Periodically I try to listen to music and some sports thing is happening. Sorry, but I like predictable programming. Please don't push me to Sirius because I'd rather support a local station.

Don't like the programming, give it a few hours and it'll change. I got to hear a wonderful program on oatmeal. Where else can you get such great entertainment and educational programming on oatmeal? This station is amazing. The on air talent is diverse, fun, and amazing. They don't advertise, instead they offer community announcements, public service announcements, and fun call in contests. I hope they bring back the program about oatmeal for a sequel. There's a text line, where you can hit up the DJ with another willie Nelson request, or tell 'em to don't stop the rock. Be sure to text 'em. Your radio isn't broken, it's supposed to sound that way. Pull out the knob!

Only 2 surprise experiences with substitute requests (no, not that one) and once the end of the song faded out (play the whole thing) (Seger). No texting I still use landline and they are there when I need them. BBQ in the yard at the studio. Great reception at PNS when I am working, OK in Dover. Personable DJ's. When Burt was on Democracy now there was much prodding during Trump 1 and requests made to suit, Fine Age Rock Thursdays.

The array of programming is eclectic to say the least. The personalities of the DJ's alone are worthy of listening this station, which like New York City, "never sleeps".

Good news for me, WMPG has none of those things! In the interest of full disclosure, I do slave away behind the sound board in the early morning hours here playing all manner of subculture-y audio goodness (and a bit of badness) so that may make me a little bit biased. I came to WMPG as a volunteer because it's an awesome radio station that has a wide variety of programming that simply doesn't get air-time on commercial stations. They have something for everyone (except maybe eight year olds into Beiber - but there's plenty out there for kids with terrible taste), without those irksome commercials. And, while I may fall into convulsions at the sound of a bagpipe or a fiddle, I know that I can tune back in an hour or so later and hear something else. Plus, they actively encourage voices from the community. Real, genuine voices. And they are a friendly environment for all people regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, physical mobility, age, gender, sexuality, politics, or personal quirks. That makes them super awesome in my book.
