The gym has sooo many machines and their hours are great! The staff is so welcoming !

Easy checking in, friendly guys and love the vibe this place was giving! Highly recommend this place and area if you're around! I travel year round for work, and as such, I have to find gyms everywhere I go. I found an absolute gem with Wowie's! This place has more equipment than you'll ever need, and is by far the most versatile and unique gym I've ever been to. From CrossFit, rock climbing, space for calisthenics, machines, and free weights, this place has it all. Wowies Gym is one of the best gyms I've ever worked out at. It is loaded with authentic, top quality weightlifting equipment, has plenty of cardio machines and lots of wide open space in the back for Cross Fit, streteching, boxing, etc. There is nothing that this gym does not have. A reviewer a few months ago posted a poor review without ever working out at the gym! Dont read it and dont listen to it. If you want a good workout in Gallup, this is the only place to be. A family run, locally owned gym with excellent service, a fantastic vibe and friendly people. read more

Wowies is a great gym! Wowie and Tina are amazing people and everyone at the gym was super friendly and welcoming. The equipment is clean and works perfectly. Pretty decent gym. $5 for a day pass (at the time of this review). It's an old school gym for sure but equipped well enough that pretty much anyone can get a variety of workouts done. Most of the equipment is old. Like pretty damn old. But that's irrelevant for most of the pieces, since its just steel and pads and they don't really go bad. Some show their age, such as not being adjustable or ergonomic. However the Crossfit section is nicely equipped and much newer. I didn't use the cardio equipment. The place isn't crowded with people as it is with equipment. They seem to have accumulated too much old stuff that is left unused and taking up floor real estate that could be better used for more commonly used equipment. There's also no water fountain. So bring a water bottle or they sell bottled water for $1. Despite my few complaints it's a great value for your buck, especially if you are looking for a good place to move some iron. I'll be returning. read more

Where do I start! What a gym. Take the best parts of a globogym, Crossfit gym, boxing and kickboxing gym, your nostalgic high school gym, put it all in one place, and you'll get Wowies. Strange place, this gym is well-equipped. It smells like an old gym. I guess I'm a little spoiled from the gyms in Las Vegas. It has to be great for the body builder. I just found it a little unwelcoming and odd. Wowie is a nice guy but a little preoccupied with purchasing a car for his sister at the moment. There was no offer of a tour or day pass and I had to wait for his phone conversation with someone in the car business. He did mention that memberships were $40 per month. With a little questioning, he did mention a day pass for $5. But that was because I saw another Yelper provide that information. There was one other person in the gym this morning and heavy metal music on the speakers. In the office are trophies lining the wall of body building events. There's a blender for your protein shakes and a small glass front frig for energy drinks to be purchased. It's big for a gym in the desert, impressive but a little archaic. In the back is a room for classes and cardio, perhaps Zumba and martial arts. But most of the gym is filled with weight machines and dumbbells. There are a few motivational sayings on the walls that may make sense to someone. There are no TVs with sports, news or motivation. Bring your own soundtrack if you are going to stay. It's a gym alright. But I'm ready to drive to Albuquerque for my workout. Next time I stay with family out in Gallup, I'll try one of the other gyms. Perhaps they'll welcome my membership. Just a note, be mindful of the area. The parking lot is dimly lit at night. There is a gas station and Teriyaki House in the same shopping area. But the gym is in the far corner. Good or bad, be careful. There are quite a few transients walking the main road, like some sort of homeless migration in the mornings and evenings. This gym is a filthy dirty dump, barely meeting even the low standards of Gallup. I don't believe any of the other info on Yelp... They seem like they were paid reviews. As one of the only gyms in town, it is pretty clear Wowie hasn't had any real competition & thus has put little money back into the business. I took a tour of the place and immeadiately noticed the smell. All of the equipment I saw was old, worn out & dirty. There are a fair amount of free weights which I will give him credit for. However, the ventilation system is poor and I didn't notice any Cleaning wipes anywhere. This place could quite easily be ground zero for infectious disease epidemic in this town. I have lived in big cities that have much higher costs than GALLUP and all I can say is this town is ripe for an Anytime Fitness or any other chain that has ANY standards to open. This place is expensive for what it is, smelly, dirty & worn out. read more

This isn't an actual crossfit gym, but they have all the equipment and there enough people that do it that they put on their own little class in the evenings. No set times or schedule, but Justin is usually the guy that programs the wods, and they are challenging to say the least. Go in, check it out. Wowie is a cool dude. He and many others there are willing to help if there are any questions on movements and technique. read more

I really like this gym, it's big and sectioned of between body weight exercises and weightlifting area. Yes the equipment is older and not in the best shape but it's functional and I rarely have to wait for equipment. Every one I've met there is friendly and willing to assist if you have questions. I've been enjoying messing around with the rings and adult monkey bars worked in with my heavy lifting and cardio Muay Thai. Ample space to create and execute almost any work out. read more
