Went in search of a great French Dip Sandwich- more specifically a prime rib sandwich and Yelp took me to Woolleys. I was pretty surprised. I didn't realize the restaurant to be in the hotel. Shannon was our server & did a great job!!!! She made the evening a delight with her obvious connection to her customers. My wife had the salmon, and I had the walleye. Both dishes were perfect, done just right and very tasty. I do have a warning though, if you order a dessert sampler, you better have room as it isn't really a "sample," it's a full portion of each selection. We learned the hard way, LOL !! read more

You can't make reservations for a large party online. It has to be by phone per the website. I tried calling the restaurant and got the voicemail every single time. I left 3 messages and got no answer in return for a good 2-3days. No one ever called me back. The only way I was able to make a reservation was by emailing the restaurant. The manager replied within a business day. The day of my reservation I wanted to know if there was a dress code for the restaurant so I called and got voicemail again. Again no calls back. I tried their Facebook page, no answer. I emailed the manager and got a response within a few hours so bottom line is do not call. Email the restaurant. If you have a big party please make your reservation at least a week or two in advance because chances are people won't reply right away. Food was good but nothing exceptional. The inside of the restaurant is pretty. Good ambiance but I would not come back. read more

The service was fantastic and the bar area was very nice. However, the food was very disappointing. The filet was $45 and not worth it. Came with inedible broccolini and cheesy mashed potatoes. I am not usually a "dine in the hotel" sort of person, but I was feeling a bit lazy tonight and decided to try the in-house steakhouse. I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised with my dinner! The Red-Eye Ribeye was one of the best that I have ever had in a restaurant, and perfectly cooked to my request. The Brussels sprouts (with bacon, shallots and maple glaze) were pretty amazing and almost made me wonder why I didn't order that alone as an entree. One day we got pizza, calamari and truffle fries. The next day we got shrimp flatbread, buffalo wings and burger. All the food was great. We enjoyed it. read more

I've stayed at the attached hotel(embassy suites) on and off for the last month. Every time I come into this restaurant/bar it takes forever to be served. It seems as if the bartender sees me and masks eye contact several times but still blows me off. I under being under staffed. Tonight I come in again and I had to wait 10!minutes for a beer. Two people behind the bar made eye contact and never said a word. I give the bartender 10.00 for my one beer. I assumed it would be expensive and was more than likely going to give the change to the bartender. My bill was 8.73 and she give me back 1.00, not cheap at all, but when you assume my money is yours then I have a problem. The bartenders are rude. read more

We enjoyed the very tasty cocktails. My husband had a wonderful Manhattan and I enjoyed a spot on Cosmo. The food was fantastic. A flatbread pizza with shrimp scampi and walleye fingers. I have to say, I hate leaving reviews like this especially considering places are understaffed however, the service and attention to detail regarding our meal tonight was subpar considering. Despite alerting our server to the fact that I have a dairy and gluten allergy, my food arrived with a butter sauce on it. They had to send it back to be remade which took another 30-40 minutes. The people I was with had eaten and finished before my food was back. During this whole time, our server hadn't been back to the table since she took our order. Eventually my food came out and it was over cooked. In addition, the baked potato that was served with my steak tasted like it had been cooking for quite some time, possibly a day or more. We have been to Woolley's several times since we discovered it last year. The dinner menu is really great - especially the variety on the menu. The calamari and truffle fries are incredible! The signature cocktails were also good - and they have a good variety of craft beers on tap. I have had the flatbread pizza and scallops and shrimp dinner - we have never been disappointed! Talk about a hidden gem right in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area! We typically don't go to restaurants inside of hotels (I don't know why, but we just don't), but when we were looking to celebrate a birthday somewhere a little different, we logged into OpenTable to see who had last-minute reservations open on a Saturday night and Woolley's came up! Not only was the restaurant space inside the atrium of the Embassy Suites, it had a super chill ambiance. The service was great (thanks, Heather) and the food exceeded my expectations. I ordered the black and blue pasta, which was pretty much amazing. It had beef tips in the pasta and they were cooked perfectly. The sauce was also super tasty and it had just the right amount of blue cheese crumbles to add great taste, but not overpower. The only thing I would change is the bread that comes with the pasta, it was lackluster. Minneapolis, even though this restaurant is inside a hotel right by the airport, it's worth a visit. read more

We had a smaller reservation for at Woolley's for a large party I called weeks later to see if they could change the number of people and time and they returned my call promptly to say they could. Not only did they do that, the day of they seated some of our party early and gave us great service. Raechel was one of that most amazing servers I have ever seen! For a party of 20 with all different needs, she was quick, efficient, patient, fun, and caring to all of us. And I haven't even gotten to the food! The food was some of the best I have ever had. I was very pleasantly surprised since this restaurant is inside of a hotel. We all ordered several appetizers and loved them all. Our favorites were the walleye fingers and calamari. This used to be called Woolley's Steakhouse when we dined here 5 years ago for our anniversary and I gave it a 4-star rating back then. We had a great experience then so we decided to come back for my sister-in-law's 70th birthday. It was a Sunday, and there were only 2 other tables occupied, so I thought that was a bit strange. We sat ourselves at a table for 4 and the hostess greeted us with a smile and an exuberant charm taking drink orders and bringing water. Nice start. While we waited for drinks we noticed that it was cold and drafty in the 5-story atrium where we sat so I checked around and noticed that all the tables were similarly drafty. About 10 minutes later, a different server appeared, and I asked if the temperature could be raised slightly and she said no, but later brought me a blanket - a nice gesture. Our drinks finally arrived and she asked if were ready to order, but we were not, so she said she'd be back in a few minutes. Well, it had to be 20 - 30 minutes later when we began looking for her and could not find her. After a while longer, I went to the bar and asked someone to send her to our table to place our order. She then appeared immediately. When I asked how the red-eye rib eye was prepared, she said with coffee... what? Is that a rub; is there a wine or pan sauce, I asked? "No wine and no sauce", she said, but my wife encouraged me to try it. After all, we had had such a great meal 5 years ago and the website says the same chef was still here so I said okay, I'll try it with Bearnaise sauce-glazed broccolini. The other 3 guests all had the 10 oz filet and my wife ordered the loaded baked potato side. Apparently, due to COVID, the salad bar is gone that had been included with all dinners on our last visit. We all ordered either soup or salad that arrived about 15 minutes later. My 1/2 wedge salad was smaller than I expected but tasted good nonetheless. My wife's French Onion soup tasted like canned beef broth. About 30 minutes later, our steaks arrived. My red-eye rib eye looked flabby with some kind of yellow-brown coating that was not appetizing. I thought maybe it was the Bearnaise sauce broiled on top as there was no Bearnaise on the broccolini so I asked for some. When the busboy brought it over, it was thin and watery so I didn't eat it. My rib eye had so much fat that after I cut it all off, I had about half the 16 oz steak left. My wife's loaded potato tasted old like it had been sitting in a steam table for hours. The steaks were not properly grilled and the sides seemed as if they were either precooked or kept warm. We did get a free dessert to share that was quite good, but the service was so slow that it added to the disappointment of our meals as we constantly had to ask the busboy to send our server to our table. I left very disappointed after 2 1/2 hours of a 3-course meal costing over $300! We'll not be returning to this once great steakhouse! read more
