Now that their liquor license is in place, 'PopUp kingdom' has a great new flagship location in the…read moreheart of the Peoria baseball stadium/warehouse district. And we highly recommend a visit, especially if you are familiar with the brand! Like the BloNo location there are at least two entrances - the one further west is for a good sized hosting/ordering/waiting area while the one closest to the ballpark has more direct access to the bar area, but is way more space-restricted and will likely be a traffic jam on game days. If you're looking for a table, both entrances open to the rest of the cool 'industrial chic' dining areas in the form of a large street-level open concept dining area and a good sized split-level (up 3-4 steps) back room - which despite having wide entrances that make it feel part of the larger space, likely can easily be cordoned-off for private functions. One visit in and the lady and I (plus our friend and former Ptown bartender) can say that the food was every bit the same top-quality, large portion, methodically cooked and creatively accented sandwiches and wraps, served in old school pie pans with red-white check paper liners, that we are used to. The weekend special shaved ribeye Cali burrito was particularly epic, cementing what seems to be the first of the 3 or 4 things that keep the crowds coming back. The second thing is the creativity and discernment applied to bar side - in the form of the beer menu, which is initially focused on bottles/cans since they just received the liquor license the day before our arrival. Despite this there was a good mix of 'domestics' and at least 20 quality craft options from 6 or 8 fantastic breweries representing a good variety of styles but leaning like those at the original location - that is, a few more IPAs and 'sweet sours'. They also maintain a thoughtful and inventive cocktail list and will NO DOUBT start building up the whiskey/bourbon collection in the coming weeks. Although having high quality and fairly compensated employees helps immensely, the last thing that really drives their business is something we often say three times - location... In this case, it's literally less than a block from home plate. Easy to find. Easy to love. We'll certainly be back!

We ordered over the phone a family catfish and large French fry and were quoted 20 minutes on a Friday night. The food was ready and waiting when we picked it up in 20 minutes. They were busy with a lot of walk in customers who ordered at the counter as this restaurant is carry out only. I live in Florida and the catfish in Illinois is superior. This fish had a light crispy topping that was not at all greasy. The menu states everything is fried in 100 percent vegetable oil. I was shocked when we got an 8 x 11 pan with six large fillets. A large fry was your standard foam clamshell filled with hot crispy fries. They also have onion rings which I am definitely going to try. When I was reviewing the menu I saw that they have seasoning flavors: lemon pepper, spicy lemon pepper, garlic lemon pepper and ranch lemon pepper. I sense a theme here. I thought regular was perfect. My cousin has had the dark chicken which she said was very good. Like the fish the chicken coating doesn't overwhelm the meat and is similar to an original style instead of extra crispy. The gyro plate is plentiful and flavorful. The pita was large enough to hold the fillings. They have sandwich and meal options including fries. Since the portions are so large I think I think the monster burger and monster gyro plate (5 pitas, the works & family fries) must be HUGE! Desserts are cake, cheesecake, parfait and taffy grapes. I googled taffy grapes and it looks like fresh produce dipped in a candy topping with nuts mixed in. My next meal at Sharkey's will be onion rings and taffy grapes.

However, for our Thanksgiving meal that we had early due to work, we ordered brisket and pulled pork as the meats in the family meal. They never opened the big containers of the meats for me to see if we got the correct items. I was able to see brisket in the top container and pork was verbally repeated back to me however they were reading off of the receipt. Well we got the brisket but not pulled pork. Instead we got super dried out chicken. It was too late to go back because they closed at 8. We had spent the previous 2 nights trying to finish off rotisserie chicken from Costco so the last thing we wanted was more chicken. It was so dry that I had trouble swallowing it. I sent a message and all I got back 2 weeks later was an email asking me to call and discuss the situation. This was after I sent a reply that I still had not heard back from anyone as of 12/7. No offer to refund or to make it right. I'm not going to call and discuss what I already clearly sent in an email and waste even more of my time with zero effort to make it right. I could have purchased 4 more rotisserie chickens for the cost of the container from here and been happier with it.

On opening night alone, the drive-thru line was literally two blocks long. I had friends who waited about 45 minutes in that line, and they said the chicken was still hot and fresh when they finally got it, they were very satisfied and honestly, that's impressive. When we ate here for the very first time there was so much activity behind the counter, I'm talking at least 20 employees! Happy employees who enjoyed doing their job, it was refreshing, and they all had great customer service! Despite the fact there were so many people and how crowded it was they were able to make it run smoothly and everyone was still so kind! The food is pretty good overall, and I know a lot of people are huge fans of Cane's sauce. I truly believe some folks go there just for that sauce alone! The coleslaw is sweet and crisp and the garlic toast is always hot and buttery. Would be nice to see them have some sort of a dessert on the menu board down the road! The drive-thru setup is also really unique. Instead of just a window, they actually have a door where employees can walk out to deliver food. I've never seen anything like that before, but it seems more convenient and probably makes things run more smoothly during the rush. I love how they decorate their restaurants with the disco balls and the Cane's mural with the bricks somewhere located in the restaurant. I find that there's usually at least one unique table too. I like how they're all unique in their own ways but similar at the same time! Prices are decent, the chicken is fresh, and the hype is real. If you're thinking eating out for dinner, go get you some Cane's!

Review Visit: October 29th, 2012…read more Chick-fil-A will Chick-fil-you-up. Living in the Central Illinois area, Chick-fil-a was only available via commercials and advertisements (or long drives). Luckily, the day came where the one in Peoria was built and opened it's doors to customers. Erin, Matt and I stopped in after a day exploring Bloomington-Normal and we were famished. It was a first for all of us and we were excited to try out the place that has rave reviews and good word-of-mouth. We luckily got to Chick-fil-a when there wasn't a long line in the drive thru or a packed lobby. Busy, yes, but not uncomfortably so. This place was swamped with people for months after it opened. We must've gotten extremely luckily with our timing. In the years since this visit, I still remember how incredible delicious the food here is. I don't remember what we all ordered but we all loved with what we got. That I do remember. The chicken sandwich was just what I needed after dragging my friend and girlfriend around Bloomington-Normal for the afternoon. I ended up coming back in 2018 with another friend who never had it and it was every bit as delicious as it was back in late-2012. I typically keep my reviews of nationwide chains short (barring some crazy story to share) due to many factors and this one is no exception. All there is to say about Chick-fil-a is that it is incredibly delicious chicken at a decent price. My only critique is that it leaves you wanting more after you finish your meal. Its that good.
