That's more than just a slight difference. I am bummed because I did like this dentist, but something changed with their office.

Wow! My just son let me know that smile makers "recommended" a deep cleaning. To me that means you…read moreneed it, BUT its up to you as the patient to decide. He called in to schedule a regular cleaning because that's what his insurance covers. Michael, the so called Manager, told him that he had to get the deep cleaning or he wouldn't be seen again. I called and said I had a general question.... I asked if I was told that a deep cleaning was recommended, was I FORCED to get the deep cleaning instead of a regular cleaning? They did ask if I was a patient, and I am....he proceeded to tell me that I would have to get the deep cleaning or go elsewhere. That's crazy, no other dentist office has done this. Another thing is, I never told Michael who I was, and even if I did....his response should have been " I am not able to disclose another patients information." instead, he violated privacy and told me word for word about their conversation, and used my son's name! Okay, one last rant....I am also a patient but I read in the bad reviews that if they tell one family member to look for a new dentist, the whole family is apparently banned! Read the bad reviews before considering this place. I honestly love the dentist, he is great, but this isn't right.

She was asking me some questions and I was asking her questions, she seemed frustrated with me, so I said that I wasn't from the area and I was just confused because my dentist never asked me these questions and she said "then maybe you should find another dentist" and hung up. I still can't believe it! If you have any questions, don't come to this office, you'll piss them off and they'll tell you to go elsewhere. They clearly have enough business and don't need anymore!

I've been going to Dr. Surh's office for maybe about 2 - 3 years now and he's helped me address all…read moremy dental issues, including squeezing me in for some emergency problems I had. I've NEVER had any any issue with anything or anyone at the office - all the staff is very kind and knowledgeable. Surh is former Navy, which I have a soft spot for as I have military family. In his waiting room, he has a photo of the ship he was assigned to, which I thought was a nice touch. He is obviously proud of his time in the military, which I appreciate greatly. The office is VERY clean, well kept, and there is water, coffee, tea, and other refreshments available in the wait room. Theres also a 2 TVs and a playstation, presumably for kids who might have to wait while parents or siblings are being seen. During the procedures, your room has 2 TVs mounted for distractions, including one overhead with subtitles always on (Lol, small details) for some additional distraction - normally tuned to HGTV, but the staff is always attentive and willing to change the channel if you prefer. Overall, I cannot recommend Dr. Surh enough. I've sent anyone who needs dental work to him and they all say the same - excellent service. Now the only downside: I have is that this man is the only DDS on site, so to see him, you may have to wait to see him. I promise you though, its worth the wait.

Husband went in and had his teeth cleaned. He told me they wanted a ton of new paperwork filled out. I am covered under his plan, so my SS is not necessary for them to have. I went in for my cleaning and was given paperwork to fill in under the guise that they wanted to update my "health" information. I told the gal that nothing had changed and I didn't wish to fill it out. She said "if you don't fill this out we will cancel your appointment and you will have to pay $75". I was upset that that but took the papers and filled them out, leaving out my SS. She looked at my filled in forms and said they needed my SS. I said "no you don't, I'm covered under my husbands, and you have always been paid in the past". She said if you don't provide it you have to pay the $75 for a cancelled appt. I was flabbergasted! I didn't want to act out (wanted to badly) so I actually paid the $75 because THEY CANCELLED MY APPT!! Later my husband called them and was told that they want everyone's social because if they don't get paid it's the way they take someone to collections. No consideration for us as individuals, they have always been paid by us. No bending their new rules. The words "this is our policy" came up over and over. Dental care is not their priority now, money is. Now we will have to find a new dentist.

I've been to several dentists and hygienists throughout my life and I can honestly say I've never…read morebeen more relaxed or comfortable with a dentist, hygienists or office staff as I have been on several visits to Dr. Appel. The staff is friendly, helpful and welcoming. Dr. Appel talks to you prior to any work being done, and explains it as well during his process. His hygienists do the same. Their concern for my comfort seems to be a high priority, which I totally appreciate. If I had found someone like Dr. Appel and his staff earlier in my life I would never have had the anxiety of going to the dentist that I did have for many years.

I had a broken crown replaced and kept biting the inside of my cheek. The cheek biting continued for a year and I would do it as well in my sleep and randomly wake up. As a result I developed anxiety and at 60 something started grinding my teeth in my sleep. I did some research and found my problem is from the tooth being set too far outside and would have been an easy fix, instead of the bull crap reason I was given. Different doctor previously in that same office capped the exact same tooth originally and I had zero problems. Not to mention Appel "ground down" multiple other teeth getting them ready to be capped which is expensive and wasn't going to happen right away. Those teeth have sharp edges, cut my tongue and cause me constant problems. I feel like my insurance was milked, my teeth ruined, and as a result I have problems that were unnecessary. I will NEVER go back.

He carefully talked our daughter through the upcoming procedure with reassurance and kindness. This was just what she needed, because she typically experiences anxiety before her medical or dental appointments. With Dr. Landis, on the morning we were driving over for her wisdom teeth removal, she was totally calm and relaxed with no anxiety. Dr. Landis is just seriously such a wonderful physician.
