Breakfast burrito

Parking is limited but not hard to find as its right off the Main Street. Careful because cars fly by. I recommend you as you walk in and you see an available table to grab it and then order inside and bring out your number. Seating is a bit limited due to the amount of people. Staff is friendly and the cooks make really good food. My son got the breakfast burrito, my daughter got crispy chicken sandwich, I got the avocado toast with poached eggs. Everything was delicious. I tried their rainbow latte and my daughter had their ice blended frappe. Be aware that the large rainbow latte is $9.50. The decor cute but you could tell since it's outside everything's a little bit weathered and dusty overall it's a cute spot for breakfast and they have a grade A. Restrooms are conveniently outside in

This is such a charming cafe in the Glendale hills neighborhood! You definitely won't find this cafe as it is quite literally in the hills inside a neighborhood, but that's exactly why I wanted to check the place out. When I first drove past it, I immediately was surprised to see it and thought I was seeing things lol. I had to come back again to try it! The decor is SO cute - I absolutely love the flowers and vintage car-themed decor, and how charming and peaceful the patio is. I only ordered to go as I never had time to sit down, but next time I definitely will sit in to enjoy the sights and ambiance of the patio. Service was super fast on the weekdays I have went. For food and drinks I have gotten the Soft Shell Crab sandwich and the Blue Hawaiian smoothie. The sandwich is unique and tasty, I loved the coleslaw and the quality of the crab. I want to try their caffeinated drinks and other sandwiches next time! Do note that this cafe is quite pricey, but it's worth a try!

2025: I live around the corner from this wonderful place - and I wanted to love it so so much. Sadly, I was disappointed with their food multiple times before - and so we have not been in quite a while. Few weeks ago I met friends for a coffee, just had your beautiful and very tasty Rainbow Latte and saw the food coming out - and it looked delicious. I thought - wow, let's try again. Who knows, maybe there is a change in the kitchen. And really I came and want to love this place. I really did! Sadly, my next food experience was again, politely said, not so good. My wife ordered - as you can see from the attachment, an ice tea - and got a coffee. Of course, it was fixed - thank you very much. She also loved her Avocado toast. I ordered a steak sandwich - again: see attached - with hash browns, crisp please, and my steak medium rare. Knowing how hard it is to serve medium rare on a sandwich, I did not really expect you would deliver medium rare. Most can't - so I was happy to forgive the well done I got. After all, it was OK. Then, as a side: I got... chips. No hash browns. Your staff was friendly - and to rush-fix it - possibly too rushed: they served raw hash browns. I could not eat them :-( As I said, my wife was happy and I did not want to spoil her experience after having complained already twice. I am happy to see this place is busy. Knowing the significance of my ratings - almost 100,000 people read my reviews on Yelp, Google, & Co every week, I decided not to post anything yet but reach out to the owner direct and the response rather added oil to the fire than attempting to fix this rather meh experience so I eventually decided to share. Few things are good, but some should be avoided by all means. Hash browns and meat dishes (unless you like your meat killed multiple times ;-) are some them.

A perfect spot to grab brunch! The lattes here are famous for how beautifully they're served, but honestly, I think the juice is even better than the latte.

Roberto provided us with excellent customer service. He's very knowledgeable of menu options & his suggestions were spot-on. My wife & I both loved the suggestion he provided for us & having employees like him, makes this place even more appealing. Thanks again Roberto! Muchas gracias amigo‍

Berry Blue Hawaiian Smoothie Iced hazelnut latte Hot Chicken and Waffles

It was our first time at Wild Oak cafe and I cannot tell how impressed I am to find this gem near my neighborhood! My kids loved the waffles, smoothie and the hot chocolate! I loved my iced hazelnut latte! The service was great! Definitely will come back to try more from the menu

Ice Blended Frappe and a rainbow Latte
Deveny A.

The food was amazing but when I received my iced blended frappe, I personally did not like it so I reordered the rainbow little because that was DELISH! The staff was very friendly and was kind enough to exchange the drink for me. The place was cute and peaceful. A perfect little brunch spot!

Super cute and nice cafe to eat at. We went on a beautiful Saturday morning with our family and lucky enough to find a table to sit at. I would recommend grabbing a table while another person goes inside to order. Although it's a sit down place with servers to bring your food out to you, you do have to go inside to place your order. You can stop in for some muffins and coffee. They have beautiful latte art as seen in their prior Yelp pics and we got some Armenian coffee that were just perfect! We had great breakfasts all around. The breakfast burrito was amazing! The French toast was perfect and the best but not least was the Turkey Bacon Avocado sandwich. Overall, I would definitely go back again and refer my friends and family. They are a bit limited in parking, and although they have a lot of seating personally if I see there isn't room to sit I won't make a big hike to park and go wait for a long time. My personal opinion. Again, definitely recommend trying it out for yourself.

Have seen this place on Yelp, and was randomly in the area -- cute street side cafe with shaded outdoor seating. Ordered the breakfast sandwich, breakfast burrito and a latte -- food was just good. There is a small parking lot.

This place looked so cute online, and let me tell you, it's just as cute in person! It's in a converted gas station, so it has a really unique look. There are faux flowers everywhere and lots of cute little accents around. Also, points for playing Radiohead and Nirvana although I wouldn't have associated those bands with the type of ambiance this place has, haha. The rainbow latte attracted me first, so I had to order one. Def did it for the gram. The coffee was really good, actually. However, because I ordered it with oat milk, it got too frothy with big bubbles and so the rainbow didn't really look that good. Oh well! Still was worth it. For food, I ordered the avocado toast with poached eggs. It was pretty good, except you can tell they used premade guacamole. It just has a different taste. Not my favorite. I also thought it could use a little more flavor. Maybe some pickled onions or capers or something. My husband had the chicken and waffles. He thought they were just ok. They weren't uniformly cooked. One was cooked well and the other breast was a little overcooked. In terms of service, you order at the counter and they bring you your food. It probably took 15-20 minutes, so not too bad. Staff was very polite. There's also a cute little area to the side with some chairs, a fake well, and a Little Free Library. Parking is a little difficult. A few spots and the rest is residential street parking. Would definitely come back for the laid back vibes and good coffee. Curious to try a few more food options as well.

Supposedly French toast

I'm really disappointed to be writing this because I used to love Wild Oak Cafe and came here often. Unfortunately, the food quality has gone downhill, which is why I stopped coming for a while. I decided to give it another chance and brought my child here for a quick breakfast before heading to Emerald Isle Park, since it's so close. I ordered the kids French toast, and it came out dry and burnt--basically toast that had been overcooked. After we left, my child was still hungry, so I had to stop somewhere else to get her food. That was the final straw for me. I really wanted this visit to be different, but sadly it confirmed why I stopped coming in the first place. Needless to say, I won't be back.

Matcha Latte
Toni L.

My friend and I have been wanting to try this place since it's close to our office. Drive along Chevy Chase and enjoy the the sight of beautiful houses and trees enveloping the area. You won't miss the cafe since it's adorned with floral decor on the outside. Parking is limited but crowd is minimal on a weekday. The cafe closes at 3PM but the staff allowed my friend and I to stay past closing to enjoy the chirping birds and beautiful scenery. Matcha latte - I ordered it because of the beautiful latte art. You can bring a photo and have the it digitized into latte art or they'll create simple hand drawn latte art for you. Steak and cheese sandwich - I was expecting a Philly cheese steak but this had chunks of steak and a generous amount of mushrooms in it. Food was good, nothing spectacular and prices are rather steep. Come here for the ambiance and latte art.

The Black Cow Cafe has been part of my life since my college years, so when I came here now, it was always filled with nostalgia and a slowed pace over a calming meal. Opened in 1994 by a father and son, they embodied the community's "Main Street USA" vibe with a neighborhood diner where everyone knew each other, and you were served a soothing homemade meal during breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Did this cafe leave me with warm memories of the past, or did I cower from time's inevitable changes!? PURCHASE(S) Green Milan 16floz Drink ($7.95): My body needed something "green" and this sounded interesting. I thought it would be one of those health smoothies back in the 80s, but instead a frothy hazy light drink with a light grassy aroma and a middling leafy flavor. I didn't dislike it, but I wouldn't order it again. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=Uo_FrA9ezkxhIn4VnwEVtQ Vegetarian Omelette w/Country Potatoes & Sourdough Toast ($18.95): Made with avocado, cheddar cheese, mushrooms, Ortega chiles, pico de gallo, salsa ranchera, spinach, and topped with sour cream, an omelette was also on my eating bingo card. This smallish portion on the healthier side was packed with fresh goodness and fluffy eggs. The country potatoes were plentiful, nicely seasoned, but lacked the outer crisp I liked. The large sourdough toast with creamy butter and preserves rounded out the meal well. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=vDf51dNgOCoyIaPX_AOvrw Fish & Chips w/Coleslaw & Muffin ($17.95): Made with tempura fried Icelandic cod served with jalapeno tartar sauce, and Hawaiian coleslaw, the three fish pieces were crunchy, hot, and thick but needed more seasoning so the tarter sauce came in handy (no vinegar!). The coleslaw lacked much flavor and moisture, and the muffin was moist and warm. This one could've been better. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=dsLbeFauDvvnvXiA6IZhBA [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 4.0 of 5.0 STARS] Substitute Onion Rings ($3.95): I replaced the french fries with these, a good side portion with many rings of different sizes, these were hot, dark golden browned, crunchy, and had a tendency to crumble when bitten into while the onion ring (not sweet Maui) pulled out at times. Although they were somewhat oily, they were good, and dipping sauce wasn't needed. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=hBUiwmcGa-pKcL8pRPQipg German Chocolate Cake Slice ($5.95): Solid, thick, and a rich chocolatey flavor, the coconut maple frosting was outstanding! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=WracW1NRal1uz_2MeLeqlw Peach Cobbler Pie Slice ($5.95) + Vanilla Ice Cream Scoop ($1.25): A flat-looking thing with a ton of fresh peaches that bursted with cinnamon and spices, but the crust was lifeless. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=iBVwJ4BeHE_DcX1FHAP7qA SERVICE We were greeted by friendly young hosts, seated immediately, given menus, and shortly afterwards our orders were placed. Everything arrived within ten minutes, and we were checked on periodically. All was good - thank you! PARKING (Varied: FREE this instance): I found a spot in the large public lot directly above the restaurant off of Florencita Dr. Otherwise, there were metered spots along the main drag of Honolulu Ave. and all surrounding side streets- 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A packed layout filled with tables inside and along the front sidewalk, the decor was as if grandmothers united and gave it a country farm house appeal https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=HWq31BkepPCR8uWcUf4Gtw with odds-and-ends and knickknacks. A minimal amount of natural lighting came in through the front glass windows and doors while a mix of recessed and track electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs nor could I recall any background music over all of the loud conversations. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL It was nice to revisit The Black Cow Cafe, and hoped to return soon. The menu was packed, the food was good, the prices were comparable, and the service was busy but manageable. Plus, I always preferred to support small local mom & pop businesses. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $69.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

The food and service were both great. I ordered the Chicken Caesar Wrap and my husband had the LA Cheesesteak Sandwich. Both were delicious. (My husband had the steak and mushroom penne, friends had the Chimchurri steak and the wedge salad) The negatives: I had the shrimp risotto and found it blah. The serving was very small - i feel like American portions are often obscenely large (and don't like that), but this was much smaller than average and I was still hungry after eating it. The flavor was ok, but nothing to write home about. And the shrimp were very small - what my husband and I call "bait" shrimp. Not the large shrimp you usually get at a nice restaurant. Since i was still hungry, I ordered a cobbler. It was fine, but not great. Texture was a bit strange - not traditional. Probably won't come back. The food is just not that interesting. It's like the kind of food you'd eat at a Midwestern buffet restaurant.

We thought he was a new employee because he had no clue what he was doing. He had NO personality no interest in general. When he first came to our table he didn't say hello or offer us appetizers or a cocktail. He asked for our dinner order. We ordered the fajita quesadilla and a combo plate. Daniel brought me the wrong taco; the taco was mostly lettuce and cheese very little meat ~ I was surprised because when I ordered this in the past it was excellent and done right (Not his fault tho he did write down my taco order incorrectly). He never came back to our table to check on us. When we were done we asked for a box because we had a lot of food left. He looked at it and brought us a tiny box. What was he thinking?? We asked the bus boy for another and he brought us the correct size. It was hard to get Daniels attention; we tried a few times to flag him down but he wasn't looking at us. We watched him a few different times throughout our time there, to see how he was with the other tables. We came to the conclusion that he looked like a fish out of water. Maybe he was overwhelmed even though the restaurant was a little more than half full last night at 5:30. Then he brought us our check while we were still eating! I told him I wanted to order dessert. Again, he had no clue what he was doing. I suggest the management take a look at this review and address this issue with him. Our experiences here have always been great, been coming for years.
