Our family, including a history teacher and two persnickety teens, really enjoyed this museum. There was so much to see and great interactive spaces. Sensory alerts and items for those with sensory sensitivities to enjoy the place were an even bigger highlight for this mom. Truly a great space for all. 100% recommend! Tip - The sub-tour was VERY hot. If there is an option, try to go during a cooler time.

What an amazing experience. Staff was amazing. Took a tour of the submarine and highly recommend this if you are not claustrophobic. We spent at least 3 hours in there and could have spent more. Very educational.

You can go inside the sub!!!!

For years I have drove by this museum, but never had time to stop. So I planned a trrip with my friend. We were inside the museum and sub for about 3.5 hours. We did the museum first,(Which I would recommend) then we went out and did a serve tour. It was great, we coul goat our own pace. I will tell you that you need to be preparing for squeezing into some tight spaces, so definitely take your time. Also when we were there they had an AC on so the air inside was a bit fresher then I was expecting. We got some great pics inside and out. Even though we were there for over 3 hours I still feel like I rushed. I look forward to a return trip. This was a great one day getaway.

Do Not Miss this Museum! It is worth the $20 just to go through the submarine! And the museum is very nice too! I really went in expecting to zip in and out, but wound up spending nearly two hours there working my way through the exhibits and the submarine tour. You don't have to be a WWII buff or a fan of History to enjoy this museum. I suggest you plan to move at a slow pace and really read the information provided. There is a section on shipwrecks, one with models, an enormous functioning engine, pleasure craft, etc. AND the submarine. It is all very interesting. The submarine is fascinating! It was simultaneously larger than I expected, and then suddenly smaller when you learn how many men were jammed in there during its time on duty (80 men I believe). I am only going to post a couple pictures of the interior because you need to experience it yourself. I promise, you won't for get it. Unlike some museums that feel thrown together as a tourist trap, this museum is extremely well-thought-out and well designed. It made me wish they could get even more funding to expand. I would really like to see the pleasure craft section expanded. If this museum was in Milwaukee or Chicago it would be a major attraction. And as it is, it is worth a visit, even if you have to drive an hour or two just to get there. I strongly recommend visiting it!

What a GEM of a museum! My family and I had the good fortune to take a private tour with Tim and then spend the night on the sub. Such history & reality. This experience has renewed my appreciation of our enlisted.

A top tier Smithsonian affiliated maritime museum. Flagship exhibit is the USS Cobia, the most fully and accurately restored World War II submarine in the world. Guided tours are excellent. If you can get a behind the scenes tour (nooks and crannies), do so. Totally worth the price of admission. Very nice museum store, which can be accessed without a fee. Highly recommend.

Absolutely enjoyed this place. The tour guide was wonderful. I very much enjoy history and there was a lot there on the submarine. The inside area was also nice. A lot of model boats. I would definitely recommend stopping here if your in the area.

Awesome place. Can be kinda pricy but well worth it. You can go through the sub as many times as you'd like.

Love this museum. Kids loved it. And the Sub Pub on the roof is the perfect spot to have a drink with friends on a summer night.

I had never even heard of Manitowoc, Wisconsin but I'd definitely heard of Keith Haring and Rahr West had a special exhibit of his original subway art. I'd seen Keith Haring art in person before but not original salvaged chalk drawings on what were blank advertising panels and I was totally geeked about it. They had a really extensive selection and it was awesome seeing it weathered and showing other layers of stuff stuck to parts of it, ads and whatnot as well as other graffiti on multiple panels. One had a little kid chalk drawing in addition to Keith's. Really wonderful stuff to see in pers and I didn't have to go to NYC or pay NYC prices to do so. This museum is donation based with $5 suggested for adults. The special exhibit does take up the better part of the space, wrapping around a central gallery and there's a smaller gallery off to one side. It had an awesome piece of folk art and a couple good landscapes but there wasn't a whole lot extraordinary in the permanent collection. They do have a little piece of a Sputnik salvaged from the streets of this city and a cool sculpture outside. Downstairs there's student art studios and some funky murals. They have a recreation of Starry Night made with bottle caps that covers a whole wall. That made quite an impression on me. There wasn't also a chalkboard with some examples of Keith Haring art next to it encouraging you to make your own Keith Haring style art, or not Keith Haring style if you wanna be an iconoclast. There's not enough in the permanent collection here for me to recommend going out of your way to visit but if they have an incredible special exhibit like Keith Haring and you find yourself in Wisconsin this is a fantastic little museum.

We enjoyed looking at the artwork from this museums collection. It's a free museum. Plenty of parking in street. The interior part of the house such as the woodwork and stained glass windows itself are stunning.

What better way to learn about the Dairy's State's dairy industry than visiting a real diary farm and witness it's moo-vie stars (yes, there is a short movie and it actually is very educational and entertaining) in action. We got to watch a calf be born onsite that morning, then learn how agriculture brings food to our tables through well designed, interactive exhibits and then enjoy some tasty food at the onsite cafe (great cheese curd fries and burgers). As a bonus, there was a fun corn maze to grab a beer or a canned brandy old fashioned and get lost in. Our family had a good time. We spent about 4 hours there so well worth the admission price for the fun memories we had. Is it for everyone, maybe not but it is probably a good idea to learn about where your food comes from and how it impacts your community. Have fun and learn something useful. Win/win right there.

I should have figured it was geared to small children on my own but a heads up from the front desk lady would have been appreciated before I paid $36 for two adults. It moved a couple of years ago. It is now on 924 Pinecrest Lane, a few miles west of Manitowoc off of Highway JJ. The new facility is headquartered in the McAllister building, a stately white 19th century edifice. There is a historical museum in this building. This building is in the Pinecrest Village, which Yelp insists is closed. The Pinecrest Village is a collection of dozens of 19th century buildings. These include early homes, a blacksmith, a church, a dentistry, a general store, a millinery store, a train depot, among others. The Meeme House is a recent addition. The Meeme House was once a stagecoach stop and entertainment center. In 2020 the official reopening date is June 1st. This is a wonderful place to visit. There are usually friendly and knowledgeable staff there to help you find your way around and explain the features and attractions of the place. Check their website for events in all four seasons. I have volunteered out here. I love the Civil War Days when I have an excuse to deck out in my Civil War uniform and dazzle folks with my trivia and knowledge of the War to preserve slavery. This is a wonderful place to soak up the history of Manitowoc County and breath some fresh air while you get some exercise on its 60 acres.
