Have you ever been to a restaurant that specialises in both Chinese and Korean cuisine? Well Mr…read more Lims Chinese Korean Diner does! My family wanted to take me somewhere special for the start of my birthday celebrations, and they chose this place as they said it is really nice. I have to agree as the food ambiance and service were far above average. The menu is a bit of fusion if you can imagine those two cuisines mixed together. You will see what I mean as I describe the dishes we tried. Orange is a town that in recent years has become a food and wine destination so there is a wider variety of new places to dine and drink. Mr Lim is only one of many new places to try and I can say they would be right at home in many parts of Sydney. My family chose Mr. Lims because my kids love barbecue pork buns , especially my 11 year old son. We all agreed that these were the best pork buns that we have had. The look on his face was worth going for, so we ordered more for him. They used finely shredded pork belly and a very tasty sauce inside. The adults started the meal with Kingfish sashimi, I am not big on raw fish so I closed my eyes and tried it, it was fantastic. Next we tried the duck pancakes a, Chinese style offering, it was well prepared and we ordered a few more pancakes to finish of the rest of the duck. Another stand out dish was the pork mince with chilli and green beans. Everyone loved the flavour of this dish and the chilli did not overpower the rest of the dish. As we were sharing, we thought the portion was a little small but very flavourful. A Korean style offering we tried was a version of San Choi bao, it had pork belly slices,Kimchi and Korean style hot sauce to wrap up in lettuce leaves. It was also big on flavour. They offer Korean style barbecue at certain times as the middle section has the coal bucket grills in the tables but it wasn't on offer when we were there on a Saturday night- call them and ask if you want to have this option. They have an extensive wine list, we chose a local wineries drop Ross Hill Cab Sav, delicious. The children had their fresh made lemonade which was refreshing on its own but with the addition of muddled mint and some vodka or tequila would made a brilliant cocktail for the grown ups too! The decor was nice inside and the staff were friendly, they need a little fine tuning or I would have given them a top score. It was only little things though, like selling something they didn't have on the menu anymore and bringing us things that we didn't order. It won't stop me from wanting to go back next time we are in Orange, I highly recommend it.

It's not often the first bite of the food tells you why this place deserves a 5 star review…read moreespecially after of hundreds and hundreds of patrons, but this place - Thai Terrace did just that. The simplest of dishes are often the hardest coz everyone does them well, and how homey a pad Thai and a pad see ew is generally gives the restaurant away. And here, the Terrace Thai basically aced it and got a home run with the Tom yum. A good balance of flavour and texture and the acidity for the pad thai was just right. The Tom yum had sufficient heat and sourness that it wasn't too westernised which I enjoyed. I was surprised it even had 3! Prawns in a small bowl of soup. Well done there. Oh I personally didn't like the lava noodles too much but I'm gonna say it's just personal preference. All in all the place is relatively pricy but I guess only by a couple of dollars and to that I'm ok. If you pay cash you even get 5% off so bring some $$$ with you when you visit.

Once upstairs you're in a fiesta of bright colours and fab hand-drawn artwork (that we were invited to add to by the staff!). It's a casual place for drinks and eats and has a balcony where you can sip cool drinks in the sun. The drinks list includes several popular Mexican and American beers, wine, sangria and cocktails including a sweet tequila cocktail section. I had one of those - a Mayan Mule made with tequila, ginger beer, bitters, lime and mint, then a Tecate with my food. The menu covers American and Tex-Mex choices like burgers, tacos, ribs, hot dogs, nachos, burritos, etc. I had the veggie burrito and shared tortilla chips with guac and pico de gallo. The food was decent and we enjoyed the laid back atmosphere.

The food was pretty average overall, to be honest. But what would make me want to come back is the service. Everyone was wonderfully kind to us and extremely attentive, making sure we could handle extra spices and even altering the spice levels for us (we like things hot!). They were even concerned when they saw I didn't have my free drink bottle on the table (I'd opted to save it for later in the night) and wanted to make sure I didn't leave without one. It was the only open Thai place in the area with vegan/vegetarian options. It seemed like we had arrived just before or after they'd opened for the night, and it was eerily quiet. I kind of wish they'd had music playing a bit louder to drown out the awkward silence, but the scenery of the mountains was enough to keep us occupied for the duration of our meal. As for my meal, I ordered a vegetable & tofu red curry with rice. This was the first time my curry ever had a bubbly texture at the surface, and I quite enjoyed it! The tofu would've been better if it was fried or baked beforehand, but it was filling and tasty altogether. A gem of a travel stop!

A solid 4. Is it a…read moregreat bar? Absolutely! Was it some nice pizzas? Yep! So why wasn't it 5 stars? Ok this comes down to personal preference. All in all the pizzas were great, I enjoyed our couple of pizzas and definitely wish I had ordered more! But! Both pizzas were very 'wet' in the middle with practically no crust. Soggy didn't quite explain it. Just so wet I figured it has gotta be the style and to that I did not enjoy at all. U can't even fold a u shape triangle to feed yourself cause it's just so saggy from the moisture. That said, flavour was there and I did wish I ordered an extra one. The menu was interesting for me, overall I felt like half the menu were very similar with just 1 or 2 ingredients different. We ordered the Kelso and the Brewongle and if it wasn't for the olives and mushroom you might think they are practically the same. I guess that was the point? Anyway, I'm not complaining. I enjoyed my lunch and I recommend this place! Come with some friends and you'd have a great afternoon! Even the LLB was above average

We ordered the salmon salad, 2 x targine's & the corn fritters. From what I hear the salmon salad was delicious, I tried some of the sauce on the targine & it had a great flavour, my corn fritters were very nice too but I added poached eggs. It would have been better if I could have swapped the bacon for smoked salmon but the menu stated that changes could not be made to the meals so I didn't bother asking.
