This isn't something I ever would have considered earlier in my life--not for any particular reason, I just wouldn't have done it. However, for the past four months, I have been working with Dennis Bueso, MA, RD (Clinical/Sports Dietitian), and the experience has been nothing like I expected. Being very overweight, I anticipated someone taking charge of the conversation and lecturing me on what I 'better' start doing. I think TV gave me a twisted idea of how these things go. Thankfully, it hasn't been like that at all. Our conversations are excellent and open. Mr. Bueso is incredibly 'chill' and immediately sets you at ease; it feels like a normal, back-and-forth conversation between two people. He is great at following up and is just a genuinely easy person to talk to. Since starting, I've seen amazing results. For those who know what A1C is, mine had been double what it should be for over five years. In just four months, I've brought it down to exactly where it's supposed to be. I give myself credit for controlling my diet, but Dennis has been instrumental in helping me understand what to watch and work on. In addition to the blood work, I've lost over 30 pounds in that same timeframe. I definitely want to give props and thanks to Mr. Bueso. If your doctor has recommended a dietitian, just do it. I worried about how it would go, but those worries were unnecessary. It has been a great experience. They also give you exercises that you can do at home. I went for the dry needling, but found out my insurance doesn't cover it, but you have the option to pay out of pocket. The room is wide open so it will be several other patients getting worked on at the same time. They do have some private rooms. You're given several exercises to build your strength back up in whatever area you have issues with, and they also incorporate some massage, and heating pads into your treatment. It's about an hour visit, and you're in and out. Wear something comfy. I have used them in the past as well and think its a nice office to use for your therapeutic needs. Check them out!!

The other side of this coin is from a patient's perspective, especially somebody like me who deals with psoriatic arthritis major back issues sitting in a waiting room chair 15 to 20 minutes isn't bad but for an hour is absurd Their check-in process is a kiosk. It's as if they don't even want to say hello to you when the medical industry stops looking at patients as just a number in a way to make money and start looking as people places like this will never get better than a two or three star review. When I'm hurt or injured I wanna go somewhere where I feel that they're there to help not that I'm just a number.

I was referred to Jordan-Young Institute by a friend who was convinced they changed her life. From the first phone call to make an appointment, to my second follow up appointment with Dr. Babbington, I am satisfied. My first appointment was scheduled as soon as possible, after sharing my backstory and what I was looking for. When I arrived for my appointment, the receptionists were very friendly, and told me to check in on the tablet. A super convenient, easy way to check in, pay your copay and get your insurance on file. Once I met with Dr. Babbington, I knew I was in good hands. His expertise and passion for what he does made me feel confident that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. He went over my prior imagining, talked possibilities, scheduled an injection and a follow up, and made a game plan. On my follow up appointment, Dr. Babbington and I had to talk about the surgical options that I have to think about. Knowing one of them is tough to get covered by insurance, he said he will do whatever he can do to try and can get it covered, so that I can have the best possible procedure and a better future ahead. I was told that I would receive expert advice from this orthopedist, however Dr. Graham was completely incompetent. He told me incorrect information about muscle insertions, didn't know proper muscle names, and he even told me I needed to cut running out of my life forever to keep the pain away. As a 25 year old and a soon-to-be Doctor of Physical Therapy, I know for an absolute fact that he is wrong and it is disheartening to see that there are doctors out here like this. Please consult you primary care doctor or physical therapist for another recommendation before coming here. Dr. Graham should be retired and I am taking steps to get his license revoked.

I'm in Town to visit my Daughter and her Ohana. I had taken a fall and injured my heel. I did not…read morego to the ER because although the pain was intense, it was not overwhelming for me to want to drive to the ER. Instead, I chose to jump on Yelp and locate a nearby Orthopedic Office for help. I found Advanced Orthopedics who was just down the road from my Daughters Doctor and decided to schedule a visit there as she had an Appointment as well. I had called and spoken to Brittany who was very kind and gave me the first Appointment available which was 2 days away. I was told to be there early to do paperwork and do an X-Ray. I got there at 12:00 p.m. Brittany greeted me right away and handed me the paperwork. The paperwork was completed in 5 Minutes and then Lisa had taken me in right away to do my X-Ray. I was in the room by 12:10 p.m. Dr. Graham came in at 12:16 p.m. I was out of there by 12:37 p.m. with a Boot for my injured heel. They…read more& the new Brock Cancer Center are located on the southeast corner of Virginia Beach Boulevard & Kempsville Road. Both share a large parking garage. Entrance with a traffic light is located both on Virginia Beach Boulevard, which the buildings face, & Kempsville Road. The location is also easily accessible from I-264. The handicapped parking is extremely convenient & plentiful at the Leigh Orthopedic Surgery Center. The spaces face the entrance & continues around each side of the building. I've never had to park in the spaces that require a short walk. A covered circular drive thru is a convenient drop off point at the main entrance. No valet parking is available. I've had therapy at Sentara Hand Therapy & Sentara Therapy Center- Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. I've had MRI's at the Advanced Imaging Center. My Shoulder & Elbow Orthopedic Surgeon does outpatient surgery in the building. But my recent Elbow Surgery, although outpatient, was scheduled at the hospital itself. The practice requires anyone who has a Cardiologist to have surgery at the hospital, where emergency personnel are more easily accessible. My experience with both therapy & the MRIs has been excellent. The equipment & facility is state of the art in this excellent sparkling clean Medical Center. Technology is sophisticated, extending as far as doors being opened by a sensor activated by the wave of a palm. There are also hand sanitizer stations in plentiful supply in the building. My surgery was successful and three years later, it is as though I never had an injury. Dr. Nichols also treated my husband successfully for tendonitis. His office staff is not only professional and efficient, they are friendly. They have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help me when I needed it with my insurance company. They have taken calls from me and answered any and all questions that they were able without every making me feel they were rushing me. He was my second opinion when my shoulder was initially injured and my first choice when I had to make a decision and when I recommended him to others. My experience is strictly about the person handling appointment scheduling and I feel it's important to give feedback on this matter because this is the first person people talk to when interacting with this practice. To start, their website clearly states that they open at 8 AM, but the phones were not live until 8:25. A minor issue but worth mentioning if you're calling first thing in the morning. When I called to make an appointment, the scheduler sounded openly inconvenienced by the fact that I was calling at all. There was a lot of huffing and sighing on her end, which immediately made the interaction uncomfortable. When I gave her my new address, she snapped at me for "not giving her enough time to type," even though I offered the information at a normal pace. I apologized and said I didn't mean to offend her, and she snapped again...this time for saying she wasn't offended in the first place. The whole exchange felt unnecessarily hostile and unprofessional. It left me feeling frustrated and honestly hesitant to continue with the practice.
