Our guide Matt, dabbing with our crew, Camp Fundola!
Maggi W.

We purchased a summer package deal that included a gondola ride and the White Water Exciter rafting trip! This also included a $25 gift card to any restaurant at the Lake Louise Lounge! Our group celebrated a birthday party and they also give a bday discount for the birthday person! So make sure to ask for that! Our tour guide was Matt, who was such a good support because our group was wild as can be! Matt was informative & really fun, while also being safe so we all didn't flip over a raft! We enjoyed every moment & luckily experienced some Class 4 rapids! The rafting experience lasted about an hour & a half. The water was cold, but so worth the experience. They provide wet suits, shoes, & helmets. You only need a towel & a swimsuit to participate! They even have rentals for GoPro helmets ($7.95 per helmet). The wetsuits, fleece, jackets & gloves saved our lives! The cold water was doable with their gear! After, they took us back. We dressed into dry clothes & they had mocha, hot chocolate & cookies waiting for us! The crew there is very funny & all extremely kind! We loved it! Shout out to the best tour guide Matt, who remembered all our names and even dabbed with us for a photo!!

Overall Kicking Horse River is a great White Water Rafting Trip. I've been with another company…read morebefore I discovered Alpine and then with Alpine a few times. Both outfits did a good job but I prefer Alpine. I've also rafter some other rivers on my travels but Kicking Horse is still my favorite (so far). I've been trying to get into the lower canyon for several years but I generally end up in Golden too early in the season and the water levels are too high to make it safe. This trip the lower canyon was open - and it was worth waiting for but the intensity is at a level the first parts do not prepare yourself for. The upper canyon is for absolutely everyone. The middle canyon is probably something most people can handle but the lower canyon is pretty much full on and I wouldn't even suggest all my friends go for it.. The paddling demands are high and when things go wrong there are smaller margins of error if you don't follow what they tell you. I no longer raft the upper canyon because it's a bit tame for me and this time did the ultimate (middle and lower). I would do the upper in the right group I guess or with the right discount. Alpine offers free camping which I've used once. It's got almost nothing on it (some outhouses) but it's well into the bush and pretty rustic. It's also free so it's hard to complain. I'm not the biggest camper though so we got a room this year. Golden is also doable in a one day trip from Calgary (I've done that before too but it's rough on the driver because everyone is generally sacked out in the back on the way home and they probably wish they were too. Overall, it's worth a go. Alpine is very professional. Their gear was extra smelly this round but it's usually in good repair. The guides all seem organized and experienced and things flow pretty smoothly from start to end. I believe you're in good hands and there is something for pretty much everyone on the Kicking Horse River.

Canadian Off Road Adventures - Beautiful views on our ATV tour with Canadian Off-Road Adventures in Golden, British Columbia (June 2022)

Literally no other place I would rather write about for my 100th review of 2022!!! I am so, so…read morefortunate my friend took me to Canadian Off-Road Adventures located in Golden, British Columbia back in June of 2022 for an epic day of riding around on All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). My friend booked a three hour tour with the owner, Che, and we were super excited to have him and Ayden as our guides for the afternoon. In fact, we were actually the only ATV on the tour on this particular rainy day but we did not mind ONE bit!!! My friend and I ended up sharing an ATV due to the rather steep increase in price to have two drivers (drivers are $229 while passengers are $99). While we had planned to take turns driving, my friend was so, so, so kind to let me drive the whole day because I was having the best day EVER!!! Che and Ayden drove us in the company van to the starting point after we were outfitted with our safety gear (helmets, gloves, and handkerchiefs). We practiced driving around a dirt lot for a little while so Che could ensure we were being safe and knew how to operate the ATV. Once we were given the all-clear, it was time to adventure. Seriously, the views were absolutely stunning from mountain views to rivers, streams, and waterfalls! When we got to the top of the vista, the light rain had actually turned into snow and I genuinely felt like we were in a snow globe. It was such an amazing experience from start to finish. We even saw a black bear on our way back. I had never had so much fun on an ATV before but this tour actually led me to book another ATV tour in Big Bend National Park earlier this fall. Che was hands down the best and while our trip to Banff and Jasper was a highlight reel, this ATV tour was my favorite part of the trip. I cannot recommend Canadian Off-Road Adventures enough - it is worth every minute and every penny!!!

The equipment including the raincoats, water shoes, helmets, paddle, raft, lunch, and snack. The guide is included if you wonder:) The river they take is class 1 or 2 and it more to the scenic rafting with a bit of wave. During our visit, the snow run off make the water brown instead of clear. But it has a lot of water which is good and fast. The reason I said this is a scenic tour because it has beautiful mountains view on both side. The breathtaking is when they dock to the bottom of the waterfalls. The raft got splash by the mists of the falls and it is indescribable experience. Along the way you will get wet due to high current. We also see bird nesting on the rock. And the rock is like glitter reflect the sunlight in silver color. I would recommend this rafting tour to family. The only downside is the bathroom outhouse not to civil standard. But you are at the jungle and mountain. Go to nature for your business. Love this tour. I would take the whole day tour and enjoy the nature with fun along the way.

It was so cold my 17yr old niece was crying by the end of the trip. I must say, it might be the coldest have ever been. Rain, wind, cold cold cold freshly melted glacier water spraying all over the boat... and what an awesome experience it turned out to be. It could have gone horribly wrong however... it was really the staff that saved the day. We went out in two boats with four guides. A team of really friendly and funny Aussies in one boat and in our boat some local Canadian fellows. "Ian and Chris" (sorry if I got their names wrong) were out trip leaders and they were great. They knew their stuff too. Pointing out history of the area, geological information and all the while navigating a boat through very difficult weather. At no point did I feel unsafe or worry about the safety of my family on the boat. Had the weather been a bit warmer it would have been nice; but all in all it was a trip that will never be forgotten. Sadly because of the weather we saw more wildlife from the bus to/from the River Runners office (Black Bear, Grizz, Moose, Deer, Bald Eagle) but that's not their fault. I would use them again and suggest them to anyone looking to run the Kootenay River! No doubt. Sadly one of our party could not make the trip as they were injured the day prior. Without even asking they offered to refunded his trip the morning of the trip. This was truly appreciated and very unique. These guys are a first class operation and your search for a River Guide should stop with KRR!

The float was about 2.5 hours. The area was extremely full of water the day we went on our float. We had to walk a bit to the boat. I booked this tour as it said how easy the boat was for elderly and accessibility challenged. The boat is as described. However, you should be aware to get to the boat could be a challenge for those with accessibility issues. Like I stated before we were the only ones on our tour so Kevin was patient with us while we tried to get my father to the boat on the floating board walk. If you have balance issues getting to the boat could be a challenge. You park and then have to go over rail road tracks to get to the boat. For most, a non issue but if you have mobility issues you should be aware. It is a beautiful area and even though we only saw a bald eagle and nothing more really we enjoyed our time on the boat and speaking with Kevin. It is a peaceful experience. I like the fact that it is a local family owned business. We got to meet the owner, David, briefly and his mother was the one checking us in. They provide water and cookies on the float. They also provide binoculars if you don't bring your own. They also appear to be doing a new brand. When I booked the tour it was a frog brand and now it is a ducks flying. Bring sunscreen and know it does get really warm. Overall a nice experience. If back in the area my husband and I would love to do a paddle. Don't forget to stop for a photo with a very large paddle. I recommend if in the Golden area.
