We came here just to have a few drinks after dinner. The place was very busy and we noticed a couple leaving the bar area so we rushed to sit down. The waitress seemed less than pleased when she came over to us trying to clean the table as we were already seated. She was kind of rude. The drinks were good and well priced. read more

My family went there for lunch on a Saturday. The food was good and so was the service until I ordered a piece of carrot cake to go. When I opened the box, there was a slither of cake that I was charged $6. When I went to the manager, she was not concerned at all. She admitted it was small but said that there was nothing she could do because the baker slices before they get them (I guess giving me another piece so that it equaled a normal slice of cake never occured to her). I asked her how they could charge the same price for the cake as the other desserts that two people can share. She didn't have an answer. I immediately posted on both the Como and Hernando fb page because the owner resides at Como. I haven't heard a single word from either place. It is ashamed that losing a whole family of customers means absolutely nothing to them. There were only 3 tables occupied that day at 12:00 after the farmers market, no wonder the place was empty with management like that!! read more

My family and I came in for a casual lunch around 2 today, and I have never had food so bad. Ordered broccoli pasta that is supposedly made with olive oil and wine sauce. And as usual, it took FOREVER for the food to come out. When it came out, the first thing I noticed was how plain the pasta noodles looked. When I started eating, I realized there was absolutely nothing on these noodles, they were PLAIN BOILED NOODLES with broccoli around them!!! I asked our waitress, Mary, to ask why they were like this, and she acted as if she couldn't care less whether my order was correct or not. Now I know it is not her fault that the food was bad, but it is her job to help and talk to the cooks about what was going on. I'm very disappointed and probably will not be back!! read more

The past few visits have been sub par and I will not be going back after this last visit. The last visit - whose review seems to have disappeared - was horrid. I was there in May 2012. The fried portabellos were just unpalatable. I'd have sent them back, but my waiter disappeared. The couple seated after me, and in the booth next to me, had prompt service. Alas, they sent food back. The sauce for the mushrooms was just ranch dressing - not horseradish - which is what I was told they had. The calzone - ordered with garlic, mushroom, sausage, and cheese - was just bland and icky. The cheese tasted old, the garlic appeared MIA, and pastry part was not good. It was inedible. Again, I'd have sent it back but my waiter was gone. I should have taken the 10 minute wait for a drink order or to be acknowledged, on a not busy night, as an omen. it is a shame because the Windy City Grill in Como, MS is pretty good. And this one used to be but just don't see myself going back. read more

The cheapest and best food in town. The chicken wings are wonderful and burgers/sliders are the most flavorful patties I have ever had. The drinks are cheap and a generous pour! We always go to the "bar side" of the restaurant and the servers there are top notch. read more

I am not impressed at all with the Windy City Grille. My family and I tried to eat there for lunch and waited forever to be seated. They were not busy and had waitresses walking around. We tried to get one of the them to stop but she just ignored us. So we went somewhere else. Later that same day, some friends wanted to eat there and ranted and raved over the place saying it was just a fluke and they had never had bad service, so we tried it again. To sum it up, the service was very poor, the food was not good, and the price was very high for what you get. We will not be going back. There are better places to eat, with better food and service, and much lower prices. read more

Inconsistent at best. Dangerous at its worst. Over the last 5 years, I've had some really good food here, but never twice in a row. Service has ranged from good to terrible. I've had to move because the air conditioning duct was dripping water onto the bar and into food & bev, listen to yelling arguments from staff in the kitchen, watch staff argue over the music selection and tolerate those that I believe were over served at the bar. The last straw was not being served a beer in broken glass, only to have it transferred to another glass. The last straw was when they served the same broken glass to someone at the next table while we were still there. Poorly managed, poorly trained staff. Some care. Some don't. Great spot. I'd love to be able to go there but won't go back to windy city. read more

I had never been to a Windy City before so I thought I'd try a Chef Salad. MISTAKE! I did take out and called in my order. I entered the place and two young ladies were moving tables around and cleaning I'm assuming. They looked straight at me and didn't offer a smile, a greeting or anything. I made my way to the bar after stopping another employee to ask where I pick up an order. It's a bar atmosphere for sure. Dark and dingy is my impression of the place. My order came soon and I left. I got home and opened the container and low and behold it's a large salad. The problem was it had a freaking 1/2 a pound of ham and turkey deli type slices crammed on top of the ice burg lettuce. I swear I wish I had taken a picture! It was Walmart deli type meat dumped a mile high. I pulled all of that cheap meat from the salad and fed it to my dog. Seriously! I then threw the rest in the trash. What a joke! No presentation of the darn salad and it was nasty to see a pile of sliced deli type meat piled up in a heap. I thought it would be a nice salad of mixed greens with sliced up meats arranged with tomatoes, cheeses, etc. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY unless you enjoy dumping a package of Oscar Meyer turkey/ham on top of ice burg lettuce and paying triple for it. read more

We have typically been to Windy City Grill before 5 Monday through Friday. Tonight was our first truly awful experience. Service was crappy. When we asked where were the onions that we paid extra for, the waitress argued with us. Most places include onions on burgers for free. If you are going to charge for them, you better make sure the customer can see them. We will NOT be going back there on a Saturday night. read more

Mixed review. The food was great but the service was awful. The location was atmospheric - right on the square in downtown Hernando in an older building. We arrived, it was seat yourself so we chose a booth. It took about 15 minutes to get menus & about another 10 to get the server back to place our orders. People came in after us, were greeted & seated & eating dinner long before our sandwiches ever came. We never saw our server after that. The busboy had to get our check since our server was sitting at a table nearby hanging out with people. We had a burger and a chicken sandwich & onion rings. We just ate at the one in Hernando, MS. It was so terrible I could not eat any of my pasta and very little of the salad. The tomato basil pasta had to be some form of Alfredo sauce. I was told it was not, but it looked and tasted just like a cream sauce. If the salad had been any colder the lettuce would have been frozen. The salad dressing was almost nonexistent and had no flavor. We told the waitress the food was not what we expected (trying to be nice), and she could have cared less and did not even attempt to apologize. We will never eat there again. read more

If you aren't a local or a regular then plan to be ignored if you're going to sit in the bar. Everytime we have sat in the bar we get horrible service. The employees in the bar are more interested in work drama and getting the regulars involved then doing their job. Anytime we sit in the bar we end up waiting forever to get any service at all. If you plan to eat here do yourself a favor and sit in the main area. read more

I have eaten at this restaurant several times as there are very few places in Hernando to eat on Sunday that are not a chain restaurant. The food here is generally good. The service is very sketchy. Sometimes good, most of the time fair and sometimes not good at all. Maybe the food is good because it takes the kitchen so long to prepare it. From the time you place your order it generally takes 45 min to an hour to get your food. (It doesn't matter what you order) A couple of times it took 2 1/2 hours for the server to take our order and serve it. Both times the restaurant was only half full. The food is good, just plan to be there for awhile. read more

Hungry and eating just like at home. We arrived in Hernando after a long day on the road. Not wanting fast food, we searched for restaurants on the map and this sounded interesting. We walked in at 9:35 on a Tuesday night when they close at 10. The server was friendly and sweet and welcoming, not at all put out that we walked in near closing time. She offered for the salad to be tossed with the dressing which I've never been offered before, or on the side. My husbands came with the right amount of dressing, a cherry tomato cut in two and red onion rings and croutons. I ordered the chicken and mushroom angel hair pasta. Perfect size, artistically garnished and piping hot. The menu says nothing is microwaved. The chicken was moist and tender and melted in my mouth. It was delicious and hit the spot. Who knew you could get angel hair pasta in a restaurant? And not overcooked. We had no issues with the timing. I'm so glad we stopped! read more
