I recently visited four liquor stores to see if any of them were familiar with providing guidance…read morein supplying liquor for a wedding. I was looking for guidance more than price, although price was very important as well since I was buying such a large quantity. All were useless and uninterested except Buy Rite. I was very fortunate to encounter General Manager James Chambers who was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. He repeatedly answered my questions via email and gave me a basic list and quantity that I was able to build on to meet the specific tastes and serve all my guests generously. The wedding was an amazing success and we had everything our guests wanted with just a small quantity remaining. I felt I benefited from Mr. Chambers expertise and Buy Rites' exceptional prices. Kam had our order ready right on time and was just as helpful. They keep a well managed, clean and ordered store. I would highly recommend them.

Ok ... they got me! So excited to see an email from them in the morning with raffle for a "cooler…read morebag & goodies" from a local brewery we love. We decided to make a special trip to stop in after dinner that night ... especially as we were running low on our beer supply. While DH was checking out their craft beers notably from Other Half Brewing ... yes, it's a decent selection but priced a bit higher than others at $22.99 (4 pack) ... I decided to find the "raffle box at the front registers" to submit my entry for a shot at the cooler bag. Hmm ... it didn't seem to be there. Looked around the store some more ... still no luck. Found a nice employee to help and she couldn't find it either even after looking in the back too. She said it's usually up front right next to the checkout registers (as advertised in the email) ... but it's not there and all managers have gone for the (Saturday) night. Ended up having DH put his beer back and gave our rolling basket to another young man (who thanked us as he was struggling with holding his 4 six-packs) and off we went to our usual place Clayton Liquors for their crowler/growler fills in addition to the best service and best beer selection around. Wow ... they really got me to come into the store for a "non-existent" raffle?!? We used to come to Buy Rite often (even before they changed their name a few times - as it's the closest place to our house) ... but stopped a while back as one of their old cashiers is pretty rude. We do try to support local businesses and this place does have everything you need ... but now it has 2 strikes in our book. We'll have to see if we go back ... maybe for another good raffle ... huh!

I normally love Cinder Bar, but unfortunately, after my experience yesterday, I don't think I can…read morereturn. I have been coming here since they first opened, and it has always been one of my favorite spots. Over the years, the food has consistently been great and I've always had good experiences with the service, which makes yesterday especially disappointing. From the beginning, it seemed like our server had far too many tables and was overwhelmed with the workload. We initially ordered our appetizers, and when she brought them out, we told her we were ready to put in our entrées. She said okay, but then did not return to our table for another 20 minutes to actually take our order. We were left sitting there waiting despite already telling her we were ready to order. I completely understand that restaurants get busy and that servers can be stretched thin. However, the lack of attention to our table made the entire experience frustrating, especially at a restaurant where I've had such consistently good service in the past. Unfortunately, the food was also not up to the quality I've come to expect from Cinder Bar. To make matters worse, after eating there, I became extremely sick with symptoms consistent with food poisoning. I normally wouldn't let one bad experience erase years of positive ones, but between the extremely slow service, disappointing food, and becoming sick afterward, this experience was bad enough that I no longer feel comfortable returning. It's genuinely disappointing because Cinder Bar has been one of my favorite restaurants since they opened, and I have recommended it to others many times. I really hope management looks into both the staffing situation and what may have happened with the food that day, because yesterday's experience was completely different from the Cinder Bar I've known and enjoyed for years.

Good memories. So I'll admit it: I walked in with low expectations. My wife dropped me off while she went shopping. Word-of-mouth hadn't exactly sold me. It was freezing outside, and I figured I'd just kill some time. Turns out, I was wrong. The beer selection is huge. Not just long for the sake of being long, but a tap list that actually makes you pause and think about what you're ordering. That alone already puts this place on solid footing. Because of the cold, I kept it simple and ordered soup--and it was very, very good. Hot, comforting, and done right. No gimmicks. Just solid food when you need it most. House of Brews didn't just fill the space left behind--it improved it. I went in expecting not much and left pleasantly surprised. That's always a good sign.
