Presidio Theatre - 11/29/2025 Peter Pan Panto - Orchestra seat G108/109

Wonderful peaceful quiet theater hidden inside Presidio National park. Most people I doubt has…read moreever been here for a show unless you are looking for an event or performance here. I have heard of this theater, but never actually went inside of it until now. it's a nice cozy theater with a stage and two level seating the orchestra and the section behind it. Any seat you can have a pretty good view point. I came here for an artist talk called "Art at the Presidio Theatre: Andrew Pick & Ursula Xanthe Young". Andrew Pick, a pastel and oil painter based in San Francisco, trained at both the City College of San Francisco and The Art Students League of New York. His plein air paintings capture the city's streets, skies, and hidden corners with immediacy and intimacy. Ursula Xanthe Young brings her signature blend of intricate architectural motifs, feminine iconography, and dreamlike cityscapes to the space. Her work--well known throughout the Bay and beyond--draws inspiration from the urban world around her, reimagining San Francisco as both myth and Memories. This show was moderated by returning artist Rhonel Roberts, whose own work opened this series. This is a chance to hear the artists discuss their process, their paths, and the shared landscapes that inspire them. Yes, there is much going in this area with one Presidio Go Shuttle bus and one muni bus 43 Masonic that actually comes into this park. The 30 Stockton bus stops by the Sports Basement and it is also a 4 minute walk up the stairs to the Presidio tops park. I happened to follow Ursula Xanthe Young work and found she did a skateboard exhibit at the Minnna art gallery too, so obviously I am going to check it out and that is why both these reviews are now posted back to back

It's a small and intimate theatre especially before patrons are let into the theatre, everyone just hung around in the prefunction area. They have a small snack bar where you can get some drinks and snacks. No food and drinks allowed inside the theatre. Restrooms also downstairs. Not very big but sufficient for the small theatre. This was my first experience with Panto and it was amazing, so festive and entertaining. I love it so much this will be my new holiday tradition going to this show starting this year on! Our seats were excellent! I did an extensive research on what seats to pick. My normal go to seat for like the Orpheum theatre will be the balcony but for this smaller theatre and the theme of the show, I decided orchestra will be the best bet. Turned out I was right. Panto is an interactive, fun, playful, laugh out loud kind of show that fit for both adults and kids. Not to forget the amazing costumes and stage sets, yay for Panto!

Turns out that everyone had to stand in this will-call line to get physical tickets even though they were purchased online. Seemed odd, however, show up early to avoid the line and enjoy the scenic vibe around before the show. There's free parking (after 4P I believe) super close to the theater-- literally steps. We had to lock up our phones in a pouch for this specific event but it's so beautiful indoors as well. They had a bar area that many people enjoyed. Bathrooms are a bit crammed but nothing new to venues. It's a more intimate venue. It reminds me of a large college class room. Each seat seems like a great view, even last row. We found our seats easily, space between seats are more spacious than other places, no cup holders sucks but you can put your drink under the seat if needed. Audio and lighting was good & I look forward to checking out future events here.

Loved the cozy, intimate nature of this venue and comfortable seatings…read more We visited for the Demetri Martin Quick Draw Tour, and it was a perfect size for a standup comedy show. Demetri was able to engage with the audience in ways that aren't typically possible in a larger venue (like the Masonic). Note that the venue can be hard to find, especially if the event was advertised as being at the "Palace of Fine Arts." The Theater is around the corner, and there are very limited signs. Like many reviewers, we spent time wandering around trying to find the entrance. It is on the west side of the venue, not near the famous dome. If you're driving/Ubering, be sure to enter the destination as the Theater, and not just the Palace of Fine Arts, as the entrance are on opposite sides of the property. There is very limited food and drink offered, and you're not allowed to bring any food into the auditorium (covered drinks are allowed). This was a bit of an inconvenience for a show running 7-9pm right during dinner time. We were hoping for at least some popcorn for during the show. Bathrooms are small and awkwardly laid out, leading to long lines, confusing, and tight spaces. This is made worse by the fact that each row is ~50 seats across with the only aisles on the ends - this makes it very hard for anyone not seated on the very ends to leave during the show to go to the restroom. As a result, there was a massive rush to the restroom after the show and a 20 minute wait for the men's restroom (I shudder to think how long the women's line was.

I recommend Dahlias to all my friends and families that are planning for an awesome event (small or big), including huge corporate parties, fundraisers, festivals, holiday events, kids birthdays, galas, dance parties/clubs, etc. I've known the Dahlias for a very long time, and only have great things to say about them due to their work ethic. They will cater to your event and audience - whether your audience is a group of professional adults in the corporate world, or children at a fair, everyone will be in awe! I love how the circus performers take pictures with kids at the end of the show - they really loved that! Many entertainment businesses these days are sketch, unpredictable, untimely, and unprofessional - Dahlias are the complete opposite, and I'm grateful to know this group. I love throwing parties for my kids and would highly recommend Dahlias. I would also recommend them for the huge corporate company that my husband works for, and I would never recommend a business that I would think would put us in a bad spot- Dahlias are the best!!! So thankful to know this group of talented ladies whom I can hire at any time and ensure my party would be a huge hit!

To be specific: 1) Planning - YPT was incredibly helpful and responsive in helping us think through our options for the day, including picking a theme, talking about timing / dates, and thinking about how many people to plan for. 2) Logistics: As luck would have it, our date was exactly the same date and time as A) Farmers Market, and B) a huge auto show. So there was no way that anyone was going to be able to park at all. Neverthelesss, we were able to get everyone into the space, and it was no problem starting a few minutes late. Not only that, the pizza somehow arrived exactly at the right time, with no lunch delay at all! Also, the space was exactly the right size for a party, and the lunch area off to the side was perfectly laid out. And even the goodie bags for kids at the end of the day were well thought through, with age-approriate toys for all. 3) Finally, the event itself was fantastic. Our Director (Kim) was a perfect combination of high energy + great listening to the kids. our Group was not an easy one (the Pirate theme kept threatening to devolve into a plot of a Boy Ship Sinking the Girl Ship), but Kim kept everyone on track throughout, with a fantastic attitude, and had all the kids smiling to the very end. We were just so pleased with how the day went, despite lots of opportunities for some real challenges, and will absolutely recommend this site for anyone looking for a creative birthday idea kids of any age.

In February, I caught the premier of "Cuckoo Edible Magic," a show that playwright Reed Flores calls "a love letter to being a brown kid in the Bay Area." To me, a brown kid who grew up in SF, the story of family bonds & trauma feels familiar, heartbreaking, even. Love the shout-out to BART & specific neighborhoods. Appreciated the handful of Asian & Pacific Island languages & accents spoken on stage. And while I didn't grow up with a love for Sailor Moon or video games, I know those references resonated with so many in the audience. An obvious & loud five stars for the production. Wonderful staff. Ticket prices are so reasonable, you'll have a few extra dollars to donate to the theater. Unique programming. And the picturesque location (with parking & eateries at your fingertips) is pretty hard to beat. Can't wait to see my next show here.
