One word - amazing! The wife and I were in town for business and decided to try a local breakfast joint like we usually try to do. Stumbled upon some reviews on yelp and decided to give it a try after perusing their online menu. The place was packed with a 45 minute wait on a Saturday morning at 9:30. The "bar" opened up and we were seated in under 10 minutes. We tried the hazelnut coffee with the grilled cinnamon roll with pecans. Great combo. I had the Abney with spinach, mushrooms, onions, and everything else they prepare it with - OUTSTANDING!!! The garlic chicken is such a great combo - you have to try it to understand. Great hashrowns as well. The wife got the missad - another outstanding meal. Original - we have never seen anything like this on any menu before this - eat half and take theother half home - it makes a greet meal reheated the next day. Also, the English muffin bread is great with this meal - buttered English muffin bread toast buried underneath all of the other ingredients. Awesome, awesome, awesome. Finally, we have to try the biscuits and gravy if itson the menu - we know they can cook if they get this right. Let me tell you - THE BEST BISCUITS & GRAVY I have ever had in a restaurant. The biscuits were perfect, the gravy was the perfect consistency, and it had a great peppery flavor, not too spicy, not too bland - just right. Fantastic service, all of the locals were very friendly and even had a conversation with us at the bar while we ate. The wait to get in was pretty long! Line out the door waiting. But it was worth it. Food was excellent. Fluffiest pancake I've ever had. Good portion sizes. Staff was super friendly. Place was spaced out, which was perfect for social distancing. Didn't have to wait too long for the food. Wolfgangs is an East Town standard thats tough to beat. I don't even live in the city but I drive in for breakfast, maybe every other month or so. I don't know how long they've been in business but I've been coming here for at least 15 years. Decor is nothing remarkable, but who cares? Cleanliness and service have never been an issue for me. The place is often busy, so if you're coming mid to late mornings on the weekends you'll probably have to wait. They have a generous kids menu - mine love the chocolate chip pancakes - thats priced cheap. The main menu isn't so cheap though, at least not by greasy spoon standards, but the food is delish and generous. I always waddle away over stuffed. The menu is the really fun part. It'll probably take you a while to get through it your first time. The most recent incarnation of the menu has a movie theme, but it has varied over time. The variety of dishes is extensive. I'm sure I haven't tried everything I'm interested in yet. Unlike another reviewer, I really don't care for their hollandaise. It always seems a little thin to me, but I'll chalk that up to personal taste. (I can't be too critical - its tough to make a good hollandaise - have you tried to make it?) Everything was big and hot and delicious (and I'm talking about food and coffee lest the double entendre fooled ya). Eggs 2 dozen ways, coffee (regular or hazelnut), lots of tables, so you don't have to wait long and lots of waitstaff, so you get served quickly. All the reviews about the food are correct: the food is great! They have a diverse menu and in the off chance they don't have what you want, you can basically create your own meal; they are accommodating like that. They serve portions big enough for a lumberjack and the coffee is tasty and strong. But the secret is out on this breakfast spot so be prepared to wait for a seat, especially on the weekends. Wolfgangs is consistently good food with decent service. Today the wife and I went for a late lunch. I had one of the skillets; red potatoes and ham, bacon and sausage with three over medium eggs on top. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the skillet was nice and cheesy, with perfectly cooked ham (nice and browned with no rubbery pieces). The only downside was that I could have used lore potatoes; it was like a pound of meat in there! I My wife had a traditional eggs Benedict and low and behold, the poached eggs were perfect! The hollandaise sauce was also perfectly velvety and had a nice mild flavor with the right amount of acidity. We also shared a chocolate chip pancake, which was enjoyable although the pancake did fall apart a little bit. It was served with butter and what I am 97% sure was not real maple syrup. That's always a bit of a bummer, but I understand real maple syrup is expensive. We both had the cafe Wolfgang, which is half hazelnut coffee and half hot chocolate, topped with whipped cream. It sort of tastes like a gas station cappuccino. I will confess I enjoy this sugary concoction despite the fact that it is cloyingly sweet! I have a pretty crazy sweet tooth. Overall I'd say Wolfgang's is consistently decent. We check it out every so often when we sleep too late for breakfast places and we always end up with a filling, huge meal that is reasonably good. read more

It pays to show up at opening on weekends it fills up quick, arriving between 8:30-10 usually means a 20-30 minutes wait. Sometimes on weekdays also. The food is always top marks. I've tried most of the menu and am always happy with it. A few individual thoughts. The Missad. This is a behemoth breakfast, but it is utterly delicious. Tons of meat, egg, bread, veg, all doused in Hollandaise. What's not to love. The J.B combo is my go to standard breakfast. 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon, 2 sausage patties, half order of French toast (or waffle, or pancakes). Generous sizes on everything. The Paul Hansen and the fried cinnamon roll are both awesome indulgences. You should get a side of the fried redskin potatoes. Wolfgang's presents one of the most inspired breakfast selections in all Grand Rapids. If you have experienced a run of bad service or hastily prepared food, please go back, and do so on a WEEKDAY. On the weekends this place is a victim of its own popularity. A problem I'm sure the owners are happy to have, but one for which you will pay the price of bad service and cold food. Despite these caveats I give this place five stars for breakfast. Because when the atmosphere is relaxed, and you can sit at the bar to have delicious coffee and cigarettes while you wait for perfectly prepared eggs, layered scrambled or stacked on a plate with their fantastic variety of ingredients, it may just be one of the best breakfasts you'll ever eat. Don't be deterred by the more expensive dishes, and be prepared to take half your breakfast home, or at least wishing you had. Their portions are kingly. We stopped in this Saturday for my Vegan Daughter's 19th Birthday. I had heard such wonderful reviews from friends saying this is a "MUCH LOVED MUST GO TO FOR THE BEST BREAKFAST GRUB IN GR" Our waitress was wonderful! Attentive coffee cups always topped off, water glasses replenished... She was working her buns off... Food I must say was disappointing. Eggs ordered over easy came out very well done. Potato's raw & cold not cooked whatsoever. English muffins quite honestly could have spent better money & preparation in my toaster at home. Hollandaise sauce cold. This was Service at 7:30 on a Saturday morning. No line No Rush just Subpar food. I'll just continue to be a loyal customer of The Old Goat. Never again. I brought my mother here because it is know for being good. It took a longtime to order food. Also I am pretty sure she forgot to put the order in, because it took so long. I seen others order with one more person get their food before us. Plus pancakes takes yes like powder. My mother was not happy with her meal nor the server. Wolfgangs has been a favorite spot of mine in Eastown for years! Since moving from the area, I haven't been there in about 6 years. So when a friend suggested we go there I was like let's hit it! I was hoping it hadn't gone downhill since my last visit. I wasn't disappointed! I'm not a fan of self seating in restaurants of this size but it works out okay. We were "sighted" shortly after choosing a booth. Veryy friendly waitress but she seemed rushed, although the place really wasn't that busy. I ordered my fave breakfast, the Westsider! Highly recommended! A huge portion of food. Hash browns, English muffin toast (don't ask, just order it!), eggs, a large smoked sausage. Nearly perfect. Came for brunch on a Saturday. There was a pretty long wait (about 30 minutes). Unfortunately, the waiting area is tiny, so many people were having to wait outside in the chilly weather, while others had spilled over into dining areas. Despite this, I enjoyed my experience here. Our waiter was very nice, and my food--banana bread French toast with peanut butter and a side of potatoes--was really, really good. My biggest complaint was that the potatoes were covered in onions. (Now, I'm ok with onions in moderation, but there was just toooo much. I picked around them, and it was fine, but it is something to note.) After an enjoyable meal, my husband and I left full, and with leftovers, all for $20--not too shabby. We'll be back! read more

I've been twice, the first time there was a long wait but it was worth it, and I think it was Father's Day or some Holliday. I had the jerk chicken frittata which I wish I could make a bed out of and sleep on. The second time there was no wait and we got our food quickly. This place is fantastic! My friends and I had the best service today and the food, expectedly, was delicious. My favorite thing to get is the Vander Meer skillet because all ingredients make it hearty, rich and so filling. A cup of the hazelnut creme coffee is the perfect side addition and a must. We also split a cinnamon roll sprinkled with cinnamon powdered sugar which made the meal that much more enjoyable. Expect a wait on the weekend but know that it's definitely worth it. read more

The Keane skillet has a childhood breakfast favorite - corned beef hash from a can. The Vander Meer skillet has incredible flavors that make me feel like I'm on the Food Network. The menu is a bit overwhelming simply because everything has a random name that in no way clues you in to what you may be ordering. So read the menu thoroughly. After finishing the extensive reading, I settled on the Lenny V. Although, not classified as an omelette, it basically is. Eggs with bacon and veggies, served with potatoes and toast. Pretty good for greasy food, but not sure I understand the hype. I have been here twice. Both times, the food was good. A very generous amount of food for a very reasonable price, so who can complain about that?! But, I do not understand why there is such a long wait (up to an hour, frequently) when there are other breakfast places nearby that seat immediately and serve just as good of food. I think this place has just been hyped up. They do have some menu items like tiramisu pancakes that might be drawing a crowd that is different from me, so perhaps that's it?
