One of the longstanding traditions in Thousand Oaks is the Conejo Valley Days Annual Festival (which is on their 61st). This festival features a carnival as well as a Country Western Night, Classic Rock an Roll Night, and a Chili Cook Off! Another event that is held here is the Oakheart Country Music Festival, which has been gaining momentum in recent years! There is a model airplane group that uses the field to fly their aircrafts which is cool to watch. When my youngest was a toddler, they took great care of her in the Kid Zone while I worked out. She's a big girl now, but she still enjoys many of the extracurricular activities offered here, including swimming, drawing, gymnastics, and last but not least, table tennis. The facility is clean, spacious, and has plenty of equipment. It's also in a prime location that's easy to access. If you use the equipment on the second floor, you get beautiful mountain scenery, especially in spring when everything is green and colorful. The facility has gone through a few upgrades over the years and is currently going through another major one. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished result which will make an already nice place even better to work out in. Personally, I really enjoy the variety of fitness classes they offer, including Spin, Power Sculpt, HIIT, Zumba, High Fitness Dance, and my newest "let's try this" class, Cardio Kick. There are plenty of options depending on your fitness goals, schedule, and personal preference. The classes are great for building mobility and physical and mental strength while also developing useful fitness skills. There are several instructors, each with their own style and focus, and classes are offered at different times of the day. The members also range from different age groups, but there's a shared positive attitude: we're all here to work out, stay healthy, and hopefully survive the class. I always feel like the other members in my classes lift me up with their energy and strength, which makes working out that much more enjoyable. The YMCA is known for being a place for family and community, and this one is no exception. After being members for so many years, I can say it's not only a great place for families, but also a pretty good choice for individual fitness, especially if you like having plenty of options to keep your workouts from getting boring.

There's a lot of space for them to ride their scooters; the playground itself is big and beautiful with multiple slides and great flower theming. The best part, though, is the ant hill that they build into the park. My kids love it because it is a literal hill that you use cardboard boxes to slide down. This was the highlight for them, and they spent most of their time just sliding down and having a blast with cardboard boxes. I live in North Hollywood, so this was a drive, but it was worth it so that my kids could have a blast, which they did. This park is at the top of our list!

Is also bridal trail that you can use as a walking trail. I actually hope they install a basketball court where the flat grassy area is because it's never used.

The Conejo Creek Park area contains an equestrian park, a dog park, a community garden and also Waverly Park. Now I am not certain how a local with more knowledge of the streets would find the proper parking lot for this park, but we drove to the dog park (because it was the paved entrance we found off of E. Avenida De Las Flores and walked West through the dirt lot of the community garden and through the fence to Waverly Park. In hindsight, you could park in community garden lot and walk through the fence there and same yourself a few minutes of walking. This park is small and partially on a hill overlooking a baseball field, but is charming, quaint and so welcoming. At 5:15pm when we arrived, there was nobody there and that was surprising to me because it is a lovely park and the weather was nice. This park is either relatively new or recently renovated, because it has exercise equipment that looks barely used, swings that look barely used and many sturdy park benches throughout. There is a paved path that would take you around the entire little park if grass is not your thing to walk on or are pushing a stroller. It has a public restroom, play equipment, dog relief station and trash cans. We sat on the hill and watched the baseball game occurring in the distance. The mountains and hills in the distance are a beautiful backdrop to see. It was a lovely time in the charming park.
