Super peaceful park. Parking was a little tricky but was able to manage. It's one of those places that just feels good to be in. It's not trying too hard. It's not massive. But it's got some real trees, real people, and a neighborhood vibe that's actually relaxing especially being close to some universities like Yale I believe? The location makes it even better. I'm not sure why I've waited so long to write this review. I spent many hours in Wooster Square Park, and now it's been over six months since I stepped in the park. How do I feel about it now that I have had some distance? Pretty much the same as I felt before. I'm certainly glad that this park is in this part of New Haven, which doesn't have as many parks or green spaces, but otherwise it's sort of a sad park. Now, don't get me wrong. You must visit in the spring when the cherry blossoms bloom. For those brief few days, the park really comes alive. But otherwise, the park doesn't have too many things that draw me there. There are a few places to sit, and there are a few different statues that you walk by and wonder "who put it there? Who paid for that to be there?" For the most part, dog walkers are good about cleaning up after their dogs, but so many times I came here with my dog to find random pieces of food left on the ground, perhaps for the squirrels in the birds, but it was a big pain to avoid those little surprises. Sometimes there are festivals in the park, and the farmers market traffic was always nice, but, frankly, I don't miss this park very much. read more

Connecticut is one of the finest states in the country, loaded with gems not widely publicized such as quaint seaport town dining experiences, smaller cities thriving with life, historic architecture, and top-notch cuisine. New Haven, Ct being one of them. If you enjoy historic homes and classic New England seasons, Wooster Square Park during its cherry blossom awakening, early spring is a life experience you will not want to miss out on. While out on a regular routine bicycling work out mid-afternoon, I made it over to Wooster Square Park, an area I frequented just about daily. Although on this day it was much different, as I couldn't believe the beautiful white & pastel pinkish colors everywhere, while the classic historic architecture and bright blue sky maintained the backdrop. Unreal! As this was my first experience with cherry blossoms, it was like entering a paradise with white snow petals everywhere. So surreal it was almost cartoon-like in nature and like being in a painting. The peak of the cherry blossom awakening only lasts a few days, so make sure to catch it quickly, if you are looking for the experience. I made sure to go each day until they completely faded out. As I wanted to take in each moment of their life as much as I could. I am impressed with the New Haven, East Rock, Westville areas of CT, my short visit for just shy of a year ( due to Covid-19) was fantastic, glad I was able to enjoy the experience. I am a CT native and was not aware of the cherry blossoms until recently. Overall the entire season change was amazing for me, especially because I was a Hawaiin resident for over 5 years therefore the season changes were completely outer dimensional with the cherry blossoms and signature New England historic architecture to top off the drastic colorful reality shifts. Mindblowing! (This experience took place in early April 2020. I am just now writing the review ) I really hope anyone that enjoys nature and classic New England feels will make it to the cherry blossoms as it is an amazing lifetime experience. read more

A nice, quaint neighborhood park. The Wooster Square Park is clean, and remains well lit even late into the dark evening. It's situated right next to the Wooster Square Farmer's Market that happens on Saturday mornings, so it's the perfect place to do a Farmer's Market picnic. The park tends to have neighborhood folk walking their dogs, families, and some older neighborhood folk. It's large and grassy, perfect for the dogs and the kids. I will say that I've had a bit of trouble finding an appropriate pair of trees on which to hang a camping hammock, but the search is not over yet! This park is an unspoiled gem. read more

Never will step foot in Wooster Square again. 2% safer than our worse city in MA - Holyoke. We went for the Cherry Blossom Festival and the pictures you see online are NOT what you see in person. What a waste of a 2-1/2 hour drive only to see dead, mangy, unkempt cherry blossoms. Pot holes, sketchy people and streets. Waited at a traffic light and to my left was an Emergency Order nailed to a tree in front of a boarded up house. Beautiful city. read more

Five stars for Wooster Square park in the springtime! A must visit when the cherry blossom flowers are present. The park becomes a magnificent wonderland when these clouds of magical pink and white blossoms grace the limbs of the trees throughout this quaint, pretty park. Perfect for photo taking or having a picnic. Family friendly. Street parking; sometimes hard to find a spot on a busy day. Located close to several restaurants, pastry shops, and a coffee shop. Pretty calm and scenic. Just like the green in downtown New Haven but with much less urban campers.

Beautiful park. Tall, old trees inside with historic buildings surrounding it. Big and open. Great hangout spot or to take a walk. Even at night it's well-lit and I feel safe. You can definitely feel the neighborhood vibe. There's often people jogging around it and there is *always* dogs being taken for a walk. It's also great that 1/2 the year there's an open market next to it on Saturday mornings and Little Italy is the next road over. So grab a coffee or slice of pizza and take a breather. Especially as the leaves are changing! read more

This is a beautiful little park. It's surrounded by a bunch of legendary pizza joints and italian ice joints. The houses in this community are to die for. They're beautiful and there's no doubt that these houses cost a pretty penny. It's about two seconds from the entrance to 95. read more

Was hoping for some playscape for the kids as it was labeled as kid friendly but there was none. Pretty small park but nicely shaded and has plenty of bench space. read more

Cute, clean and quiet little park. Great for dog owners. Gotta love the human/dog water fountain. Well lit at night (although the sidewalks are a little dark). Fairly safe. I haven't heard of any incidents since I moved to New Haven 7 months ago. However, the park does attract a small homeless population. On Saturdays there is an open air market across the street. read more

Great little park for a quick stroll, jog, dog walk, or even better, picnic. Grab a pie from the nearby Frank Pepe and skip the line for a seat and enjoy what mother nature gave us. Watch out for the dog sized squirrels as they aren't fans of curious dogs. Ample parking on the street for free here too. read more
