The yummy Cranberry Mead wasn't available by the case in Olympia, so here we are again. Is it good, you ask? We drove down here just for that! Well, and a glass of Everybody Loves Raymond IPA. Always the very best service. Families welcome. You won't be disappointed!

Once seated ("I'll seat you here, because the table is the only clean one") in a pub atmosphere that only had 3 tables with patrons in the establishment. It was NOT busy. Ordered 2 coffees and a diet coke. Had to remind her twice before getting it delivered. Ordering a simple breakfast, a sausage and cheese omelet and chicken fried steak. The toast on the plates were hard yet not overly toasted. The gravy and the potatoes were the best part of all 3 meals. Let me say, the omelet was smaller than the toast in comparison. The waitress abandoned ship and slid off the radar... we had to ask another matey to refill the coffee and he did so very promptly! He was the better part of the experience. Nothing better than a "local chain" breakfast stop. Stick to mom and pops place or cross the street for a Taco!

We were hungry, so we didn't think about wanting to travel to Aberdeen for breakfast. We were desperate for food, so we decided to sit down. Needless to say, we had to wait like 1+ hour for our orders of breakfast. I literally had to skip on my biscuit/gravy order due to staffing issue and time constraint. The server was very polite, but we just could not get past the whole 1+ hour of waiting for breakfast. The food was ok. We won't come back.

The bar is rustic, has a good vibe and a ton of antique logging items to look at. You can bring your dog, and your dog can sit in a stool at the bar. There were probably 4 dogs at one point. You'll want to bring a dollar bill to sign and put on the wall. Billiards is free to play. You'll need to check out the bathrooms with the nudie pics..."I'm gonna be in here a while," I yelled to my cousin. The Saginaw Days happens in September which sounds like a fun family outing. The owner was a hoot. Said "that's the lying corner over there," pointing to a bunch of regular locals. They've owned it for about 4 years and left it the way it was. If you ask the owner to tell you the history, he will. It used to be a gas station 100 years ago. Mentioned a gentlemen who is 90 years old living in the house he was born in. There is an old bell that someone can ring when they want to buy the house a round of drinks. Bell came off an old steam engine. Before it was horse and buggy, donkeys, then it quickly modernized. When Saginaw Logging pulled out, it was the last of the big logs. They then started pulling out the train rails, as the wood trestles started rotting anyway, then sold the metal as scrap. They still do a lot of logging up there M- F so got to be careful when on the road. They put in Snoose Creek (the water trough by the bar) for the loggers to spit in. They couldn't smoke in the woods, bunkhouse, mess hall, etc. so loggers took to chewing tobacco. The tough guys just go ahead and swallow, the rookies would chew and spit. You'll see bottle caps in the parking lot as loggers used to throw them down to get grip on the wet muddy grounds for their trucks. It's a good hunting area. All the roads used to be open, but Warehouser, Park Blakley and others started locking their gates. The hunters have to pay $300 to get a key for the gate to go in now, so not as many hunters these days. We did dinner at Clark's restaurant on the way out. Good hamburgers and shakes.

Discover is an accepted form of payment. Charlie's is the only bar in Montesano. The building is old so it was chilly inside during our visit. If you are somebody who chills easily, bring a sweatshirt or light jacket inside with you. Happy Hour is offered Monday-Friday from 4pm-6pm. Well drink specials are offered Sunday-Thursday from 6pm-close. Charlie's offers a full bar and draft beers. Free Wi-Fi is available. Charlie's does not have a kitchen. Food items are microwaved. Remember, this is a dive bar. We all use microwaves at home from time-to-time. I'm good with microwaved food and an ice-cold beer. Charlie's offers many different forms of entertainment during ones visit. Pull tabs, darts, digital jukebox, beer pong, shuffleboard and a couple pool tables. During our visit, my wife and I played a few rounds of darts 501. If I recall correctly, each game was $0.75 (wife paid). While playing darts we slurped on a couple ice-cold Manny's for $5 each. We each took turns ($10 worth) choosing the next song to blast from the jukebox. We had an absolute blast. Our server was downright cool. She was friendly, laid-back, helpful and willing to share her knowledge of the surrounding area and Long Beach area with us. Thank you Charlie's for being one of our highlights during our road-trip. We both look forward to stopping in again the next time we're passing through Montesano.
