I was so impressed by the Pastor Josh, his wife Lisa and church that I became a member. The volunteers are always helpful and smiling! I was born and raised Catholic and always had questions no one could really answer... so I always felt lost. When I found Lakeland Community Church, I felt like I was "home"! I get so much out of the weekly sermons. I frequently feel like the message was "directed and meant just for me and where I'm at in my life." I look so forward to every Sunday message. I must not be alone, since the church has grown and they are constantly expanding. There are small groups you can join that will help strengthen your journey in life and your relationship with Jesus. Recently, they opened up a Lakeland play land/park which is 5000 ft.² for children to play, all free and open to the community. During spring break, the Playland was so busy with children and their families that it hit capacity several times. So I would say that Lakeland's Playland is a huge hit with the church and the local communities!! My Grandson (7y) has given it a huge "thumb up"!! Went to a beautiful Christmas Day service here when we visited my inlaws this weekend. The entire…read morecongregation, the pastor, and the entire staff were so welcoming. I think we literally shook hands and met every single person at the service. Such a warm and welcoming community, we will definitely come back for a service next time we are in Illinois. The church itself looks like something out of a postcard, absolutely beautiful stain glass all over and gorgeous Art Deco lighting through out.

I am extremely glad I didn't bring a non believer with us. Instead of hearing a Gospel presentation or a good Bible study they would have heard a message on making the world better at work or wherever. So they would have left thinking if they did what the sermon was about they would be ok with God on judgement day. City church is a come as you are church, there is no pressure to be anything more than you are. Greeted at the doors by friendly people who can answer questions and help, as well as coffee and the occasional snack bar set up before church. There are three Sunday services 8:30 am, 11:00, and 6:00 PM all have there own special flare! If you wanted to check the church out before walking in, feel free to Google City Church for the live Sunday morning sermon. Pastor Tom is amazing, as are so many of our pastoral staff! Terrible treatment of neighbors. They plow at 3am disturbing entire area, plus multiple times for…read morejust a lousy 1" of snow. And NO one is there to use the parking lot at all. I got ZERO sleep and feel horrible, it will make me sick. Instead of doing it all at once and get done they come back multiple times and disturb people sleep repeatedly. It's just cruel and insane.
