Wow. William was an amazing instructor for our daughter. Extremely diligent with his communications, time management and thorough with his instructions. He recommended for her last appointment to be the day of her drivers test. He went through the routes near the dmv, worked on things that we had mentioned and made sure to follow up with her. He always arrived on time and ended on time. I would highly recommend William for anyone that needs drivers training. read more

William was a fantastic instructor for our daughter. He was very helpful improving turns backing up changing lanes. He gave her lots of tips for the test. He explained things very well was a good communicator. He was kind and professional - 5 stars read more

We were referred to William through a close family friend whose son had just recently passed his driver's license test on the first try. William was incredibly responsive in communication and had great availability. But most importantly, he has a very patient and thorough teaching style that gave her all the confidence she needed as she prepared for her driver's license test. Both she and I were very pleased with his approach and she successfully passed her driver's test the first time. I would recommend him to any parent and driving student. read more

William Hill is an outstanding driving instructor. I have three kids, and with our first child we used a different instructor who mostly just provided behind-the-wheel time with very little actual instruction. The difference with William was night and day. A friend recommended William when our second child was ready to learn, and I am so grateful they did. He takes time before and after each lesson to explain techniques, review what was practiced, and clearly outline what to work on next. He truly prepares students for the driving test, including sharing specific insights into what test administrators are looking for. Because of his thoroughness and thoughtful approach, I feel completely confident recommending William--even to my most selective friends. On top of all that, his pricing is very reasonable for the level of instruction and care he provides. An excellent value and an excellent instructor. read more

I trained with William and he was SO AMAZING. He helped me gain confidence, taught me how to drive practically in every situation, and of course prepared me perfectly for my driving test. I started not knowing what I was doing and in about 6-7 classes I passed the test super easily :)) read more

William is the best instructor trust me!. Run to him & you'll pass the first try!!!!!

He is a thorough and kind instructor who goes the extra mile. My daughter was grateful we chose him and passed the test on the first time.

William is a great instructor who will teach you how to drive! I had a couple of classes with him, and he made me really confident in driving! He will teach you from A to Z and how to pass the test! I pass behind-the-wheel test on the first attempt, and it's all thanks to William! Thank you William! read more

Upon reading his wonderful reviews on Yelp, I decided to take a lesson from William, which was interesting and unfortunately unpleasant, for the following reasons: 1. He and his car heavily smelled of cigarettes. It was pretty dirty and not a good place to be stuck for 2 hours, even with an open window. 2. He is quite impatient, tense, and he has scolded me a couple of times for non-critical mistakes, which increases one's stress and doesn't help at all. For example: He said something like "he'll do x, y," and I said "Who? The DMV professional?" instead of saying DMV examiner. He got visibly upset, saying with a raised voice "Yeah of course they are professionals"...Like dude chill, I forgot the correct term was DMV examiner and said professional instead. How is this a big deal... 3. For a full two hour-long lesson, we only did left and right turns. No lane changes, no backing up etc. which gave me the impression that it'd be a longer learning period compared to other instructors. I looked up driving lesson videos and noticed people learning a lot more even in the first class. After finding a Daly City driving school's Youtube page and seeing the fullness of their first class content, I decided to book with them. My first lesson was a lot more different, much more practice of different scenarios, and practicing the routes. They were more patient and provided tips and tricks. After working with them, I passed the driving exam on the first try. If you're coming into this process with nerves and looking for a stress-free learning experience, this unfortunately isn't it. Hope this review helps someone else save their money... read more

William Driving Instructor - Here's the screenshot of my Zelle to you William for his recollection - Driving Schools Near Me - San Francisco, California

William's a terrific driving instructor! How do I know? My son passed today, first time :) I should also say how much my son (who's not an easy audience) liked William's style, and became not only more confident but much smoother, and without question a better driver overall. William is easy to communicate with. He responds very quickly and it's straightforward to arrange appointments. He came to my son's school and to our house for pickup/dropoff and did not include that travel time in the two hours we paid for. So that makes life easier! In the days before the test, William sent a shortlist of things to focus on before the test, and replied to our last minute questions on best practices etc. 100% recommended! read more

It's an unforgettable experience. I learnt to drive on the freeway in his classes. In the beginning, I was very worried because of the situation in the freeway and my driving skill. Yet, I got used to drive faster and safer later on, 5x or 6x will not be as scary as I think. Lastly, thank you for teaching & trusting me during this learning period. It allows me to step out of my comfort zone and encourage me to be a hardworking person. If I rate the experience by numbers, I will give 9/10. read more

We recommend William without reservation! Our 17 year old son returned from his first session with William MUCH more confident in driving. Once we scheduled his behind-the-wheel test, William worked with us to schedule our final 2 sessions (one session about a month before the test to assess his skills, then one session the day before the test to practice around the Daly City DMV). Our son passed on his first attempt! William is pleasant and easy to work with, and responds by text within a few hours. We did have to wait a couple of weeks to schedule our son's first session as William is very busy, but he is well worth waiting for! read more

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND WILLIAM TO BE YOUR DRIVING INSTRUCTOR! I PASSED MY BEHIND THE WHEEL TEST IN DALY CITY ON MY FIRST TRY! I was looking for a driving instructor here on Yelp last August 2021 because I wanted to take my behind the wheel test ASAP. Out of all the driving instructors/schools I messaged for an inquiry, William was the one who responded quickly. I saw his yelp reviews & they were mostly positive feedbacks. There were some driving instructors/schools who responded to me but they charge at an expensive rate compared to William. He charges at an affordable price, 120 USD for 2 hours of driving lesson (I think his rate depends on the location though). I reached out to him to set up an appointment for a driving lesson. I originally had my behind the wheel test appointment at Redwood city on September 23, 2021 but he recommended some place where I can easily pass the test. Daly city was one of them. I told him I was kind of hesitant to take the test in Daly city because I have heard some rumors that it is hard to pass there & the roads are scary(steep/uphill/downhill). He mentioned that it's actually harder to pass in Redwood city if you are not 100 percent confident in driving around an area which has a lot of 4-way stop signs. So, I had to re-think about that. Lol We had a driving lesson last September 18, 2021 for 2 hours. He has a great approach. He picked me up and dropped me off at my address. He asked me first if I have a background in driving and then he gave an orientation inside his car. I appreciate that he used a white board and "toy cars" to help discuss the rules of the road. Also, he used an iPad to show pictures of actual signages that he took on the road. It's very helpful especially if you are a visual learner. We then proceeded to drive. He taught me a lot of things to pass the road test and on how to be a safe driver. After our first driving session, he asked me if I wanted to take the test in Daly City. I told him the earliest appointment in Daly City is on November 2021 and I want to take the test ASAP due to my work schedule. He said "Do not worry! I can get you an appointment." Later that night, he called to let me know he set up a behind the wheel appointment already at DMV Daly City today (September 20, 2021). I don't really know how he did it but I am grateful because he went out of his way to squeeze me an appointment in DMV Daly City. We practiced for another 1.5 hrs a day before my driving test because he wanted to make sure I pass my road test. (He wants the best for his students, trust me !) I'm telling you guys, if you are looking for a sign on who to hire as your driving instructor, contact William now! He is really nice. He complimented me occasionally which is really uplifting. Every time I made mistakes, he would just advice me on what to improve and how to improve it. He helped me build my confidence in driving. He can accompany his students to their driving test day and let them use his car, but unfortunately, he already had a prior commitment today (September 20, 2021) with another student. He linked me up with another person though who could accompany me in the day of my test and he took care of everything. He still made sure i get to take my BTW test today. So yes guys, I finally have a drivers license now. I passed the behind the wheel test in DMV Daly on my first try! I am so happy. I am grateful to William for helping me out. Contact him now guys! You won't regret it. read more

William Driving Instructor - Behind the wheel test result - Driving Schools Near Me - San Francisco, California

Mr Hill is the best driving instructor out there! He is so patient and friendly-- never a dull moment during his lessons. He also uses little car figurines and draws out different road scenarios on a whiteboard which really helps if you're a visual learner. I was very nervous before my driving exam but he gave me a pep talk and really calmed my nerves. 10/10 highly recommend :D read more

Much love for William Awesome Teacher. Supportive motivator. Especially patient. Clear and concise communicator. Overall, a positive driving guidance experience. I am a young adult student (early 20s) with very little driving experience. Born and raised in San Francisco, a city with really great light rail services and walking distances. I'm moving to LA to finish college, and I definitely need to know how to drive around there. Driving has always been intimidating for me, but thankfully I had William as my instructor. I've taken two lessons from William. The first time, I was clearly not confident, yet, with Williams words of encouragement, I was able to drive on the freeway. The second lesson was for my own driving proficiency. With each course, William reassured my driving abilities. I loved his little car demonstration presentations! Super cute and comforting. After much practice, he was able to make an appointment for me when I was unable to do so. I actually ended up failing my first driving test, my nerves got the best of me. Fortunately, once again, William was able to schedule another test for me, aligned within my move-in date time crunch. As of today, I was able to redeem myself, and I finally achieved my drivers license!!! I highly recommend William, 100%. Sincerely kind and considerate. Great teacher and a good person. He's taught my brother and my friends. Forever my go-to driving teacher. Learn to drive from William. read more

When my daughter received her learner's permit, I planned to contact William to teach her but she insisted on trying her friend's driving instructor. Since my children have different learning styles, we gave the other guy a try. However, as we practiced with her, it seemed like her foundation wasn't as strong as what my son learned from William. So I contacted William, and she made tremendous improvement after their first lesson together. She agreed that William is definitely a better teacher and continued with him. She successfully passed her driving test today on the first try! read more

William was a great driving instructor for teaching fundamentals - he showed me how to turn well at controlled and uncontrolled intersections and the tricky spots that often catch beginners off guard around the San Mateo DMV area. While it had been a long time since I last drove, I was able to get up to speed with two lessons from William and passed my test the first time at San Mateo DMV, with additional help from driving instructor Kenny from Push Start Driving to refine areas of improvement. read more

Don't waste your time searching for a different driving school! I called several establishments prior to finding William. They were all extremely expensive and had little availability. William was responsive and accommodating. My son needed to get his hours completed quick with only 2 weeks to spare before his DMV appt. William fit us into his schedule and picked my son up from our house which was very convenient. My son passed his test the first try. Thank you again William! read more

Mr. Hill is an amazing instructor. I began lessons in mid-march 2021 with him and after less than 10 lessons, I took my test and passed the first try! He is very knowledgeable, helpful, and encouraging. Driving with him is stress free because he is a calm instructor. He will teach you important tips for the test, but also for practical everyday driving. He will prepare you well for the test so you don't need to be nervous at all! I definitely recommend him. read more

Very pleasant but didn't give me much feedback. I did a lesson with William recently. He was very kind but didn't give me much feedback at the end. I would have appreciated if perhaps he could have pulled me aside and given me guidance at points throughout the two hour lesson and then perhaps after as my goal is to pass my driving test. He seemed quite impatient and tense throughout the lesson which I understand- it's probably very stressful teaching learner drivers but it impacted my confidence behind the wheel and made me more prone to mistakes. read more

William is an amazing driving instructor. I had learned how to do basic driving and thought I knew how to drive but boy I was wrong. Right on the first lesson, he explains all the intersection rules and you learn a lot! He was able to book me an appointment super fast and I passed on the first try! Highly recommend reaching out to William as a driving instructor. read more

Excellent instructor! I cannot recommend more. He is professional. During my first class, he explains all the intersection rules so clearly and he also makes sure that I know how to handle the real situations when I face it. He makes it really clear what to do during different traffic situations. This is actually the main reason I am no longer hesitant when I drive on the road because I know I can handle it. He is patient and calm and he is always on time for his class and he won't pick up his cell phones during the class, he is 100% focusing on your driving. When I has difficulty with certain road section, he will first explain to me with drawing what I should do to improve and let me repeat driving on that part. He makes good use of my time, if I manage to drive certain places with no mistakes, he will not waste my time. He will take me to experience different road sections to face new challenges. What distinguishes an excellent instructor from a mediocre one is that the former will cater to your learning style. He finds out my problems immediately and he provides solutions to them. I am a nervous driver and drives slow so he asks me to drive on highway. After that, speed is never a problem. I am immediately comfortable with speed. He makes driving no longer stressing for me anymore. I have a stressful time schedule and he arranges around me timetable. He let me know how many lessons I need before passing my test. So I know what I am expecting to learn during each lesson. I just passed today with only 2 lessons. Great thanks to William! He is awesome! read more

I read the ratings prior to choosing this instructor. My daughter came from out of California from College. This instructor was told that my daughter had minimal training and would also need lessons prior to the driving test. William initially agreed to provide lessons for my daughter. He stated all she needed was 2 lessons and then the test. This instructor was extremely impatient, spoke very quickly, difficulty to understand, and my daughter was very overwhelmed after each 2 hour lesson. Suffice it to say, he continued to make her believe she was "a fast learner", "capable of passing the test", however the day before the exam he said he was "frustrated" and didn't want to take her to the lesson any longer, as we had questions about the driving process. This instructor continuously focused on getting paid, and making money. He asked my daughter repetitively during the lessons "tell your mother to have the check ready". He was unprofessional, rude, impatient, and I would think twice about choosing this instructor. You have been warned. Be careful Dr. Cuba read more

JUST AWESOME! Why? 1. Professional: I wished I have found William when my first kid was learning to drive. That's how I know William is a GREAT instructor. He is patient, calm, actually teaches road safety, driving techniques and point out some common traffic mistakes new drivers often do. William is sensitive to our COVID comfort and take safety seriously by always wearing a mask even though CDC rules are relaxing due to high vaccination rate. I appreciate that he still takes the extra measure to make his client feel comfortable. 2. Timely: William was always on time starting and ending the lesson. He is a busy teacher, yet he was always courteous and took the time to return my call/text and answer any questions I had after he finished his lessons. 3. Honest: William was honest by explaining to me the different rates his company charges based on location (that wasn't the case for my first kid who used a different instructor). By our third 2 hour lesson, William was able to give us an assessment on whether my kid will be ready to go take the driving test or need more lesson. In summary: my second kid passed the behind the wheel test on the first try and we are VERY happy with William. I wished I had found him for my first kid who had to take the test multiple times-due to an instructor who didn't prepare and communicate important information to us and just can't teach. That just goes to show the quality of instructions and an experienced instructor are very important. read more
