Located about 1:30 hours from Amsterdam, Wildeboer in Giethoorn of the Netherlands is a small but fun and exciting village that features boat rentals that you can cruise through the lake view, beautiful village style homes, and even stop at local businesses to buy snacks and souvenirs. We rented 2 small self operated boats that were electrically powered so everything was very calm and quiet. We cruised through a large view of the lake along with some crops and flowers which was very beautiful. The route for the boats then took us towards a village not far from the original boat rental place, the small homes, little bridges, and gardens make everything look like a romance scene off of a movie. If you have the chance to visit the Netherlands and have time, I recommend driving out to this location and going on the boat to experience the amazing views! read more

This is the best place to rent a boat in Giethoorn. They have beautiful traditional oak boats, and they were by far the nicest we saw out on the water. We rented a boat for the afternoon and they provided us with seat cushions and blankets and we had them prepare us a beautiful picnic basket with tea to take on board. The food in the picnic basket was prepared by the nearby Lindenhof restaurant, but there is also a cheaper option to have it prepared directly by the the coffee/tea house onsite. You can rent the boats hourly for 25 per hour. They also provided us with a map and some marked routes so we wouldn't get lost. The coffee/tea house is wonderful. They have the friendliest service and delicious desserts and teas. There is even some gifts for sale. We bought a beautiful ornament for our garden at a very good price. Overall we were very impressed by WildeBoer, and I would not hesitate to return or recommend them to friends. We had a wonderful day boating around the picturesque village of Giethoorn and surrounding areas. I can't wait to go back! read more

A friend and I were visiting Amsterdam and decided to visit Geithoorn since it is considered the "Venice of the Netherlands". We booked a boat and lunch with Wildeboer so we could explore the canals on our own. Yvonne who is the owner to what I believe is a family operated business, was very professional and accommodating during the booking process. My only suggestion would be to offer a more efficient payment process maybe accept payments online so customer can avoid bank fees. We arrived in Geithoorn a lot earlier than we were supposed to. Yvonne and her son was open to letting us go on the boat early and made effort to get our lunch prepared quickly. In the interim, we sat on the restaurant terrace for some tea and cake. I liked how they had the hour glass with tea steeping times. The experience was peaceful and lovely. My friend and I had a hard time learning to steer the motor of the boat. It was actually pretty comical! lol. Eventually we got it...then didn't get it...then got it again. But it was a good laugh the whole way through. They give you a map of the canals but somehow, we still got lost. We didn't mind because the canal city was beautiful. We just took our time to enjoy the outdoors. It was a little chilly when we went out so I was glad that they equipped up us with blankets. The lunch were small sandwiches, fruit salad, assorted cookies, and champaign. All of this was delicious. However, I was hoping the sandwiches would be bigger as the lunch was pretty pricey for what was given. It was delicious nonetheless. Since we had the steer the boat it was difficult to eat and steer so we had to take turns. At one point we ended up off the canal line and into a bigger wider canal - like us ladies do - we completely freaked out! But we found our way back to the canal lines and had a good laugh. We then popped open the champaign and headed back to the restaurant. All and all...it was a lovely day...lovely experience...and a good laugh. read more
