The exhibits were by geographical areas and they tried to include some of the more interesting species. They used a scary pirate theme and had some exhibits for the kids. Then you come to a tunnel with the fish above you. What a sight - definitely the highlight of the trip. The end exhibit was the penguin enclosure and I think for most of the kids was the highlight. This exhibit area was crowded as all the kids were having fun watching these very adorable animals. We breezed through this aquarium within an hour, would be a bit longer with kids.

Also, it was right on Lake Constance so we made a whole day of it. Our plan was to eat lunch on the lake the spend a couple hours here. Seems easy enough! First, it took an hour and a half to find a parking space. Sealife has its own pay to park lot but it was completely full. I'd guesstimate 50 spaces. It's not regulated so anyone can park there. The mall has a garage across the street but that was full too. We drove and drove and circled and circled. We ended up parking about 1km away in the city center. Since it took so long to find parking, we were too hungry to find a place and we ended up eating at the Sealife Cafe. Nothing special but not horrible. It's located downstairs around back or if you go through first, it's at the end after the gift shop. After eating, we went through. Wow...really? That's it?! It took us longer to eat our fast food lunch than walk through. We had three kids who wanted to touch and look at everything and it still didn't take very long. It's not stroller friendly, not that they allow strollers inside anyway. There is stroller parking right outside the door. We had a backpack carrier for our 14 month old. He wasn't in it for long so he was fine. There was a short film that was interesting to watch. It was in German so the kids lost interest. The tank labels were in German and in English. The gift shop was pricey as with any attraction gift shop. Many people spoke English which was such a bonus. Of course we had to get a few items we will never use again because that's what you do on vacation! We went to Legoland the next day which has a Sealife exhibit. It's included in the price of admission and pretty much the same as this one. Go there instead. Bottom line: go to Konstanz to see Konstanz in all its beauty. Save your money and see Sealife another time.

The Zoo stretches over a fairly large park with smaller focused areas with animal specific regions. Signage is pretty good plus they give you a map. There is a very impressive atrium, Masoala Rainforest, with lush tropical vegetation, animals and a waterfall. There is also a canopy top observation point accessible via a circular staircase. They have zebras, giraffes, elephants (to name a few) in large indoor and outdoor spaces. There is an aquarium area, with penguins, plus petting areas with goats and kid friendly zones. There is also a little train that you can ride around to see some of the exhibits. Definitely worth the trip, allow 3-4 hours minimum if you want to see most of the exhibits.

We purchased at the ticket booth but you can also save a little more by purchasing online. Prices are on par with any big city zoo I've ever been to. This zoo is large, clean and well thought out. There are childrens play areas spread throughout. The animal enclosures are, for the most part, large with spaces for the animals to get away from the crowds. There is plenty of shade throughout the zoo. We drove here and found paid street parking easily. There is public transportation nearby and also a place to park your bicycles.
