Wijn aan de Kade distinguishes itself from other wineshops in the city (and country) because of the events and tastings they organize on a regular bases.
Despite the fact that they just opened the business November 1st, they allready organized many tastings, open for everybody and most of them even free of charge. A couple of winemakers of the wine they sell in the shop, have been invited to present a masterclass about the wines. The next one will be on April 22nd, then a Spanish couple will be presenting their wines.
It's also possible to organize a private tasting or -dining for a group from 12 persons. The owners are very enthousiastic and passionate peoples, whom clearly know a lot about wines and love to tell about it. Actually, the owner has a Youtube channel (leons' winemenentaries) with more than 110 video's about wine.
The events differ from themes: so they have a monthly ladiesnight, the Wine & Shine, on this night the wineshop is accompanied by pop-up shops which serve the pleasures of the ladies: shoes, handbags, hats, jewelery, a fashionshow, nailstyling, fudges, tea and a winetasting of course. The next one will be on June 4th.
For the artistics they organize every 6 weeks a poetrynight, Maandacht (the name arose from the words maandag, which means Monday en aandacht, Dutch for involvement. Talented poets write and perform about current affairs, or whatever they're occupied with. Normally the shop is closed on Monday's but for Maandacht they make an exception.
Then there is the High-Wine on the last Sunday of the month: a four-course meal between lunch and diner, served with matching wines. Everything for an all-inclusiveprice.
The interior of the wineshop and the stories about wine is really worth a visit to the shop!
