Definitely a step up from Tim Hortons, I ordered an iced chai latte and a peanut butter rice crispy roll and they were both delicious. Also grabbed a Nanaimo square and chocolate banana loaf to go. This is one of the best place to come and have breakfast. The location and where this cafe is situated brings such a relax and inspiring feel to your soul. When you enter into the cafe, you are delighted by how all the pastries are neatly placed in there appropriate station. Choices here is abundant and you will definitely want to give everything a try. It's always busy here in the mornings and trying to find a place to sit might be a little difficult but if you wait just a little while, something will always open up unexpectedly and you will be surprise how quickly you will find an open seat. In the end you will get to enjoy your breakfast with you friend that you invited. The staff and even the customers here are upbeat and friendly. Great place to meet new friends. I'm a coffee drinker, so I usually get a latte here. It's nice and smooth tasting. The sandwiches, salads and soups are always fresh. I usually get the croissants and sometimes it's over baked. I haven't tried to many of there other baked goods, but they always look so good on the display. You will never lose interest of this place. Terrible selection, uncaring and unknowledgeable staff, and no kid friendly options. Selection is spotty; you're lucky if they have anything in stock. We tried to get grilled cheese sandwiches for our kids, but they didn't have cheese (???). None of the other options - at a zoo! - are kid friendly. That's terrible because there are no other options for families. Service was slow. It took easily 5 minutes for them to pour soup in a cup. Coffee was mediocre and slow. Staff seemed confused about what they do, and do not, sell. They'll often sell things they don't have, leaving you stuck. A very bohemian atmosphere with reasonably priced, light food such as sandwiches, wraps, and baked goods of all kinds. The displays looked absolutely delicious. I just stopped in to grab a coffee - the medium roast was excellent. I saw lattes being prepared, with art on top (this always impresses me). A good place to people watch, very busy with views of 99st as well as the Route 99 parking lot. It can be hard to get a spot on the bike rack if you peddle over. The soup is usually good, but the sandwiches are unappealing. The scones are delicious, especially the ones drizzled with chocolate. The coffee is ok, as is the service: not wow-worthy but adequate. Wild Earth is a neighborhood bakery with a number of delicious baked goods (like the white chocolate pumpkin spice scone!) for you to enjoy while you sip a beverage of choice (try the chai latte!). They also have sandwiches, wraps, breakfast buns, and other things you'd expect a bakery to have. Seating is sort of limited because it get's pretty busy, but if you can't find a comfy chair in the back room and don't want to awkwardly stand around, they also have take-and-bake prepped goodies in a cooler for you to take on the kitchen and bake like a boss at home. ps. Their Chili is pretty fantastic. Also, the Wild Earth grocery beside the bakery is pretty awesome. A lot of the inventory sold there is local, organic, and delicious with comparible prices to Big-Box Stores. They also sell Dinner-to-Go containers for those on the fly! read more

Ok it's time for a re-yelp. Now I know that I have professed my distaste for yucky coffee and my interpretation of bad service about Wild Earth in my previous yelp, I feel the need to clear the air because there seem to have been some recent changes. 1.The beans. Recently Wild earth changed their coffee beans and even the decaf Americano is to die for. Yes, the coffee has gone from awful to amazing. Thanks WE! 2. In the past I expressed disappointment about the unappreciative service. Well, not sure if it's the end of 99 ST construction nearing or the new coffee beans but my local barristas and the owner of WE have been very polite and even chatty. It's appreciated because I like to feel that my regular business and hard earned dollars are going to a good place with nice people. I take it back. Re-Yelp! I needed a bakery that would be able to make me a preservative-free, natural flavor and natural color birthday cake. The staff there was very helpful and the baking team at Wild Earth made us a beautiful and very professional-looking cake. It was a very heavy and solid cake and a little on the dry side, but still pretty tasty. VERY expensive however. I plan to go back to try out some of their other baked goods. read more

Great ambience, great food, great service! We stumbled across the Wild Earth Bakery by accident one night and since then we've been back many times despite the fact that it's quite a ways from our north end home. The vegetarian chili is outstanding and we love the chai tea latte. I haven't tried the baked goods yet, but I'm looking forward to it! read more

My friend ordered 2 cakes from here for her husbands birthday. One was vanilla with strawberry filing, and the other was chocolate with peanut butter filing. Both cakes were extremely dry and not even worth the calories of my first and only bites. Cake should be moist, not bone dry. read more

I love this place and have been popping in regularly for years for breakfast and tasty baked goods. This morning I needed a good pick me up after the gym and no weak drive through coffee would cut it- I needed the good stuff! I went in at 6:45am and it was already busy with morning rush. The crew there are awesome, and despite the rush, I was in and out and on my way to work on time. Candis makes a MEAN latte! I stopped into the Wild Earth Bakery one day by accident when the line-up at Route 99 was too long for my liking. I needed something fast to quell my mood-debilitating hunger, and I lucked out here at Wild Earth, where the make a quick, mean egg, ham and cheese sammy for under $4, cooked on a fresh bun to boot! Impressive. I'd kinda been avoiding this place because I find the "Wild Earth" name somewhat misleading. It's next door to the Wild Earth Food store, yet another grocery outfit that's pretending to be all enviro and earthy, when it's just a gimmick to get people in the door. At the bakery they're "striving" to be organic - but they're not. That's not to say that they don't make delicious baked goods: cinnamon buns, raspberry & white chocolate scones, butter tarts and more. If they've got something good, why do they have to do it under the pretext of something else, which they're not?! read more

The kids were at a Valley Zoo birthday party, so the adults decided to spend the last hour waiting for them in the Wild Earth Bakery. My wife said that she had been to this location before and had liked it. She started rattling off the menu from their web page until I agreed. From what I had heard, my expectations were high. I must say up front that the cafe's ambiance is nice. It's a large space with large windows that look into the zoo's courtyard entrance. It was enjoyable to sit here. However, it might have been a good idea to have some windows facing into the zoo proper so you could watch some of the nearby animals. It's not necessary as I've said, the ambiance is nice, but I think they missed out on an easy win that would have provided this cafe with some uniqueness. With that out of the way, let's delve into why this is only a two star. Honestly, the expected food options gleaned from the webpage was not what I expected. It's possible to give them some leeway because it was late in the day, but there were no baskets of muffins, no cakes, no breads, and no sandwiches. There were a few cookies in jars, and 6-8 wraps and maybe 3-4 salads in the the display. Essentially, according to the website I was expecting to be spoiled for choice as there were 26 different categories of food, from breakfast to savory, to sweet. With not much choice, I selected the breakfast wrap which was meant to be: "Chopped egg with peppers, onion, with a hint of heat offered as a vegetarian or with ground chorizo sausage". As I chomped into the premade microwave warmed breakfast wrap (for $7), all I could taste was the whole wheat wrap and a bit of egg. The hint of head was just some guy saying, "Hey buddy, I'll give you a hint, there ain't no heat here. Here's a side dish of some salsa." Eventually, when I got down to the last 2 cm of the wrap, the chorizo made an appearance. And it's appearance was of ground pork, not chorizo. There might even have been some peppers and onion mixed into the chorizo section. I'm not positive about that though. Okay, so that's a bit strong about the single dish I've had, thankfully I have this green tea latte, which is local code for matcha latte, I guess. I ordered that because I've had atrocious tea lattes elsewhere, but have never had a poorly made matcha latte. I mean...how can you screw that up? It generally just steamed or frothed milk and a couple tablespoons of matcha powder. Maybe if they want to make it fancy, there's some syrup thrown in, but I kinda like it without syrup, so if that's not part of their process, I'm happy. What I have in my hand though is a warm cup of what looks like dark green froth. I suspect that the matcha powder was added to late or something, because the froth should not look like that. After tasting...I was intrigued. That was good froth...way too good. So good because the matcha was mixed through the froth, but there was very little left in the cup. The only significant matcha in the cup was the clump left stuck in the bottom edge. I guess a matcha latte can be made poorly. My wife ordered a coffee and cup of soup and all four things came to nearly $25. Ignoring quality, that seems way too much for what we got. read more

I used to come to Wild Earth when I worked super early mornings. I'd pick up a latte, and either some raspberry white chocolate scones, or a couple slices of banana bread. Everything is super fresh, and absolutely delicious. I prefer to go earlier in the day where there is more product and it's still warm, but any time is a good time for a treat! read more

Wild Earth Cafe has always been one of my favourite cafes. After the renovation and extension it's THE favorite one. Awesome coffee and espresso drinks, good collection of teas, choice of pastries, cookies, sandwiches. salads and soups makes it a fantastic spot for weekday evenings and sunday afternoons. Little sections give you choice of space. You can sit by the window, in the main room, by the fire place, or in the more private space of the small room they have in one corner. Decoration is nice and has a cozy cabin-in-the-woods sort of feel to it. if you decided to grab your laptop and work here, keep in mind that there's no wifi. read more

I love this gem of a cafe! When I moved to the neighbourhood and saw Wild Earth on the corner I knew I was going to love living here and I was right! I've been frequenting the cafe for over three years and love that it is such a vibrant gathering place that really enhances the sense of community in the neighbourhood. The baked treats are sinfully good and the selection of snacks, soups and sandwiches are always top-notch. We had stopped in this bakery before, but this was our first time eating here...well, kind of! It was after 3:00 and knowing we were in the middle of our day's adventures, I begged my husband to pull over so I could get something to eat.. I ran in, picked up a couple of sandwiches and a peanut butter cookie and was quickly back out the door - after paying $16.00, that is. The staff were helpful and there wasn't a lineup although there were several people enjoying the great weather at their tables outside. As for the sandwiches and the cookie, they were tasty, but the price seemed a bit high. If I'm in the neighbourhood again, I'll surely be back for other bakery items. So last year I would have said, definitely go to this place (4 stars)... This year, methinks not. Last year I ordered a Red Velvet cake for my wife's birthday. Ordering process was a bit wacky, but ok, they are a small shop, they don't have their process for getting orders quite right. However the cake was fabulous. Very moist great flavour. Icing was done perfectly. So willing to overlook wacky ordering process. This year, From the start, it was all messed up. Phoned to order cake hoping that they would replicate last year's success. Apparently I called when the bakers weren't there and the Front Service staff weren't allowed to take cake orders due to screw-ups in the past (maybe I should have paid attention to the foreshadowing here). Was also told that I wouldn't be able to leave voice mail so, after I got off the phone, I had to place order online. The next day, I heard nothing, so I had to call the following day. The baker says, "ya we got your order" and then proceeds to ask a number of questions that were not on the website order form, including requesting full payment. Well, if you got my order, could you have at least acknowledged that ? apparently they don't do that. And oh by the way, I'm not totally cool with paying for something in advance when I don't get any assurance of quality.. anyway... (in retrospect, this is the point I should have run the other way) I picked up the cake, and they let you inspect it prior to taking it away, I would say paying for it, but I already did that. I get home and the icing is so thick that it's already slid off the side ! Seriously... that's disappointing ! Oh well, I guess I'm forced to overlook that. I present this to my wife, she cuts into it and.... It's Fuchsia ! WTF ! I've never seen a Red Velvet cake that is Fuchsia in colour before. Trying to be objective, about the colour, I try it. Ok, it's moist, but it's flavourless. The cake is definitely missing something. I'm not sure what, but this is an effort where if I made this, that would be somewhat acceptable. However coming from a professional baker. Wow, all I can say is, "that's really disappointing ! " My wife concurs, and voices her disappointment as well. After paying over $30 for a small cake. Really ? is this as good as it gets. Wild Earth, I just hope your other products are better than your cake. Thanks but no thanks ! I think I try to make this on my own next year.... Great food, best cakes and great service!!! Last year, I ordered a cake for my son's birthday but due to some staff illness and holiday blur, my cake was forgotten. I was sad. But the upside is that I was reimbursed immediately and offered a free cake. I came back to them this week and they remembered me and honoured their offer! That's what I call good service! Located on the south side of Edmonton. A hangout for the yuppy crowd with their lattes and muffins. Nice neighbourhood atmosphere with brick and nooks and stools to see the street and leather chairs. Popular place and they have live music on Fridays. Food wise I have had no luck with their muffins or cinnamon buns or scones as I found them fatty and or tasteless. But I do love their banana pecan and lemon seed loaves. Their soup was good but chili was only big chunks of hamburger and a can of mixed beans, very blah. Sandwiches and bread are fine. Their baked goods look amazing but I have yet to try any; however, their coffees and teas are amazing and you can feel great about ordering them as they have some healthy options (e.g. organic almond milk, can ask for real honey instead of simple syrup). I have always enjoyed this bakery/cafe. Easy to access, there's street parking along side and through the neighborhood (i don't mind walking) as well as parking lot shared with their other neighbors and grocery store. There's comfy seating and lots of tables and chairs. I like the fact that you can sit in or take out. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant and i especially like the fact that they feature local talent on open mike. It feels like you are in your living room sometimes where you can just sit back, sip on some coffee, eat some yummy baked goods and listen to live music and poetry. Recently we had a wedding bridal shower and had a cake ordered. It was delicious and a hit at the party. I find the service friendly, however, when there's a line up, expect that they are working hard to move that line fast. They always put our their fresh good but also sell their later-in-the-week goods for lower the price which i still think its awesome because it seems fresher still, than larger grocery store bought bread. I was looking for a place where I can buy decent gluten-free bakings in the city, and my mother-in-law recommended this place. I have tried their gluten-free cakes, which you can pick and chose what you want in your cake, and they were great. You cannot really tell the cake is gluten-free; the cake does not taste like cardboard and its texture is soft and moist. I would go back to the bakery when I would like gluten-free bakings in the future. read more

If you enjoy fresh homemade treats this is the place for you. My favorites are the cinnamon buns, you can choose from plain or whole wheat and with or without raisins! The scones are on my list to try....lemon squares are yummy. Cakes are a bit hit and miss I have ordered a couple and they can be on the dry side. I love the London fog varieties for drinks and my go to is the Mathca latte. You will have to wait a little longer as they prepare your delicious treats and it is usually busy but the wait is worth it. You will also pay a little more my latte is over $6. This used to by my all time favourite cafe in Edmonton. I came here at least once a week even though i don't live nearby. Sadly it seems to have lost some of it's charm within the last year. The coffee isn't as good and there isn't the same selection or quality of food as before. I want to like Wild Earth Bakery, I really do. I think the owners are cool/interesting people and I love the location in Edmonton, but there's just a couple of things that irk me about Wild Earth. Firstly, no wi-fi. I have to write this review from home because there's no wi-fi. Who knows maybe if i was sitting in the cafe updating my Instagram and checking my email I might also throw in a positive review for Wild Earth but I can't because no wi-fi. It seems like a petty complaint but really a hipster coffee bar should have wi-fi. Next, didn't really enjoy the food all that much.. I don't want to say the food wasn't made in house but something just didn't taste good about the breakfast burrito (I'm hoping it wasn't a Sysco product but it tasted a little like opened from a bag and put on the grill) with all that said I do think it's a pretty cute place. Small tweaks and this place could move up to a 5 in my books. Oh ya and it needs air conditioning!! My heart breaks for their sweaty staff on hot days! read more

I've been driving by this café a lot lately and because I've heard such good things about this place I decided to go in and check it out. Right of the bat I loved the atmosphere; they have some nice seating by the windows and they have this one really nice wooden table with nice wooden chairs. That just happens to be the one spot everyone wants, so get there early to claim it. The place was pretty busy when I went in; there really weren't any more places to sit but I was lucky that one opened up by the time my latte was ready. My friends come in to this place all the time and they told me to try one of their tarts; well I have to say the apple and raspberry butter tart they have are really good! They have a few to choose from if you don't like apple or raspberry. They also have a lot of other yummy items to taste. They have a couple different kinds of banana bread; one with just walnuts and the other with walnuts and chocolate chips. They have cakes and different kinds of bars; they have this one chocolate overdose bar that is really thick and looks so yummy; that's a good item to share with someone. Their lattes are really good and I've heard magical things about their hot chocolate so that's the next thing I want to try. I also want to check out some of their good items. They have yummy sandwiches and other great things too much on. They also have a couple of salads to choose from. And the best thing about this place is that they café for planet earth so they use nothing but bridgeable coffee cups! Oh, if you happen to be an artist or a photographer you could sell some of your work from their store; I'm not sure how you would go about doing this but I'm sure the staff members would be able to fill you in. read more

This is my neighbourhood cafe, so I admit that I'm probably a little biased, but I love this place! However I do have a complaint: they don't have a good selection of cold coffee drinks (I can't tell you how often I would be here if they had a rockin' Vietnamese iced coffee on their menu). Their cakes are super tasty, and the service is always awesome. It's nice to see them so busy at nearly all hours of the day (even if it means I can't find a place to plop down and read a book). read more

The cinnamon buns are dry, the breakfast sandwiches use some sort of crazy egg mixture, and the panini is a loaf of bread with a sprinkle of stuff in the middle.
