Not to be confused with the Creepycentre, which is only open on Halloween…read more It's pretty Epic at the Epic-centre. I love coming here, and do so every single time I'm in Charlotte on a weekend night, which is often lately. Very appropriately named because this really is the epicenter of Charlotte. It's lively and fun and modern and futuristic and pretty amazing. The whole multi-level palace is filled with hot people and scandalously dressed people, especially on warm nights. I made some nice friends around here (of both genders, for a change). It is the heartbeat of downtown Charlotte and a very non-traditional party area. Sort of like a party area of the future. If a mall had an older, drinking crowd and was outdoors and full of clubwear then this would be it. For this reason we love walking around here, even though parking is extremely difficult here on Friday and Saturday nights, so be careful. We've actually parked illegally and gotten away with it on several occasions, but I wouldn't recommend that to others. Lots of cops around here so don't do anything stupid. The design means that if somebody crazy decided to commit suicide, or if there was a fist fight, then it would be very easy from the higher levels to plunge down a long, long way, and there's a lot of people wandering in the courtyard below, so that worries me a tiny bit, and what about the very very drunk people leaning against the railings with a 100 foot drop down onto concrete asphalt right below them. It does worry me slightly but it's still an absolutely wonderful place.

There's a few places to eat here and a cigar lounge that looks cool. Other than that..... don't…read moreplan your day around this place. If it's cute...I make a mental note....if I gasp...I'll walk in and usually will not purchase because they won't have my size. grr. I have to get a dress in a size large in everything so it won't look like a micro mini on my long legs. And Larges tend to fly off the shelves. Lets face it....I'm not 20 anymore and I shouldn't be in a micro anything. I'm all woman..hear me roar. I think this location is a little bit "hipper" than the other location that is in the South Park area next to WS. That location has some of the same pieces but I've been in there and the items would def appeal to the older crowd (40's) and then made mid 20s. Today..... Uptown location made me proud. I had my eye on a Chevron Black and White LONG maxi skirt that was at another boutique in dilworth. I called them and they sold out in about a week. *tears* of sadness. Oh WAIT...I thought to myself...I think Ivy & Leo had the same skirt....I'll check on Monday. Walked in today with a coworker and I couldn't find it on the rack. *tears of sadness* I browse the sale rack as I morn in silence. My coworker said "is this it". A light from heaven shown down with all it's glory as she held up my beloved chevron black and white maxi skirt. "YES" and I snatched it. Thank the good Lord it was a large. I would have probably bought it anyway if it were a small and squeezed my thick'um thighs in it. (Don't judge...you know you've done that before). Here's where I get irritated. I'm happy and I asked the sales girl to hold it for me as I need to go back and get my wallet. I could have sworn she rolled her eyes in her head and I politely said that I would be back...no need to worry. She just grabbed it and said "Name?" wow....someone's got the Monday blues. So I went back and the OTHER nicer girl helped me. Anyway..that's my story. Check it out. It's a trendy little place and dangerous for me as it's on my way to work....blah. I have a shopping problem.

It tucked inside a few of the large buildings downtown and connect them all on one level. Not sure where you would technically say is starts but for me It begins in the Wachovia building (I think it truthfully starts in the BB and T building but I can't leave these few shops out in the Wachovia building) and continues all the way to the Hearst Tower. I have visited a lot of the shops and the restaurant inside. It's an escape from the elements outside and a cool thing to see. However on the weekends it's a ghost town. The mall caters to the working/ business people downtown. On the weekends only the section in the Bank of America plaza is open and only Walgreens and the lobby of the Omni seem to be open. There is security walking around though. There are several different entrances and exits for the mall. You can walk towards other building in the area and there are tons of tunnels and walkways that connect you to different restaurants and shops in those building. The only thing open in this "mall" was a Walgreen's in the BofA building, none of the passageways were open nor did any of the nearby hotel employees even know they existed. Apparently all there is to do in Uptown is eat or drink, as there is a wealth of great restaurant and bar options, but there is no retail whatsoever. None. Really and truly sad because it's such a beautiful city, but unless you're looking for a bar or restaurant crawl, or to watch one of the local sports teams lose, you'll have to go elsewhere.

Megan also helped me mix and match shoes, scarves and other accessories - I didn't know I had so many possibilities at my fingertips. I realized I was holding on to items I thought were important because of their cost or sentimental value. Megan is really a wardrobe therapist, never telling me that I could not or should not keep something, but walking me through the necessary steps to eliminate pieces that were, in reality, cluttering my space and my ability to dress efficiently. Today my closet is neat and organized. I know what I own and what pairs well together and I can get dressed quickly and feel confident. No changing outfits over and over! Megan also helped me make a list of a few key items that would benefit my wardrobe - little things that won't cost much but have a big impact. Thank you, Megan. After hesitation (because my hubster hates spending money) he agreed and we couldn't figure out where to go. We asked around and we were pointed in the direction of Abbeydale by two different people. And they were absolutely right. Their location is connected to the parking deck off of 4th street. It's by appointment only so make sure you set that up prior which we did. (Sidenote: they are moving locations so not sure how much longer they'll be on 4th street) We were blown away ..(again let me be I honest..I was blown away) at the options that David had. He took the time to ask what we were looking for, our story behind the vow renewal, where we were going and even asked what I envisioned for Hubs! He made the entire process easy and gave recommendations when we got stumped on style. We picked out everything from color and fabric to even the design that goes on the inside of the vest? Whaaaa?? So classy. I can't WAIT to see the finished product. My hubs is gonna kill it in his new digs. Such great customer service!!!
