Spring 2025 - My son and I figured out when Lakeside re-installed the lower unit, they did not line up the shaft that runs from the lower unit to the fwd/neutral/rev linkage. Wilson Marine took care of this for $350.00. There's no need to put the boat in the water or even put water paddle on the engine. If they installed it correctly to begin with, the shift ctrl would effortlessly slide from neutral to fwd and rev. Steer clear of this company! Original post taken down from Google and Yelp. Probably cause it was too long. Nutshell version: Lake side Marine is a rip off! In fall of 2024 I asked them to ONLY shrink wrap my boat. They took it upon themselves to replace the gear oil which they said had water in it. BS! When I replaced the gear oil a week earlier, the new oil didn't have water in it. They: changed the gear oil - not needed told me I needed new seals which I agreed to have them install. stabilized the gas - not needed. I always took care of all winterization processes except shrink wrap.

I would highly recommend Lakeside for your marine services!! Jon was willing to take a look and do the work necessary to make me not entirely regret the decision of buying a boat. Over the phone and in person, Danielle is incredibly kind and helpful. Jon was extremely honest and straightforward with all the information he could give me about the boat. Even to the point of explaining how to do some of the more "simple" maintenance items myself since I'm used to wrenching on cars and can do some of the stuff that transfers over. He showed true integrity and honesty throughout the entire process.

Club Royale Boat Storage & Service

Club Royale Boat Storage & Service

AVOID USING CLUB ROYALE.... Consumer Beware. I have used Club Royale for the past 2 years for…read moreinside boat storage during the off-season, and have had nothing but problems, along with horrible customer service. The first year (2016/17) I stored a ski boat that had a mooring cover attached. When I picked it up in the spring, there were greasy stains throughout the white interior and also on the gray carpet. Something above my boat had evidently leaked through the mooring cover and stained the interior (could have been a boat's greasy bilge, leaky roof?). In this case the service manager was good enough to come out to my house with cleaner to help try to get the stains out. They came out about 90%, but you can still see hints of where they were. I figured I'd give Club Royale a second chance, and over the 2017/18 season I stored a pontoon boat and the same ski boat. Both had their mooring covers on, and both to be stored inside. I was sure to make mention of the stains that occurred the previous year on the ski boat, and asked that they make sure nothing leaked onto either boat. I called Club Royal in mid-May 2018 to schedule a pick-up of the pontoon boat. While hooking the boat to my truck in their lot, I noticed that the carpet around the perimeter of the boat was very wet (cover was still on so didn't see the inside). I walked in the office to ask why the boat was wet, and they told me they take some boats outside early in the season when they need the room to move boats around. Really? Yup. When I picked my boat up, it hadn't rained in several days, but this was after a recent period of heavy spring rain over many days (late April / early May?). I expressed my displeasure with the fact that I had paid for indoor storage, but the boat was obviously stored outdoors for an extended period of time. I was never notified by Club Royal that they would be storing my boat outside. Had I known, or at least been contacted, I would have picked up the boat immediately to get it under a covered hoist, as I knew the mooring cover doesn't keep much water out. After getting home and uncovering the boat, I realized that the boat had taken on at least a few feet of rain water, and left covered in the hot sun for several days - there was mold everywhere (and I had dropped the boat off in the fall bone dry, to store indoors, along with 2 large DampRid buckets in place just in case). There were two 8-gallon plastic garbage cans stored upright under the tall seatbacks. Each one had 6+ gallons of water in it. They were likely completely filled when I left Club Royale, but some splashed out while trailing the boat home. Two battery box compartments were also half-filled with water (again, most of it splashed out during transit). I have pictures. It took several hours of vacuuming, drying, and scrubbing the mold off, along with the boat sitting in the sun, to get it back into the same condition it was when I dropped it off at Club Royale. I called the owner of Club Royale, Rob Davis, and explained what had happened, and asked for a partial refund of the boat storage fee ($575 was cost for pontoon only) to help compensate for the time and effort in cleaning up the water and mold. I paid for indoor storage, and should reasonably expect that the boat would be stored indoors. Rob absolutely refused to offer any sort of assistance, or even apologize for situation or try to make it right. He explained that's what they do sometimes (move customer's boats outside, even though they paid for indoor storage). The discussion became heated, and Rob (the owner of the business) actually hung up on me. Shame on me for giving Club Royal a second chance. Shame on Club Royale for shoddy service and treating their customers like $hit. There are many other boat storage facilities in the area that offer great rates and even better customer service. Check them out, and AVOID Club Royale at all costs.

I stored my pontoon at SkipperBud's only because they promised they would diagnose and fix my radio while it was there. They never even looked at it until the day I was supposed to pick it up, then tried to charge me and told me I'd have to handle it myself. Then it got worse. They mishandled my EZ Cover. After haul-out they left the powered cover fully open and not strapped down outside. That is NOT how this system is designed to be stored. After I complained multiple times, Brian (one of the managers) finally came out. His "fix" was to disconnect arms from the mechanism so he could force it closed. It worked once. The next time I tried it, the cover wouldn't close at all. When I called back, I was basically told they weren't going to fix it and I was on my own. Because they refused to take responsibility, I spent almost the entire summer with a six-figure boat I couldn't properly cover. In the end, I had to send it back to my selling dealer and EZ Cover--nearly 100 miles away--and eat over $2,000 mainly in transport costs just to undo the damage that started at SkipperBud's. My advice: if your boat has anything more than a basic, stock setup--Sea-Legs, a powered or custom cover, or any specialty gear--think very carefully before trusting it to SkipperBud's. In my experience, they did not stand behind their work, and I paid thousands of dollars and lost most of a season because of it.

We went to view the boat but were pawned off to a different salesman because someone was coming in to buy a new pontoon at the same time and our salesman was going to help them. I felt like every second we were there that we were wasting their time and they just had other things to do. We bought the boat (in spite of the service we received) and asked that we get some safety gear for our boat (life jackets, anchor, lines, etc) This SkipperBud's location said that they only include those items with purchases of new boats. I called another location and they were surprised to hear that and said that their location includes those items for used boat sales as well. Not my favorite experience, and I probably wouldn't buy another boat from them.
