I then began searching for a new attorney and spoke with several specialists before finding Ann Gottesman. From our very first phone conversation and meeting at her office, I knew I could completely trust her with my case. After thoroughly reviewing my situation, Ann honestly explained that because of my prior record and the circumstances of my case, the chances of getting my charge reduced were extremely low. She was straightforward and did not want me to spend unnecessary attorney fees pursuing unrealistic expectations. Even so, I asked her to continue and do everything possible for my case. Throughout the entire process, Ann guided me step by step and clearly explained everything I needed to do. English is my second language, but she always took the time to make sure I fully understood every detail. She consistently kept me informed about updates in my case and responded promptly whenever I texted or emailed her. Ann is calm, knowledgeable, professional, and highly respected. It was clear to me that her experience and communication skills carried significant weight with the district attorney's office. After nearly a year of persistent work -- including personal conversations, texts, and emails with the district attorney supervisor -- she was eventually able to negotiate a reduced charge for my case. One thing I learned from this experience is how important it is to have an attorney who is familiar with the court system, judges, and district attorneys. Everything I read in Ann's reviews turned out to be completely true. By the end of my case, the outcome itself almost became secondary because I was so impressed by Ann's dedication, honesty, and hard work. She truly treated my case as if she genuinely cared about me as a person, not just as a client. She went above and beyond in every aspect and even continued to help and support me after the case was over. Ann deserves far more than 5 stars -- not only because she achieved a favorable result, but because she truly cares about her clients. If you need legal representation, I highly recommend Ann Gottesman. She is the one attorney who will genuinely help and support you every step of the way.

Since I had never been through anything like this before, having someone who was willing to patiently walk me through the process made a huge difference. I don't write many reviews, but after the outcome of my case, I felt David Russomanno deserved one…read more I am an attorney myself, so I am extremely particular about who I trust to represent me. This was also not an ordinary legal matter. It was a highly contested dual restraining order case with significant personal and professional consequences for me, and the outcome was extremely important. I was the person who originally filed for a restraining order. After my petition was filed, the other party filed a competing restraining order request against me. In my view, the other petition essentially took many of the issues and allegations I had raised, mirrored them back against me, and created a false and misleading narrative portraying me as the wrongdoer. Suddenly, I wasn't just pursuing my own restraining order--I also had to defend myself against serious allegations that I knew were not true. Being an attorney didn't make that easier. In some ways, it made it more difficult. When someone is making false statements about you and your reputation and career are potentially at stake, your instinct is to respond to everything and immediately correct every misrepresentation. This is where David's representation really made a difference. From the beginning, David had a strategy and a plan. He understood that we couldn't simply react to every accusation the other side made. We needed to take control of the narrative, establish the chronology of what actually happened, identify the inconsistencies in the competing petition, organize the evidence, and present the complete story to the court. As a lawyer myself, there were certainly times when I had my own ideas about how we should respond or what we should emphasize. But I also recognized that I was personally invested in the case and needed someone who could remain objective. I trusted David's judgment, followed his guidance, and allowed him to execute the strategy we had developed. That trust paid off. When it came time for the hearing, we were prepared. David was able to cut through what could easily have become a confusing "he said/she said" situation involving two competing restraining order petitions. David was able to join the cases before the first hearing date. Then at the hearing he first succeeded in modifying the other party's temporary orders by presenting the evidence and sequence of events in a way that allowed the court to understand what had actually occurred and see through the false narrative being presented against me. After David modified the temporary order the other party wanted a 2nd call to speak to David and he persuaded the party to drop their restraining order. Looking back, I have an even greater appreciation for David's strategy. He wasn't concerned with winning every small argument or reacting emotionally to every allegation. He was thinking several steps ahead and positioning the case so that when it mattered most--in front of the judge--we were ready. As a fellow attorney, I understand the difference between simply knowing the law and knowing how to strategically litigate a difficult case. When you're personally involved, however, maintaining that same objectivity becomes incredibly difficult. David provided that objectivity while also understanding just how important the outcome was to me. This case had enormous personal and professional importance to me. I put my trust in David Russomanno's judgment, preparation, and strategy, and he delivered the result we were working toward. As both a client and a fellow attorney, I highly recommend David. If you are dealing with a complicated or highly contested restraining order matter--particularly one involving competing allegations--you want someone who can look beyond the accusations, focus on the evidence, develop a strategy, and effectively present the true story to the court. That's exactly what David did for me.

I hired David after a California domestic violence restraining order petition was filed against me…read moreby a family member. I live out of state, had never been in this type of situation before, and was terrified--not only because of the court process, but because of the possible professional consequences if the case went badly. The first law firm I hired reviewed the facts and essentially concluded that I was probably going to lose. I then found David, and from the very first conversation, it was clear he saw the case differently. He did not minimize the situation or sugarcoat anything, but he immediately understood that there was more going on than what appeared on paper. He had a command of the procedural issues, the courtroom dynamics, and the strategy in a way that gave me confidence when I had almost none left. What stood out most was that David was not just technically excellent--he was creative, strategic, responsive, and genuinely caring. He understood my state of mind, took my fears seriously, and explained his plan in a way that made me feel protected rather than judged. He was always available when I needed him and treated the case with urgency and humanity. In the end, my mother and I did not even have to fly to California or appear remotely. David appeared for us, spoke directly with the other side at court, and by the time the matter resumed, the petitions against both of us were dropped. That result was an enormous relief. I went from believing I was about to lose everything to walking away with the case dismissed. David is the kind of lawyer people hope exists when they are scared and overwhelmed--the kind of lawyer you see in movies but do not expect to find in real life. I am incredibly grateful that I called him and trusted him.

If professionalism, respect, and determination is what you're looking for then Barcena Law Offices is a perfect fit for you.

Noreen was my lawyer, recommended to me by her father, Gustavo Barcena. Unfortunately, I was very…read moredisappointed with many aspects of my experience. I'm writing this review in hopes that Noreen has improved in these areas, including the way her staff handles cases and communicates with clients. Here are a few areas where, based solely on my personal experience, I believe there was room for improvement: * Speaking confidently and professionally during court proceedings * Being knowledgeable and prepared regarding the details of a client's case * Knowing her clients and their basic case information * Meeting filing deadlines * Communication with clients and their families I do have to acknowledge that not everything about my experience was bad. Noreen did ultimately help get me released from the Adelanto Detention Center. I was not released at my first bond hearing, but I was eventually released at my six-month Rodriguez bond hearing. I am grateful for that. However, during court proceedings, I often felt that Noreen struggled to speak to the judge fluently, confidently, and professionally. She would frequently get stuck, stutter, or appear to scramble for the right words. In my opinion, part of the reason seemed to be a lack of preparation regarding the details of my case. I understand that attorneys can have many clients and that it can be difficult to keep track of every detail. However, there were times when I felt as though she went into court without being fully prepared for my case. During court, she would sometimes pause and ask me for important information. For example, on one occasion she stopped and asked me, "Where did you enter the USA?" There were also multiple occasions when she got my name wrong during court. As a client, I would at least expect my attorney to know my correct name and basic information about my case. There were also many times when the judge would stop the proceedings and correct or scold her because of incorrect or missing information. At times, these exchanges were embarrassing to witness. She would apologize to the judge and then continue after providing or obtaining the correct information. In my case specifically, there were also issues with filing deadlines. There were times when the judge would ask her why something had not been filed. Her responses would be along the lines of, "I'm sorry, Your Honor, I just sent it in," or that she had the paperwork with her and would be submitting it while requesting additional time. From my perspective, these issues caused unnecessary delays in my case. After I was released from the Adelanto Detention Center, I was applying for cancellation of removal. Because I had been released and my case was continuing, I expected her to apply for a work permit for me. In my case, that did not happen for months. Eventually, she filed for it. Later, when that work permit was approaching expiration, I was not notified that I needed to apply for a renewal. As a result, I ultimately lost my work authorization. My family and I also gave her hundreds and hundreds of dollars throughout my case. There were times when she requested funds for applications that, to my understanding, were ultimately not filed. While I was detained at Adelanto, she asked my family for a $1,800 money order to file Form I-485 through my spouse. My family provided the money order so that the application could be filed, even though my case was not yet at that stage. Eventually, I stopped providing additional money, and Noreen withdrew from my case. I asked her to refund any unused funds associated with forms or applications that had been requested but were never filed. Her response was that those funds had been used to file for my work permit. Unfortunately, things became more difficult after she withdrew from my case because I needed to obtain my case file from her. This was one of the hardest parts of the entire experience. I was told that part of my file had been shredded and that some documents had been provided to me electronically in PDF format. I was also told that another portion of my file was in storage and could not immediately be accessed. It took several weeks before I finally received part of my file, while I was told that the remainder had already been shredded. In the end, I can't simply say that Noreen is a bad lawyer. Perhaps I hired her during the earlier years of her career and while she was still building her practice. Maybe she took on too many cases at once. I honestly don't know. What I do know is that, based on my personal experience, I would not hire her again to represent me in court. I see that Noreen is now very involved in the community, and I genuinely hope that she has grown from her earlier experiences and continues to improve her practice. Most importantly, I hope she is able to provide strong representation and truly help others who are in need.
