It's an actual thing here in Cuba, Missouri. The "second" largest rocker in the world. The real questions that this brings up is "which is the largest?" On your journey on Route 66, you'll be encountering this mahogany red rocker located next to a small souvenir shop that no longer seems to be in operation. The rocker is definitely large and intimidating in size, and folks can climb on it to take some amusing photos as part of their road trip. Aside from a closed shop and some murals, there really isn't much else going on at the World's Second Largest Rocker. Snap some shots to share with your friends and family, and then be on your merry way to the rest of your journey. Admission is free because it's literally sitting outside waiting for a giant baby to come and use its wooden mechanics.

Always a great time stopping in the outpost! That rocking chair is just the start! Check out the inside for yummy popcorn and over 400 glass bottle sodas.

On our drive from Kansas City to St. Louis, my girlfriend and I took a detour south to Cuba. Noooo,…read morenot that Cuba, but Cuba, Missouri to Bob's Gasoline Alley. We specifically plotted this route on our GPS so that we could pass thru this cool outdoor museum-like area. To sum it up, it was a pretty interesting stop on the way. It was a bit off the beaten path as we had to traverse thru some very quiet areas and creeks, but this very unique outdoor gas station memorabilia museum exists in the middle of nowhere. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth taking a few photographs as you make your way thru Route 66. There were hundreds of pieces of vintage gas station memorabilia on display and no one in the vicinity when we made our stop so we had the whole area to ourselves. There were a few cars that passed by, but all of them just drove by. It makes for a nice 15-minute break from a long drive as it is a great chance to get out to stretch and take a few photos.

I'm a HUGE fan of all things vintage, so seeing the antique cars an sign along Route 66 sparked my curiosity. We got off the nearest exit, took some back roads, and finally arrived to the Mecca of all things Vintage - Bob's! Located in a quiet, remote area of Missouri, my friends and I had no idea what to expect from this adventure. A friendly man greeted us as we snapped photos, who turned out to be Bob himself. We took some photos of all the vintage memorabilia outside - then made our way inside a restaurant - which turned out to be a catering service of sorts. We were greeted by a woman who seemed to be setting up for an upcoming event. She was very welcoming, told us to come inside and take all the pictures we wanted. She even showed us the stairway that led up to the top floor. VERY cool place!! After taking photos in the catering area, Bob gave us a tour of the land. We checked out different sheds and spaces that contained a ton of hoarded vintage collectibles. Bob was kind enough to allow us to browse around and take photos while he waited for us outside in the heat (poor guy). Not gonna lie - I actually thought we might get murdered for about 3 minutes. The place, while very interesting and unique, had a strange eery vibe about it. We walked out alive (obvs), but I was pretty vocal to my friends about the possibility and we enjoyed a few laughs thanks to it. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone who loves old school American nostalgia. Bob's will definitely be the place for you.

First a few facts: Missouri is a state in the Midwestern region of the United States. Missouri…read moreranks 21st in land area, it is bordered by eight states (tied for the most with Tennessee): Iowa to the north, Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee to the east, Arkansas to the south and Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska to the west. In the south are the Ozarks, a forested highland, providing timber, minerals, and recreation. The Missouri River flows through the center and into the Mississippi River, which makes up the eastern border. Missouri has six million residents, and is the 19th-most populous state of the country. The largest urban areas are St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield, and Columbia with the capital being Jefferson City. When I visited my friend in Missouri she lived in St. Louis so I spent a few days. She has since moved away from her home state of Missouri and lives in Kentucky. That's another State I'm familiar with visiting and living there. I always think first of the Gateway Arch. My daughter went up in the arch but I passed. I really enjoyed spending time in St Louis as there's so much history in midwestern states. There's states I still want to visit so I doubt I'll return. I will treasure my memories and I suggest you visit St. Louis when you plan a vacation. You can drive around and get to the other states nearby if you're trying to keep a record of all the states you visited!

I've spent some time here and will continue to do so happily. Missouri was the birthplace of two United States Presidents (Grant 18 and Truman 33). Other natives include author Robert Anson Heinlein, radio star Rush Limbaugh, actress Ginger Rogers, television star Bob Barker, sports star Stan Musial, newsman Walter Cronkite and Generals John Pershing and Omar Bradley. Walt Disney, Brad Pitt and Mark Twain were born in the state. Missouri is famous for barbecue, specifically baby back ribs. I'd suggest Pappy's Smokehouse in Saint Louis or Arthur Bryant's in Kansas City. Saint Louis has its own style of pizza which I don't care for but you might like it. You won't want to miss out on Cashew Chicken in Springfield and Toasted Ravioli on The Hill in Saint Louis. You'll find off off off Broadway shows in Branson (described as Las Vegas with the gambling or the prostitutes). The state is famous as the birthplace of ragtime music, a blend of Kansas City jazz and Saint Louis blues. It is the home of Anheuser-Busch beer, H&R Block and Monsanto. Pancake mix was invented in Missouri (originally by the Aunt Jemima Milling Company, since renamed) as was the ice cream cone (allegedly at the 1904 World's Fair), and 7UP soda. The first Olympics in the United States were held in Saint Louis - the 1904 Summer Games. The state hosts multiple professional sports teams - the Kansas City Chiefs, the Kansas City Royals, the Saint Louis Blues and the Saint Louis Cardinals. The Saint Louis Rams were here but moved to Los Angeles in 2016. The famous "Route 66" goes through Missouri as do interstates 35, 44, 49, 55 and 70 (with a bit of 72). While it's not my most visited state (still my home state of North Carolina), I have visited Missouri often and Yelped it a bunch: https://www.yelp.com/collection/pOeuciYPFI1kX-9JWKO36Q. Don't miss the City Museum or the Missouri History Museum in Saint Louis, the Titanic Museum in Branson, the World War I Museum in Kansas City or the Nelson-Atkins Museum in Kansas City. Missouri is deep flyover country but should not be missed for food, culture and entertainment. [Review 19961 overall - 254 in Missouri - 935 of 2023.]
