I had hired Mr. Proetta back in July of 2015 to do an expungement to clear my record of a minor infraction. I needed this issue taken care of asap because I was looking for work and a background check would've shown my case. I was told by Proetta that my case was simple and should be no issue in clearing up. He charged me $1000 for his services which he told me was discounted. That was basically the last time I spoke to him, from that point I was dealing with his secretary. In November I started getting frustrated because my calls and emails were not getting returned. On 12/31/2015 (that's right, New Years Eve) I finally got a reply with what looked like an order to expunge my record, only issue was that the document was dated November 17th, 2015. At that point I was just happy to be able to go on job interviews and start the New Year off right. I asked Proetta's office if I'm clear to go on interviews at which point they said for me to wait on confirmation from the state police and not to go on interviews until that comes back cleared from the state police.
I again started calling and sending emails to check on the status of my case to which no replies were sent. I spoke to his assistant in January, February, March and April, every time she insisted that they had contacted the state multiple times and the state told them that its still in process...When I spoke to her on April 25, 2016 she again told me that its still in process and she knew that because she had just spoken to the state. The next day the 26th I was finally sent the order I was waiting for....and guess what, the order was dated February 17, 2016...are you fn kidding me? Proettas office had my paperwork for over 2 months and gave me the round around basically lying to me. I immediately contacted them as to why this happened to which they replied that it was sent to a different office?! I was livid and demanded that Proetta call me back himself. When he called me, lets just say he was less than sympathetic to my complaint fully knowing that I desperately needed a job to support my family. He then said "If it wasn't for me you would still have this on your record", to which I informed him that 1. I had paid for his "services" and 2. he isn't the only lawyer that is able to do this type of work. He had no reply to that. I asked for a refund and he laughed at me.
Don't bother with this Ahole, there are plenty of good attorneys that charge much less for timely representation. read more
