The place we stayed in is pretty awesome. 2 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Moen faucets, Kohler toilets, ginsu knives ( yes- they are actually decent), nice fridge, kenmore elite appliances, nice fans, awesome ceiling, own water heater and a Texas touch Honestly, if I owned a Cabin on 100 acres, this layout/floor plan would be look and feel that I would want. Great location. Near everything in New Braunfels. Heated pool, decent exercise room, friendly staff. Light switches are a kid height which is nice. Walking to gristmill and a few other places. Downside - really need to be Wyndham owner on a time share which IMO, timeshares are not worth it. Super friendly staff, they also have 3 arcade games ( Pac-Man, streetfighter and one other), a decent foosball table ( not a tornado table), a nice pool table and air hockey. Oh, and if you have time and aren't tired, you can rent a move - however they are $3/each/per night unless they are nice and let you have it for free. The TVs do have a VHS/DVD combo connected to them with about 40 channels that you can watch. They also have on demand but rentals are $10 - we were about to watch BOLT until we saw the $9.99 price tag The units are closely located to train tracks. The units in the back are "great candidates" to hear trains come by at night. The first night I didn't hear any;however, my wife heard a few the second night I think I heard 4 or 5. Yeah - hard to sleep when trains go by. Our son, slept through all of them. Beds are ok. Slept on better and worse. This a "timeshare unit" so if your are not a member be prepared for a sales pitch. They can be pushy and persist but they are doing their job. They are respectful, but have a job to do.

H-U-G-E! We were in TX for a 4-day event and this was the closest one I could get to San Antonio with availability. The unit was a 2 bedroom deluxe townhouse style with stairs inside. It had a maximum occupancy of 6. The problem was there was only me and the hubby and preferred a studio unit. This IS the smallest unit offered here in New Braunfels! We love our Worldmark membership, its like home away from home. After checking in at the registration office we drove to our unit and as soon as we opened the door it was like wow! the size of the unit was impressive. The master bedroom w/ King bed was downstairs, twin beds upstairs, and a Queen sofa bed in the living room. There were two sets of living rooms with flat screen TV's, each of the rooms had their own TV's as well. The kitchen was huge and as all Worldmark units fully equipped. There is a washer/dryer room and 2-1/2 baths. This was a house! The unit already has a starter supply of groceries and toiletries but HEB was just 3 miles away from the resort in case we needed to get more stuff. Unfortunately, our busy schedule did not allow us to enjoy the outdoor pool and hot tub, the recreation and fitness centers and other resort amenities. New Braunfels was 35 miles from our events in San Antonio but as we drove to and from the two cities we were able to check out the Animal World & Snake Farm and had some delicious kolaches from Shipley Donuts in New Braunfels, had Texas style BBQ at Rudy's, found a Boba Tea Lounge in Selma and visit the AT&T Center (home of the SA Spurs). The Spurs were away playing Game 3 in Houston that day. Fun times! Review #0711

The 3rd and 4th floors are completely beautiful, and the rooms were *very, very clean*. I am extremely picky about where I stay, and I can honestly say this hotel exceeded my expectations. The front desk staff was amazing--especially Ms. Cynthia, who was beyond kind and truly went above and beyond to make our stay great. There was even a Starbucks inside the hotel. The River is beautiful and the courtyard of the hotel just seals the deal. This hotel was definitely very nice, and I would 100% stay here again. I will definitely be visiting again!

The property and grounds are absolutely beautiful and peaceful. We had a large, fully equipped conference room, the Guadalupe room with a ceiling mounted projector and good WiFi. Breakfast was good and I ordered it because we wanted to start on time and not worry about getting food. They set up breakfast sandwiches and danish and coffee/water and kept it refilled. My room was 311, right in front of the pool with beautiful views of the river. The balcony was super nice and I enjoyed a little time working outside before I had to go to the conference. There was a nice desk in the room to work as well. There are many places to go outside to sit and relax, from Adirondack chairs to loungers and seating areas right near the river. Complaints: The air conditioner kept going off in the middle of the night. Also, there was some smell of mildew in the room from time to time. Otherwise, wonderful place and I will return to stay again.

Yesterday I checked in ahead of time with my arrival time and selected my room as they allowed. Specifically choosing it for its quiet location and proximity to stairs. When you do this you get a confirmation that literally says "you're checked in!" And gives you the room number and then says you can bypass the front desk and head straight to the room with your digital key. 3 pm rolls around as I'm driving into the parking lot as planned and no digital key. I go to the front desk and the gaslighting ensues: yeah they choose poor wording is the response to "I've already checked in my it says my room isn't ready". Then he tried to switch me to 415. 415 is behind elevators. The exact opposite of the quiet I selected ahead of time. Then he says or you have have 20something (this hotel is wood construction and you can hear walking on the floors above.) He says he'll take my number and call when it's ready after I say I'll wait. Nah I'll just sit in the lobby. A few minute go by and I get a notification my room is ready- 415- the room I said no thank you to. I say nothing. A few more minutes. "Your room is ready" and I come up to the desk with my cards. And he tries to give me another room- another one I didn't ask for. In the center of the hallway. And I've had it before and know it has some electrical wiring crossed in the lighting. I again decline and say I'll wait. I don't know why it has to be this difficult and dishonest/gaslit. If you're not going to honor reservations just say that so I can choose to go elsewhere.

Parking was so easy just steps from the front door. Our room was very clean. Loved the fireplace a few things that really need to be noted, is how close the hotel is to everything. It is an amazing location. We walk to our dinner reservations. They also serve wine in the lobby in the evening. The breakfast served in the morning was so good! The view from our table of the pool and the river was just beautiful. At breakfast, we all loved the yogurt parfait. It had crushed pineapple and kiwi. They had sausage, biscuits, and gravy, beautiful quiche, Pastries, so many beverage options. Everyone was so impressed. We all very much enjoyed our stay at the Gruene River Inn.

It always had a welcoming, rustic, hill-country feel to it that matched the surroundings. Our last stay I was really disappointed at the changes that had been made to the decor mostly because they make no sense and did not improve the property in any way. I sincerely hope that the owners did not pay for this decor design. It's pretty awful. (And kind of funny bc it's ALL over the place). What used to be rustic and charming now seems to be modern (gold fixtures, tiled shower, trash cans) asian (black trim, bathroom doors, headboard fabric), kitschy (lasso bedside lamps- that aren't good for reading and don't dim), with a 50's retro flair (the refrigerator and the blue tooth), and modern cowboy art on the walls. Yet, no one thought to include charging ports for electronics! It's so confusing. They pulled out the nice big tub and put in a shower that doesn't have a door and has a shower head with no pressure and no direction to it- so to say it plainly, it's difficult to get clean! Amongst all the changes perhaps fixing the toilet so it doesn't randomly run might have been a good choice. One of the reasons we use to like to stay were the delicious breakfast tacos that were provided. I don't know if they will come back or not as the lobby was under construction, but based on the decor choices my guess is they will make some equally terrible decision regarding the lobby and maybe do away with it all together? Who knows! What it has going for it is that the views are amazing (thankfully they couldn't change that or my guess is they would have)! The bed was comfortable and the towels were top notch. Maybe if you've never been before you won't find it as disturbing but I just had a hard time reconciling the fact that they paid to make the place worse. We might have to find different digs when we're in the area.

After the situation, the hotel manager that day did call to let us know how sorry she was and would work to try to make the situation right. Mr. Patel, the hotel owner, called and said he would reimburse us for the weekend with rewards points (we stayed two nights and this happened at 8 am the first morning). He rewarded us HALF the total for the weekend, meaning we are still going to be paying for this traumatizing experience out of pocket. I understand the rate for points for different locations can change, but when I look up their rate, I can see that we only received enough points to cover ONE DAY. We will NOT be going back.
