One of the best meals we had in Saugatuck/Douglas! A very nice, upscale bar and grille with plenty of options for lunch and dinner. I had their wood-oven pizza, and it was very tasty. Crispy crust and the cheese was very fresh. The duck nachos were amazing. The ingredient list might sound a bit off, but give them a shot, they're very good. Nice wine selection as well. read more

I'm torn with this place. It wants to be at least four stars but can only achieve three. The food is serviceable and the atmosphere is actually good, but the service team appears to consist of either failed artists or high school juniors on summer break. I think with the right team spirit and appropriate communication of verve, that coveted fourth star could be within reach. Not so much that elusive fifth star, without a new management team, multi-carrier cellular boosters, and enhanced menu items. There's a reason Everyday People Cafe across the street had a line around the corner and we walked right jn to a 4-top here. But all things considered, it's better than Burger King. read more

Great patio. Lovely interior space. Our spinach cheese appetizer was wonderful. Shrimp pesto entree was full of super fresh ingredients. The enchiladas were delicious too. Huge portions. Terrible waitress. Spilled food and water. Hated my black friend, threw food as if a frisbee @ at her. Didn't have a gluten free menu. Burned toast on the worst grilled cheese of my life. Bacon on wrong burger. Water cup to small. All cheap furniture, but food was stupidly overpriced for a stupidly small menu. Said we would have to squeeze at a table even after they promised they had room -- LIARS. Dog peed in restaurant -- took name of establishment too literally. I do not support hunting big game. Sold overpriced T-shirts. Staff was wearing inappropriate clothing -- not family friendly. Did not alert us to selfie spots AKA did not cater to audience. In the past this has been my favorite restaurant in SW Michigan, unfortunately this season has been disappointing. They have changed to a bar food restaurant. The wonderful Parmesan fries are now limp and pretty bland. The biggest disappointment was the crab cake appetizer. For the last four years this dish came with a wonderful slaw and sauce. Now it comes with what can only be described as regurgitated asparagus and cucumbers mixed in a pungent, acidic slime. The sauce was just abysmal. All I can say is now that the restaurant is seasonal there doesn't seem to be any concern about quality or taste. This is distressing to the locals who frequently visited because we will not be returning. How incredibly sad! read more

What a pleasant surprise! Sunday night dinner was fabulous! I had the chicken Parma-cata, a bit of a hybrid between chicken Parmesan and chicken piccata. Very creative and delicious. The menu is great- sometimes you find one or two dishes that you REALLY want to try, but this menu had 7 or 8 dishes that jumped off the page at me. Great variety, from meat to fish to salads and a great kids menu. Our group of 8 all found a dish to enjoy. The interior is very inviting, sort of a contemporary hunting lodge theme. Really nice outdoor patio and great bar area with tvs which I imagine make it a great spot to watch sports. Finally, our server was fun, charming and very helpful. We are not in this part of Michigan very often but if we are ever nearby, I would make the effort to go here. read more

Fantastic! Me and my fiance went to Saugatuck this weekend and we stopped in Wild Dog for dinner and i have to say it was a great experience! The wait was long, but no surprise since it was The Venetian Festival and the all the restaurants were packed. The bartender was great, our server was fantastic and very accomodating, since my fiance is vegan we often have a hard time eating out, but this was not the case here! The food was great! read more

I think this was our best dinner on our recent trip to Saugatuck. We drove the short distance to Douglas and we were very happy that we did. First, the atmosphere was really warm and nice- modern decor, good lighting, knowledgeable staff. There was a bar area in the front, a dining room towards the rear and an outdoor seating area on one side. The menu exactly matched the tone of the restaurant - it was fresh, and creative with a good mix of protein based meals as well as some vegetarian options. I had the Thai Beef Skewer and my husband had the Shrimp Ceviche and Olives & Cheese plate. It was by far the best food we'd had all week! I hope that Wild Dog sticks around for awile - I want to return many more times! read more

We've really enjoyed lunch and dinner here. If you just want a pizza or sandwich or you want a nice dinner entrée you won't be disappointed. The chicken BLT salad and the avocado crab salad were very good. The grilled salmon and the catch of the day were very fresh and tender. My hubster always likes his calamari and I like my cream Brule. All and all it's a great little place in Douglas, which is across the street from Saugatuck. I only had a drink here, but definitely will be back soon for some food. I had a fantastic bloody mary - with one of the most creative garnishes ever - a slice of awesome sausage! This is second only to the spiced shrimp I had at a now defunt restaurant called Georgia in LA - hm! I love Bloody Mary's so when I get a good one I remember it. We filled up on a Mediterranean plate of hummus, roasted red peppers, feta, and lightly spiced pita, addicting sweet potato fries with a coconut ginger spice, a creamy crab and corn chowder, salads with avocado ranch dressing, and a spicy chili. For entrees, we feasted on the grilled barramundi with quinoa salad, adobo pork enchiladas, and toasted ravioli with portabello mushrooms and spinach. The husband and I took a little cruise down to Douglas to celebrate his Birthday yesterday. We ended up here after going back and forth between a few restaurants and wow are we so happy we did! Our waitress was great; super preppy, attentive and sweet. The drink menu was fun and different, and reasonably priced. The star of the night however was the food. Hubby got the Sam n' Kimchi which blew every other salmon dish we've ever had out of the water. It was perfectly cooked, had great flavor and was paired with an awesome kimchi fried rice. I ordered the gourmet grilled cheese and it was to die for. We're looking forward to returning soon when the patio is open this summer! read more

We happened to park by Wild Dog Grille on our way to another restaurant. We saw the awesome outside patio and cool interior design as we walked down the street. Before grabbing a table at our original destination, we decided to check out both menus and did a 180 and sat down at Wild Dog instead. Great decision. The atmosphere was awesome. The wait staff was very friendly and made sure our waters were topped off, answered any questions we had, and got our food out in a timely manner. I went with the steak pomme frites and just wow! That was one of the best steaks I've had. The waitress mentioned that I got a larger steak than the meal usually comes with (luck of the draw I guess), and it was definitely huge. The seasoning was amazing on it, the cook (rare) was perfect, and the whole thing just melted in your mouth - it was so delicate! Even if it had been the normal size instead of the large one I lucked into, it would absolutely have earned the 5 stars. And that's before we even get to the amazing shrimp pasta dish my girlfriend had. The shrimps were flavorful, the vegetables fresh, and the pasta was perfectly cooked and complimented the dish wonderfully. We rarely leave leftovers, but both of us had food to spare - great lunch the next day! Wild Dog was fantastic and we'll be coming back many times. Highly recommend. read more

Also had some sort of a whiskey lemonade which was tasty...The decor sucks because it's a bunch of hunting trophies and the service was shite. Went here a few weeks ago with my parents on a Saturday. We got there around 1:00 for lunch. We got seated at a table in front of the fireplace, it was really nice. I ordered the Wild Dog Burger, one of the best burgers I've ever had, the sweet potato fries were good too. My partner had the hot turkey sandwich, I may have liked that one a little better than mine but they were both really good. I would definitely go back to the Wild Dog Grille. Love This place! A great restaurant In a small town. The decor is awesome and it feels so cozy in there, especially in the winter time with the fireplace they have in the dining area. The bar is big and they have a big selection of beer and wine as well as a full bar. I love their ribs and tilapia tacos. The spinach artichoke appetizer is DELICIOUS! The servers are great and super helpful if you have any questions about the menu. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice dinner. We have been here three times and even though the service is a bit slow (busy!) the atmosphere and wait staff is super friendly. We split a house salad with Lemon Grass-Chile Vinaigrette - amazing. We also split a make your own pizza suggested by our waiter with Pesto, Chèvre cheese, Sun Dried Tomatoes and Spinich. But back to the food, Eddie our waiter was so helpful, his recommendations knocked it out of the park. Chef Benjamin created an incredibly tasty burger. Gargonzola cheese, haystack onion rings, of course bacon and a fabulous grape sauce, and one more avocado/mayo/garlic spread. This burger exploded with flavor. One of the best burgers I ever had.
