It's a kindergarten to grade 6 elementary school. One of the best things about this school is they have full day kindergarten. It was one of the reasons I chose the school. The fact that we only live a few blocks away was just a bonus. There is a fairly new playground and a huge field for the kids to play in. The kids get to do community walks in the neighborhood, and sometimes deliver cards and such to homes in the area. A wonderful small elementary school. Happy that my daughter will get to enjoy this school for years to come.

The teachers are very knowledgeable in early childhood development and it shows in their interactions with the children. It was a teacher that brought it to the principals attention, and the principal who told us, and then stopped it. Schools are only as effective as their administration. This schools administrators really care about the kids. Ultimately, kids are kids. Christian kids are no different. Over the years we have witnessed many kind, considerate, selfless acts. As a smaller school, we don't seem to have the same scale of issues that the public schools have. The teaching staff is exemplary. There isn't one that my kids couldn't turn to for help. They're invested. I know of a certain male high school teacher, that went snowshoeing with a female student and her family and his, because that's just who he is. The countless hours they volunteer to coach sports teams, lead the kids in a catering event for 200 people or just pray with your child who needs it. This school has created an environment that's pretty special. It's hard when you leave it because you realize truly what it really is. So, if you're looking for a school that meets those criteria...LWCA is definitely the school for your family!

They do a different theme each month with a themed craft most days. They also have story time, free play time, carpet time each day and field trips at least once a month. They go outside as often as they can with our silly Alberta weather. I feel like this preschool has prepared him so well for French Immersion kindergarten and made him such a little independent boy. I will be sending my youngest this upcoming school year too. If you are looking for an amazing south side French preschool, definitely send your child to Les Bouts D'Choux.

I've decided to review local Edmonton businesses and institutions as they are for Fringe venues…read morebecause I'm a Fringe and Yelper nerd like that. So keeping that in mind this review is for The Academy at King Edward as a BYOV (bring your own venue) for The Edmonton International Fringe Festival. This is not a review for The Academy at King Edward as an educational institution. This is also not a review of any shows I've seen here. Let's go. The Academy at King Edward (which I'll shorten to Academy for this review) is one of the better BYOVs for the Fringe. It is away from the main site, but there is a box office right across the street, which is really nice. And from working The Fringe box office before I can tell you that the King Edward box office is much quieter than the other one (less lineups = yay!). There is parking by Kind Edward School (which is the venue right across the street). It's a little pricy. You might be able to find parking on the street, but it's a residential area so this could be limited. The seating for The Academy is on stepped platforms, so you're sitting at a higher level than the rows below you. This is great because unless you get The Friendly Giant in front of you (or you're really short) you'll probably be able to see the stage well. There is professional lighting and sound at this venue, which is nice. I don't know if there's AC inside, but I've never found this venue to be super hot. The chairs are foldout chairs, so like most Fringe shows the seating isn't super comfortable, but for an hour it's alright. Two bad things about The Academy. One is you don't have access to any washrooms inside. There's a port-a-potty outside if you're desperate, but if you can wait and walk 5 minutes to the washrooms inside at the main box office I'd suggest that. The other thing is that this venue is right across the street from the King Edward Elementary School venue. It's really easy to get confused and accidentally wait in line at the wrong venue. Just be sure to double check that you're at the right venue for the show you are seeing.

Nowadays they focus way too much on safety and take out anything that could be remotely dangerous.. I guess that's a sigh of relief for parents but kids just want to play. Now the park has been completely modified. It's much smaller and they have taken out all the best things, like the giant tires, and replaced them with swings and other boring stuff. The school does have a huge playground though, with a few soccer fields and baseball diamond. It's great for anyone that likes to organize their own games with their friends on the weekends.
