Great visits here. Our doctor has been awesome. Hopefully, this is our last visit. Today was a…read moresnowy day, and I made it here safely. Will be here for a few hours. Building has a few restaurants, banks, stores, and a pharmacy. This building is located next to the historic Fisher building. If you come in from the Fisher building, the skywalk walkway is on the 2nd floor to go into the Ford Medical Center.

So... love the doctors here. Desk staff is always friendly! Would be 5 stars however this building has increasingly become less handicap friendly. Last visit there's barely any room to walk past the giant partition blocking entrance when you enter the building, a wheelchair would not fit. I don't feel safe with my car in the lot now that there is now that the lot is owned by another company. The security guards are all always huddled at the main desk hanging out together instead of at their posted positions. The new parking lot company is WAY more expensive than previous lot owners. The parking reimbursement would not work at my last visit, everyone passed the buck. I put a help ticket in on the metropolis app just to make sure what the valet employee told me was true about a refund, and the app closed the ticket because I did not do it right away. I had another appointment to get to and was already walking all over with a cane trying to get help. On top of this at my last visit I saw they had removed all the handicap parking spots and I had to park farther away. Being a medical center, these issues need serious addressing.

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Graham. He was very patient and kind. I would definitely…read morerecommend him as a physician.

Dr. Graham spent a total of five minutes with me. Considering I had an appointment and waited over…read moretwo hours before I was taken to an exam room and another 45 minutes before seeing the physician, I think I should have been given a thorough history assessment and examination. I selected this place as I live downtown and it was one of the providers that was in network for my health insurance. Unfortunately I am very unimpressed. Beyond the poor exam and overall experience it does get worse. I called the office on a Monday when I got an email regarding my results. My original appointment was on a Wednesday. That Monday I requested antibiotics which were necessary based on the results however I never got a response back from the office personnel who stated the provider Dr. Theodore Graham was only in on Wednesday's. I am writing this on a Friday, over a week since my appointment and still have not received a follow up. Luckily I work in the medical field and was able to reach out to a provider after hours on Monday when I never got a response back from the office, the provider unaffiliated with this organization called in my prescription and noticed me immediately so that I could begin the course of therapy before the pharmacy closed for the evening. Whatever you do, do NOT go to this facility if you want to be treated with dignity and given the proper care you deserve.

I hope this building is not demolished. The photo of it is so wonderful. They don't build like this…read moretoday. It was designed by Albert Kahn who was sometimes called the "architect of Detroit"! I know a family with the last name Kiefer. One of the children is named Byron. When I clicked on the map to see the location I zoomed in and noticed that a street running next to the 'hospital' is named Byron St. I am intrigued. I wonder about this family that is 'up north' and what relationship if any they have to the original founders. I was looking at Michigan locations on asylumprojects.org and the map location brought me to Yelp. Here is a link if allowed http://www.asylumprojects.org/index.php/Herman_Kiefer_Hospital I will add a picture as well from that page. The photo does not say who to credit. The link under the drawing takes me to a page about the "Sanborn" map. "It states Sanborn Maps is an American publisher of historical and current maps of U.S. cities and towns that were initially created to estimate fire insurance liabilities. The company's maps are frequently used for preservation and restoration efforts." Due to the age of the Sanborn map I hope it is free to use and I am crediting the authors correctly.

Ok, yeah, I said in my review before "as far as I know the structure is in good shape" . . . well …read more . . not so much. As every Detroiter probably now knows, the damn roof caved in because the city hired contractors to repaint areas that had suffered acute water damage but didn't bother to fix the underlyng structural issue first so that more water leaked in and finally brought the roof down into the nice, freshly-painted offices they just renovated. Fail. And a pity, seriously, because this building could be a great, historic, renovated and re-purposed facility if the money and drive to do such could be found. As it is, it will probably linger on housing city/county workers until there's a really dreadful accident or it just becomes unfit for anything but rodents. Then it will probably be abandoned. Then it will fall into the same sad state as so many other large structures in Detroit. :[
