Stephen & Sonia did our wedding on 10/1/16 in a sort of unique location (Marine Park, Cascade…read moreLocks, OR- reception on the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler), and were amazing to work with. We were actually set on somebody else (George Street, if you must know), but my fiancé loved them when they talked on the phone, and I reluctantly agreed to pay a little bit more. I'm glad I did. These two are 110% engaged in shooting your day. They went with the flow, made appropriate suggestions to keep us on schedule, and shot our wedding like it was their own. Watching them interact and get excited about different locations and scenery around Marine Park was awesome. They were patient with our improvisational style, they were never shaken by our, "I don't know, it'll just happen maybe around this time." responses. I never wanted a "friend" to shoot my wedding, but it felt like these two were friends. They captured US and rolled with us where other would've wanted more structure. They just "get it". They practically felt like part of our Bridal Party by the end. They knew when to standby, when to move us, and when to just leave us alone--- they have the sixth sense of awesome photographers. I'll highly recommend them to anybody. Thanks for helping to make our wedding an awesome experience.

We reviewed many photographers who had no business taking pictures let alone calling themselves professionals. We came upon About The Day and the photographs spoke for themselves. It was obvious that the photographer(s) who took these pictures knew what they were doing and had earned the right to be called a professional. Planning for a wedding is hard enough and talking to most vendors is awkward, but not with About The Day! We spoke to Stephen and he was friendly and helpful. Imagine calling an old friend to catch up, that was what it was like to speak to Stephen and Sonia. We went through details and within the month we had booked About The Day to take our wedding pictures. We just got our pictures and they are OH MY Goodness AMAZING! I have no regrets from Stephen and his wife Sonia, what an amazing pair. They put in extra time to make sure everything was perfect for us and to make sure we were comfortable. We thought it would be uncomfortable taking pictures but I can honestly say it was easier taking pictures with them then it was with family and friends. The reason for this.. We trusted them to know their stuff and to make sure the pictures were FANTASTIC! They were also one of the few great photographers who are Apple mobile device compatible. So if you want to see photographers pictures on your iPad or iPhone keep this in mind. They offer military discount and this meant a lot to us. A few pieces of advice: Book early, we booked 1 yr 4 months before wedding to lock in our date. Pay a little extra for the upgraded packages, it is worth it. Having both Stephen and Sonia gave us extra angles and two fantastic photographer. Any questions please call Stephen or Sonia and I am sure they will be happy to talk to you, no obligation. We cannot wait to have another event where I can book their service! May God Bless you both!

Had an on location photographer cancel at the last moment for once in a life time family pictures…read moreand we ended up at JCpenny's photography studio. We got an amazing photographer, way better then the photographer that canceled on us. The JC Penny photographer made a point in learning everyone's name and using them. That made all of us, including the kids, feel comfortable and relaxed. She was skilled in getting very natural looks from us and getting great shots. She did formal, casual and fun character pictures that really captured everyone's personalities. She even got our non-smiler to give a true happy smile in one picture. 1st photographer that is not family to do that. What JC Penny photography studio has in comparison: -digital pictures, can I just sing the praises of finally getting all the digital pictures to share with family without having to pay life and limb to get a few. - Prices are very reasonable, the total was 25% less than other photographers and that includes the digital pictures! -Specials are very good, with the seasonal special it was 50% less then the other photographer for more prints and DIGITAL PRINTS!!!! I will be finding out the name of our JC Penny photographer and she will be doing all of our pictures from now on.

I decided to bring my 1 year old grandson in for photos as a surprise for my daughter for…read moreChristmas. I made an appt for 12:30 and arrived at 12:15. We waited until 12:28 before anyone addressed us. The studio was crowded as can be expected before the holidays and they had 3 people working. They need more. We started after our start time which was frustrating when making an appt ahead of time Our photographer was brand new and it showed. She was nice but she was SO SLOW to take the photos that she missed my grandson smiling numerous times. She did not have any creative ideas and she did not pay attention to detail. I had to stand behind her and try to make my grandson smile, fix his collar, and fix the seam in the rug he was sitting on. There was no suggestion for props or poses. There were several times when my grandson would do something cute or smile and she would be so delayed in taking a photo that she missed the moment. Santa Clause was there and came in to take a photo with my grandson and at one point he even said, "take the photo". It was a very frustrating experience. We then had to wait for 25 min to view the photos. When we did get to see them, we were very underwhelmed. They had taken 10 photos that we could view. Many were not centered, many had parts of the backdrop cut off, they were just not great. The manager who was helping us recognized this and offered to have us come back later in the day to have her take his photos but as anyone knows with a 1 year old, it is hard to plan around naps and this was not going to work. The manager did waive the 14.99 sitting fee, thankfully. But all told, we spent an hour and a half and paid 65.00 for 3 prints and a frame of photos that are just meh. Super disappointing experience.
