This is one of those pubs that are necessarily the easiest to find, namely because it happens to be located in a small town that it not located on the main road. Actually, it is basically what one would consider to be a railway town, and it is in fact much closer to the border than the otherwise named Bordertown (which I ended up passing through afterwards). It was a quite pub, and in many cases it is also a general store, servicing the needs of this particularly small town. However, it is also a pub, and a rather warm and welcoming one at that with a really friendly bartender as well. Oh, and it also has a pretty decent sized beer garden as well. Stopped in with group of six..lightly crumbed garfish with excellent beer battered chips and salad was superb. Other guests raved about locally sourced 500g T-bone steak, rump steak and turkey schnitzel with choice of gravy/sauces. New owner Tim is renovating so dining areas pretty basic but clean and friendly. read more

If you're after a decent meal on the Melbourne - Adelaide run or simply a proper coffee, take the little deviation off the main drag. Introduce yourself to the publican, Tim and enjoy some country hospitality. Still renovating, the dining area is fairly basic but the food is great! read more
