she enjoyed the experience as much as she could, considering her circumstances! From my point of view, sat in the waiting room, I thought that the venue was a fantastic choice for a Surgery. It does not feel overly 'surgical', and it definitely works in the favour of the partners, as there is not a pressured atmosphere when waiting for an appointment. You can book appointments online through their website, which is very handy when you are planning for an appointment in advance. Otherwise, the schedule can become very busy, and you may have to wait a while for an emergency appointment. The Centre also offers a wide range of different medical-related services, including Acupuncture. Hopefully, I wont have to visit the Vallance Centre much, although, if I do, at least I know where it is, and know that it is not like a small extension of God's Waiting Room. For a surgery, it is as good as it could be.
