While I hope you do not have to deal with such a sad event in the near future, I can assure you that if it happens, Westford should be your first call. Here are just a few reasons why I recommend them so much: * They are kind, professional, and appreciate what you are going through. They see us at our most vulnerable. They get that. Yes, they are a business, one that has been in Bellingham for many generations. They are an important part of this community because of how they conduct their business, how cool is that? * Hard-sell tactics? Nope! We have all heard of that kind of nonsense from other funeral homes throughout the Pacific Northwest. You won't find it here. * Let's be honest, family can be...a lot...right? Stress, loss...they can make family dynamics difficult. Westford handled our issues, again, with respect, kindness, professionalism, and especially decorum. That's impressive. Oh, did I mention that my father-in-law passed away over 20 years ago? When he realized he was terminal, he decided to plan ahead, one of the many things I loved about him. Not only did he pay for his burial, but he also purchased his wife's (my mother-in-law's) burial in advance. For those of us who have noticed the cost difference between, say, 2000 and now, you know prices have gone up. Westford absolutely honored their agreement completely! They showed us the original invoice before we even thought to ask. Here is another perfect example of why I am writing this: her name is April. She walked all of us through everything. No pressure to "upsell". No treating us like we weren't important because we had already paid for everything decades ago. We were absolutely her priority. Wow. That is what you will experience at Westford's. She is such a blessing. And... I called Westford's today to ask to speak with Rob Westford, the owner. Honestly, I didn't even say it was a positive call, yet I was given his contact information without hesitation. I did contact him to ask him to call me at his convenience. He did! After speaking with him, it only reinforced why Westford Funeral Home continues to be the quiet leader in this area. As a dear friend of mine often says, "Management puts their own footprint on a business". Rob Westford is the epitome of that statement. He truly appreciates his responsibilities as a funeral director, the place his business has in Whatcom County, and the work of his incredible employees. That, in itself, is also a blessing. There is a creek, many trees, Mountain View's and cherry trees too. I would call it a medium sized cemetery..prices were very reasonable. We met with Dave who is the sexton there. We did not have an appointment, just showed up. He took us inside and gave us a price list and we eagerly proceeded with the process of making plans for our future resting place. We had been meaning to do this.. and had managed to avoid doing it for so many years and today, when we did it? So surprisingly simple. While the staff are easy to work with, they did a significant amount of damage to the sheet rock ceilings, painted walls, a paneled wall and outside house paint. When I contacted CAZ about the damage, I was told " The damage done by the tape used for containment is unavoidable. We clearly state in the estimate that damage will occur and the client is responsible for that damage. While unfortunate, the damage is not out of the ordinary for a popcorn project. By signing the contract you recognized this aspect of the project and CAZ is not responsible for repair." Unless you intend to paint all walls, texture the ceiling, remove existing panel walls and repaint outside your entrances, think carefully about having this work performed by CAZ Environmental.
