This was my first time white water rafting and honestly it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. We booked the exciter rafting tour during our visit to Banff and it was a highlight of the whole trip! Our guide Tye was incredible and made the whole ride down the river a blast. If we weren't leaving Banff we would have booked another trip down the river with Wild Water Adventures. Everything was well organized from start to finish. Wonderful experience! We had so much fun on the river. We are a family of four with kids of 8 and 10-year old. The gentle tour was perfect! Our guide (Gavin) was amazing. It wasn't scary for the kids at all. Gav explained everything to the kids and asked how they were feeling all trip long. They were smiling from the beginning to the end and wanted to get more splashes! With all the gear provided, we were not cold. And it was a nice touch to end with hot chocolat and coffee. We also took the photo package - I highly recommend doing so - our photographer took amazing pictures and they are all included in the photo package (sometimes you need to pay individually for each picture you want). We purchased a summer package deal that included a gondola ride and the White Water Exciter rafting trip! This also included a $25 gift card to any restaurant at the Lake Louise Lounge! Our group celebrated a birthday party and they also give a bday discount for the birthday person! So make sure to ask for that! Our tour guide was Matt, who was such a good support because our group was wild as can be! Matt was informative & really fun, while also being safe so we all didn't flip over a raft! We enjoyed every moment & luckily experienced some Class 4 rapids! The rafting experience lasted about an hour & a half. The water was cold, but so worth the experience. They provide wet suits, shoes, & helmets. You only need a towel & a swimsuit to participate! They even have rentals for GoPro helmets ($7.95 per helmet). The wetsuits, fleece, jackets & gloves saved our lives! The cold water was doable with their gear! After, they took us back. We dressed into dry clothes & they had mocha, hot chocolate & cookies waiting for us! The crew there is very funny & all extremely kind! We loved it! The communication from the team was always clear and welcoming. I had all the information I needed even before I went for the tour with my group of 6 people. On reaching there, we were signed in. We rented a helmet with action camera binding, which was $7.5. The team was very enthusiastic, funny and helpful. They had their processes really well-defined, from getting all gear, to changing to getting on board the bus. Dani was our tour guide and we had a great time with him. He was very clear in his instructions and also helped us have the most fun while on the tour! I have been rafting before in Pennsylvania, but it was not as much fun as this tour, specially with a guide who comes on board with us and helps us navigate. The winding down process was also very well defined with clear instructions, leading no absolutely no chaos, even with larger groups of people. We were served cookies, hot chocolate, tea coffee and fruits, which was amazing after a rafting trip. The pictures package is $29 for a CD that holds all pictures taken during the trip. I was actually surprised to see such a low price for pictures, that we actually bought it for our group. I came with three other friends so we took up half a raft. We had Danny as our instructor and he was great, being careful to explain the instructions and ensuring our safety. During our trip someone fell out of the other raft in the most turbulent area but Danny was quick to respond and hauled him out of there. The other instructors were great as well. We went for the Water Exciter and the waves were great because it had rained the day before. The beginning was nice and slow to get accustomed but once we got past that, it was lost of waves and it was really refreshing because of how hot it was. The wife and I spent two days in the Lake Louise/Banff area and decided to do some white water rafting. We were excited, but nervous knowing how cold that water was going to be. Lucky for us these guys do a great job start to finish making sure you're comfortable. You WILL get soaked in the 40 degree glacier water, no doubt about it. The staff however has a good system of wet suits, fleeces, and a rain jacket that keep you warm, even when wet. Our guide was Dani who was awesome. He kept things fun and lively, and made sure everyone knew what they were doing the whole time. We even jumped in the river for a swim at the end (you only live once so why not?) Just last week I was lucky enough to get to do an amazing white water rafting trip with this company! I was part of a group of women on an adventure trip in Canada and white water rafting was one of our scheduled activities. I was so excited to go!!!! It had been a long time since I had the opportunity to white water raft and the day was perfect... perfect weather, great guide, wonderful experience! Our group was large enough that we split into two rafts and I was lucky enough to get Bruce as our guide. We had SO much fun. All the staff on the front end were great and explained the process of getting suited up, what to do and what to expect. Once everyone was ready and at the rafts there was a very detailed and inclusive safety presentation. Once everyone got in their assigned boats then there was another set of instructions and demonstrations of what to do when certain commands were given by the guide. I felt well prepared for the journey! Being a tad more adventurous than some, I chose to sit in the front the entire trip. Half as a paddler and the other half just hanging on. You will be allowed to swap positions at the halfway point if you choose too.I got soaked. It was awesome. We were allowed to jump in at two set spots if you wanted (I jumped in!) and while the water was cold,,,,, it felt great! I did many activities during my week in the Canadian Rockies and the white water rafting was one of my favorites. Sitting in the very front, holding on, while going through all the rapids (Roller Coaster was FUN) was something I won't forget! And after the rafting, you get back to hot chocolate and cookies! Yum! Had an absolute blast on our rafting day with Dani and Juan. We hooted and hollered as we reacted to our commands on the raft. Felt really safe - company has been around over 25 years. Our guide Dani gave us a really fun adventure and was super funny. Dani got to know all of our names and checked to make sure we were okay throughout the day. I think Dani and Juan helped to make the day the adventure it was - and it is a memory of a life time. Let the guides know what you are looking for - for more excitement or for a more relaxed trip. This is a first-class operation - very friendly and knowledgeable staff & guides who run the show with maximum safety and efficiency. My husband and I did the half-day "Whitewater Exciter" afternoon tour today, and it was great because the water level was so high after raining for a few days. We experienced some fantastic Class IV rapids, and all of us were soaking wet with brisk glacial water by the end. I was very impressed with the thorough orientation to the gear and multiple safety briefings, instructions and practice drills. There was even one portion of the river where we got out of the raft so that we could look at the Class IV rapid we were about to navigate, and a second safety check of our gear was performed. After we finished our tour, we were shuttled back to the River Base and given hot beverages and snacks. It is clear that these folks know what they're doing in the adventure recreation business. If you are adventurous and ever find yourself in the Banff / Lake Louise area of Alberta in the summer, you MUST go whitewater rafting with these guys! read more

We selected "The Traditional" trip for me and my brother (both in our 20's) and my father (in his 50's). My brother and I had both been rafting before and my father was completely new to it. I admit that I was a little nervous - don't be! They take amazing care of you here. Show up early to get some juice and water because it's going to be a long day. The company provides these, so don't worry about bringing your own. From there, you'll meet some of the guides and hang out a little. It really helps to build the team mentality. After we hung out a bit, Carlos, one of the guides (he's definitely mentioned on here, and he's great), explained everything we would be given that day. Wild Water Adventures provides everything - you just need a bathing suit, a towel, and a change of clothing (which you'll keep in the locker room). The river is cold so you will be given a lot of gear and the guides are great at quickly sizing you up and getting you all set. Wet suites, water shoes, fleeces, waterproof jackets, life vests, helmets, and gloves were all given out to us. From there, you climb on the bus for the short trip to the river. You'll be given a short) safety talk and some more water once you get to the river and then you'll be paired with a guide. Our guide was Bruce. All I can say is that Bruce was awesome. As in I just wanted to be this man's friend. He took AMAZING care of everyone on the raft. He knew all of our names, he knew what everyone liked pretty quickly (I liked getting splashed with the super cold water, because I'm nutty like that, so he made that happen), he made everyone feel comfortable, and he told us all about the area we were rafting through. You start off pretty slow, cover positions, get to know your rafting buddies, and ease into things. You won't hit any crazy rapids right away and there will be stops for water, bathroom, or even if you want to back out and ride back to base camp. Again, this company takes great care of you. It's a long day, but you learn to work as a team and the guides really do make this experience special. Everyone, from younger kids to older adults seemed to have a lot of fun. When we were done, we went back to base camp to dry off, got changed, and had a lunch that was made for us. You will get wet, you will get cold, you will work kind of hard on some of the rapids, but just about anyone could go on this trip. I'll be back for sure. Thanks, Wild Water Adventures! If I could give these guys more than 5 stars, I would. From the moment we arrived at their base camp, it was a top notch experience. They have the entire operation down to a science. We spend very little time just sitting around waiting, and when it came time to get our group of 14 all geared up, it was efficient, friendly and most importantly plentiful. The outfit you with so much gear to keep warm, it made the Kicking Horse River just a notch below warm. So much so, my entire raft of 7 women got in the water (voluntarily) and swam around twice. My raft was guided by Javi, who was so amazing. Overall, an unforgettable trip I highly recommend! read more

I was a total newb and I was basically peeing my pants I was so nervous. The crew at Wild Water Adventures was the best! They cared about each of their customers and their process was flawless. I mean this was Lean Six Sigma type stuff. They covered everything in detail and made sure everyone felt prepared for the trip. They were great coaches through each rapid and hype men throughout the entire journey. I don't know how they keep their energy so high even on rainy days. Our guide, Matt, did a moose call for us which didn't bring any moose into sight but his random river facts made up for it. The Kicking Horse River was stellar. Scary in all the right ways. Freezing cold but completely doable. I would absolutely recommend this experience and team to anyone!! Make sure to experience the front and back of the raft. We booked the half day trip trough the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. I've been white water rafting before so I had some expectations, but they were blown out of the water (literally) by this establishment. It was a great ride! Full of rapids. The guides all seemed incredibly friendly and intent on making sure you have a good time. Andrew tells the best jokes! The place gives you all the necessary gear and makes sure everything works for you. They even provide refreshments (cookies! Watermelon!) for when your ride is over. We decided to treat ourselves and use their shuttle transportation and then go on the Exciter trip. This made the whole experience easy, relaxing, and fun. The shuttle guide was on time, knowledgeable and entertaining. We learned a lot about the region on the picturesque ride. I felt it added to our enjoyment and experience. I wish I could recall his name....Dan? Our Columbian rafting guide, Juan, was competent, funny and playful. We felt completely safe on our raft. He was very encouraging of our daughter who was a little apprehensive. If Juan tells you to get low in the raft and smile, it means you are about to get hit in the face with a wave! LOL! Now you know! I thought the Exciter was plenty long and exhilarating. If you choose the longer trip, you add length at the front end of your ride which is mostly calm water. Either way, you can't lose. Do grab and bring a towel for drying off after the trip. Otherwise you are pulling on your dry clothes over your damp body. Not so fun. I learned not to try to predict the weather. For a full week and up to the day of our trip, the forecast predicted thundershowers. At the time of our trip, skies were blue and clear the entire time! The experience was just terrific! I highly recommend this outfit for professionalism and a great time! read more

I completed the Exciter trip with some friends! I was definitely nervous in the beginning but our lovely instructor Dani checked in with us throughout the entire ride. During a break to check the rapids, we were given the option to forego a particularly turbulent rapid and head back. He was engaging and fun but also continuously focused on the waters and providing safety instructions. Overall, it was an organized experience and the staff were friendly and kind! Honestly, I picked this outfit from my computer in Minnesota because their website was the coolest (way to go, web developers!), but I couldn't have been happier with the actual experience. The entire crew was fun without being alienating in any way to out-of-town tourists, and the trip was organized and well-planned. Bruce gave us stories of the river during slow times, led us in "warming up" exercises when we got cold (this is glacier mountain water, after all), yelled orders during the fast rapids to keep the raft going in the right directions, pushed the raft through the thrilling parts rather than the safe and boring parts, made sure the folks in the back also got smashed by the river from time to time, and had us laughing the entire trip. Coming from a moderately out-of-shape office worker in his mid forties (me), this is something you probably can handle too and will be glad you did for the rest of your life. First timers doing the exciter tour and it was exciting and wet but also perfect for being new to rafting. All of the staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgable! The ride itself on the water was about 1.5 hours- youre given a wet suit/shoes to use. It wouldnt hurt to bring a swimsuit/towel (if you dont have a swimsuit you just wear your undergarments under the wetsuit.) we had marcie as our guide and she was PHENOMENAL. 10/10 experience! read more

My wife and I and our 8-year old daughter did the "Gentle" trip with and had a ball. The float was great, beautiful scenery and just scary enough for my girls to have a great day. I'm sure the guides are really nice and the rides great, the water was moving quickly and it looked like it would be a fun experience for our 1 1/2 hour Whitewater Exciter trip. But as we drove to the meeting place, a storm hit...water just pouring from the sky. There was lightning and thunder...we saw lightning right up until the time we hit the exit. Weather forecast was for more of the same for the rest of the afternoon. I was very surprised when they told me the trip was on and that if we didn't go, we'd be charged the full amount anyway. I've got no problem going out in the rain, but I've done a lot of whitewater rafting and it's a well known fact that you don't want to be on the river when a thunderstorm is going on (try googling lightning and rafting). We passed. Yes, they warn you that there are no refunds within 48 hours of the trip ....but that's buried in the Terms and Conditions on a link when you sign up, and there is no mention of what happens in weather. Sorry WWA, you should never be in a position of losing your money or going out on the river in a thunderstorm. read more
