If I could give Ryan Vakulskas zero stars, I would. This is the first time I've ever bashed a…read morecompany online in my life, so that's saying something. I made the massive mistake of hiring his company to do some dirt work, lay some concrete, and remove and replace a retaining wall in my yard. It was a $12k estimate. Things started off fine, and demolition was accomplished in one day. Then when they poured the concrete, he claimed the concrete itself cured too quickly for them to properly finish it. They blamed Standard Concrete. Suits from this company came out and inspected the concrete and found nothing wrong with it, but Ryan said he wouldn't put his name on the work, and came out and tore up most of it without my permission. He ruined my entire backyard with his skid steer while doing it. His guys framed to repour, but then he quit working and kept asking for more money. I ended up paying the $12k estimate in full just to get him to come finish the job, but even that wasn't enough. He now wanted more money than that, and refused to complete any more work. He was awful to me and treated me horribly, and at one point even texted me "F*** you" among other things. I still have every text he sent me for proof. I finally refused to work with him anymore. I only got the retaining wall removed, my backyard destroyed, and maybe 100 foot of sidewalk done for $12k. I hired another company to complete the job because I couldn't stand the thought of seeing or talking to Ryan again. He's truly an awful person.

I knew he did it and he finally admitted it and fixed it but not correctly. I also came home from a two week vacation to find water in my basement because my valve to my mainline was leaking. I called him and he basically said oh well, not my problem call a plumber. he also never put my door back on in the basement that he took off. I would recommend his services. It takes a lot for me to complain, but this was absolutely a horrifying experience. !!!!!!

I hired Tod Garr of GBC services to install two countertops, two sinks, a dishwasher and an…read moreair-conditioning unit. The price was to be a total of $975. The lead time was two months because of a special order from Lowe's. Tod was informed that I have a very busy work schedule and that the work absolutely had to be completed before a certain date. (Tod eventually charged $1,347.05 for doing less work than promised; an increase of 38%). Tod would show up at very irregular intervals, often days later than first promised, with little or very poor excuses demonstrating exceptionally poor planning and unprofessionalism on his part. He very frequently puts his own interests and other clients before his previous appointments instead of living up to his scheduling promises. Once he worked starting on a Friday afternoon into the early evening, and once on a Saturday until 9 or 10 pm after having had literally months to plan a more normal and professional work performance and promising a normal workday for the work performance. He displayed very poor planning and communication skills. Even worse: Tod eventually stated that he could not install the a/c unit after all, months after being hired. I asked him if he could help install 18 small garden pavers. An associate of his and I myself did most of that work late on a cold Saturday night in the dusk as otherwise, it would not have been done. Tod charged an additional $372.05 cents for this small extra work, including double and triple charges for the same work, a fee for "delivery and usage" of his own wheelbarrow (!) and a $75 "service call for pickup and delivery of a/c unit to your home." The latter was a charge for me calling him to ask if I could meet him at a store 3 min. from my home to transport the unit and him only being a few minutes away, -not at all mentioning any additional charge-, and getting help lifting the unit on either end. At one point, Tod sent 40 unsolicited text messages with pictures to my husband! This was very inconvenient and bizarre. At the same time, Tod did not communicate with me, the wife, about the same job. This came across as Tod attempting to curry favor with the husband against the wife; not cool. Tod is a sweet-talker with a pleasant voice, but with him bailing on an otherwise promised job at a very late stage and attempting to charge no less than 38% more for doing less work than contracted to do, I recommend that you stay far away from this person and company. Tod does not appear to have the construction skills that he clams to have. He may be a nice person privately, but does not appear to be forthright as a professional.

When installing new carpet in the house they used different dye lots. When packing up our belongings they broke and damaged thousand of dollars worth of stuff. Our belongings were thrown into boxes with no bubble wrap, packing paper or inventory of the items. They also used temp workers who had never worked for Paul Davis and gave them no training or direction about packing our belongings. Paul Davis left these temp workers alone in our house with no supervision for eight hours. They did no use any moving blankets in the truck when storing our belongings. I definitely would not recommend this company to anyone. I would tell you to AVOID PAUL DAVIS OF SIOUX CITY, IA and the general manager, Lehi Tonga.

I wouldn't recommend PDR to do any work inside or outside of your home. They were the general…read morecontractors for my home repair after it was struck by lightning and I had nothing but trouble. Their employees who packed and cleaned my personal property put items from 3 or 4 rooms all together in 1 box. Most things came back with Sheetrock dust, glass and insulation still on them. Most items were wrapped well but some were not wrapped at all and breakable items were stored in bottoms of boxes or put on the bottom of a pile of heavy boxes. The workers drug furniture across my hardwood floors and laminate flooring causing extra damage that they wouldn't cover so it was added to my insurance claim. Their subcontractors installed the siding incorrectly with a nail gun and left gaps around windows and there were places where the siding wasn't even attached. They charged me for new foam insulation board when the old was never removed from the home and then lied and said there was never any on the house to begin with. Luckily I had taken pictures and could prove they were lying. The subcontractor who installed the new pre-hung door and sidelight has it installed twisted and not level so there are 1/2 inch gaps around the top and side of the door, it swings back shut when you open it and has to be covered with a blanket to keep the cold air out. I have to order and pay to have another new door installed because PDR says it had to be cut to fit when it came and now it warped and isn't covered by a warranty. This tells me their worker who measured it must have measured it wrong as you shouldn't have to cut a pre-hung door, it should come in the frame and be ready to be installed correctly. I was over charged for supplies and labor, I was never told who or when someone would be working in my home as we had originally agreed upon. I have never worked with such dishonest and uncaring people. It is bad enough to have Mother Nature rip your house apart but to have the restoration company who should be helping put everything back in order cause you more stress and duress is just uncalled for. Do yourself a favor when you need a restoration company and call anyone but Paul Davis Restoration.

He showed up with a 5 gallon bucket of tools and a 3 ft plastic level. After promising to do the work in 1-2 days, he finally finished 4 days later. The wall panels are so crooked that the shower door has gaps that you can see through. They broke off corners of the wall panels, and just stuck them back in place and covered them with calk. The backer for the wall panels is so uneven that there are gaps behind the wall panels with nothing supporting the walls. I tried to communicate with their customer support on day 1 of the install, and just got the run-around. Their goal was to hold me off as long as possible to slap together a poor project, and get me to accept their poor workmanship. Their solution to all of their poor workmanship is just to apply more calk. When I express concerns about the longevity of all the calk covering up all their problems, they just say that "there's a warranty", where they will come back an apply more calk. When I asked for the credentials of the "Professional Certified Installer" they couldn't provide any documentation or any certifications for the installer... that he was trained inhouse by the panel manufacturer. He isn't a licensed plumber, even though he was doing plumbing. There is no documentation for the inhouse certification. They insist that it's a patented product, well, happy meal toys also get patents. I have been working for months on trying to resolve all the issues, and I am constantly getting dealing with threats from their corporate office legal team, who is completely disconnected from anything happening in the field. Don't believe they are a local company. The are a giant corporation running a scam, promising high quality installations in a high pressure sales situation, and delivering garbage.
