It's located at North Park Community Park - the north east corner (closest corner to the water tower). There is a big and small dog park section. I've seen these dog parks grow thru the years. The big dog park use to have grass and now and for the past several year it's just DIRT. The small dog park also use to have grass but now it's those weird dry grass stuff and dirt. The small dog park isn't as used as the big dog park. And if the big dog park is closed off for cleaning everyone moves their big dogs into the small dog park (which is tiny) and there isn't room for small dogs to play safely. A lot of regulars and same faces. My previous Pom enjoyed the normal community park as she was well behaved without a leash. Yes, outside of the dog areas dogs are to be leashed but many dogs that are well behaved out playing in the grass area. There are MANY respectful owners watching their dogs. Wednesdays some of the neighbor peeps meet up in the grass area. I bring my new dog there to socialize her and she refuses to leave. She will lay on the grass and won't get up when it's time to leave. I have a soft spot for this park as I've seen it transform from it being just a dump to what it is now. We heart North Park.

The only thing this park is missing is shade and more parking. Other than that, it's great! There are two play structures, one for big kids and another for little ones. It's walking distance to a lot of restaurants and coffee shops which is a plus!

The majority of the times, I'm people watching, walking, reading/relaxing, and/or taking nature pictures. It's sooo green with grass, trees and flowers. You'll see a beauuutiful view of Mission Valley. For the kiddos, there are playground with slides, swing set, and climbing. It's dog friendly too but have your fur babies on leash. The only down side is no public restrooms.

It should be noted that this park is *NOT enclosed*, making it's proximity to Florida Dr. a perilous one. So, if your dog is prone to wandering off, this is probably not the best park for you. I can get over the lack of grass, fence, seating, clogged doggie water fountains and open ditches because there are plenty of poop bags and shade here and there. Plus, the surrounding trails nearby make for an enjoyable stroll. And my girl definitely loves to walk rather than socialize with her kind because she's a grumpy old woman who enjoys the company of her owner. No complaints there. I'll still stop in here and there, although Balboa Park and Grape Street are definitely better options.

We typically do "laps" around the park to make sure the pups get their energy out. I always say, "A good basenji is a tired basenji." I like going in the mornings because it's less busy. There is tons of free street parking on the parks perimeter. The green space has a couple of picnic tables to sit, but it was basically an area that dog owners were using to play fetch with their dogs. It could be suitable for picnics, playing football, playing soccer or playing catch. The dog park is just a dirt area with a fence around it. It was packed. The playground area is on a bed of sand with rubber surfaced walkways. There is a bank of traditional swings, a bank of toddler swings, a large jungle gym with a bridge and some slides, a smaller jungle gym with some slides. and some things to slide and climb on. I am not sure if it is part of the park or not, but their is an ball field, that is in OK condition there. But it was locked up tight with a huge fence and no one can get onto the field. The bathroom facility was locked up too for some reason. You will find a desolate recreation center. I would assume that it is no longer operational or functional by the way it looks. The roof is in despair and the building is falling apart. This park has lots of potential, but has a long way to go. It seems to be neglected by the city. As it stands now, I would probably pass this park up and find a another spot to hang out.

loved everything they offered at this park. the best part was there was no admission fee. so great…read moreexperience our overnight stay in san diego and able to walk around this beautiful park. such great architecture. we werent able to venture the whole park but gives us a reason to come back ! highly recommend. prepare to walk use some good comfortable foot wear. i wore sandals and it was tolerable. make sure to bring water. we didn't necessarily need too as we only stayed for at least an hour and a half but i didnt see drinking fountains or anywhere to refill so id consider. depending on the time, you do pay for parking. it also depends in where you park so pricing varies. i noticed that there was a lot of runners here to! might come by to do a fun run one of these days when im back in town overall fun experience. would definitely come back and explore more!

It is the most picture perfect spot and I really enjoyed walking around here. My favorite spot was the reflecting pool in front of the Botanical Building. It is so picturesque and peaceful. I even spotted a cute little turtle right by the pond. Visiting Balboa Park was a wonderful way to spend the day exploring. It is definitely a spot where I could easily spend several hours . There's plenty to discover here!

Anyways today we grilled some kabobs with my mini grill I got for Christmas. This multi-use park/complex is amazing. 10/10.

Recently my Cross Country team and I have had two races at this park and they were definitely two…read moreVERY different experiences. The first time we raced I ran a 5K on a very hilly course. While the course was definitely a excruciating experience and would still say the experience overall positive since the course was fairly well maintained and the commentator was very enjoyable and enthusiastic. Unfortunately my team's second race wasn't as positive. Our race was cancelled due to heat which was disappointing. Though I will say it was fairly impressive how quickly the volunteers were packing up the course. Finally, I would like to mention that the bathrooms were very disgusting and I can see why even with these bathrooms the nearby port-John's were still way more popular. The park overall was fairly clean and had several different attractions so even though I had some negative experiences I would still rate my experience four stars.

I would recommend a light jacket-- of course depending on the day. They have clean restrooms with sinks to wash your hands outside, but no paper towels or drying station. They had many choices of where to sit, where to play, even tables to eat, and more. People rollerblading, skateboarding, yoga, playing soccer, this spot is full of life! I really enjoyed my time here as even the birds and butterflies were all flying around. I will happily come back to explore more of what this park has to offer.
