I went here for the first time today. I called in advance to ensure there was still plenty of…read morecrawfish. Asked if I could do my order over the phone to secure some crawfish, but she politely told me I needed to come and go through the drive thru. It's located on the left hand side of LA Hwy 70. There are two seafood places side by side but Craws and Claws is the first one before you get to the lake. Be careful where you turn in at because it's a drive thru set up, so you go in one side and come out of the other. If you mess up like I did, it's easy to turn around, just be careful. There was a dry erase board just off to the side of the drive thru where the whole menu shows you just what they have and the prices. I came on Monday April 26th at 2PM. The menu showed crabs, crawfish, shrimp, both live and boiled, corn, potatoes, sausage, mushroom, garlic, sausage, and more. The lady was so nice both in person and on the phone. She packaged our stuff up so securely and even gave us an extra bag just in case. Our price was $3.99/lb for boiled crawfish but depending on when you come that price will fluctuate. Early on in crawfish season it's pretty expensive, but toward the end of the season, things gets little more affordable. Hands down, that was the best crawfish I've had in a long time. It was spiced just right. We had not even one bad crawfish. It was all great. The potatoes and corn were excellent. The boudin did not disappoint. It was so tasty and delicious. We had a big ol' polar pop to help wash it all down. We paid about $58 and some change for 12lbs of very tasty crawfish....that included 2 orders of potatoes, 2 orders of corn, and 2 pieces of boudin. Not a bad price at all for the amount of food we got. We enjoyed every bit. We will be going back very soon.

Need to update hours. I went right before they closed (website said they closed at 7) I got there…read moreat 5. They were out of everything and the crawfish was not fresh.

This is a really mixed bag here. On one hand, they have some great fish, poultry and meat…read moreselections, on the other hand their produce, hot sauce (they don't even carry Tapatio or Chalula*** they started carrying Chalula!) selections leaves something to be desired. They do boat orders, so they have a large, hidden selection of food. For instance, they have great Tyson Fire wings (non breaded) in the back, as well as rabbit, grouper, flounder, and a slue of other fish in the back that you have to ask for. Most come in 10lb boxes. They have gator meat in season as well. The problem is, they are certainly behind the times in organic food, and they cost a little more than I would like. Some of the employees are friendly, and others could give a hoot. This is certainly not a one stop grocery shop, but the fact that they cater to boat companies gives them a slightly unique selection of proteins to choose from. So, even when I am not shopping for the boat, you may see me in there shopping for mi casa!

Their weakest point is their produce section. Half of their fruit section is apples and oranges. There is a very limited selection and some of it is not the freshest. Their strong point is their seafood selection. You can get anything from frog legs to turtle meat to shrimp, crab meat and fish at a reasonable price. Another strong point is the friendliness and helpfulness of their employees. I'm handicapped and they are always doing something to help me and that means a lot. I've rarely found anyone to help me at Wal-Mart. They also have giveaways that you can register for by filling out the bottom of your register receipt and dropping it off in the barrel on the counter. They also have an email service where you can register to receive their weekly ad in your email. You can also find some really good cookies and baked goods at the front of the store.

La Morita's Meat Market is a hidden gem! I primarily shop the market for authentic Mexican beef and…read morechicken fajita meat. The meat is pre-seasoned, always fresh, delicious, and priced wonderfully. Do not be intimidated by the possible language barrier. The employees will figure out what you need! If you're going for just the meat, walk directly to the meat counter and place your order. If you're looking for more treats, peruse the aisles.

I go there for the restaurant, but they have a fantastic meat market, and they have cheeses from all over Latin America. The food is authentic Mexican cuisine. Delicious, and mostly healthy! I believe it is the healthiest place to eat in the area. I often get their sopes, tacos, or... can't remember what it is called! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!! Sorry... Well, the last time I went there I got one of their enchilada dishes, and, holy guacamole!! They were the best enchiladas I have ever graced my mouth with! Moving along... there is a language barrier. I speak pretty decent Spanish, so it ain't no thang to me. If it is a problem for you, well, they came up with a brilliant solution! These vatos no son idiotos! The menu is posted in pictures on the wall. Their menu is ginormous. The selection is out of this world! Or, at least, beyond our country's borders? Anywho... At times you will see the cook running to the produce section of the market to get fresh veggies for the dish you just ordered. It is great. And, the variety of hot sauces they make will blow you away! They do about 6 different sauces, only some of them are presented on a given day. On occasion, they are all available. There is some drawback here... Sometimes the wait is longer than desired. At times this is completely reasonable as the place gets packed like sardines. But... there is also a time, here and there, where the place is empty, and it takes 20 or soooo minutes to get your food. If you are worried about this, order 2 tacos de lengua with your meal, and they will come out before the rest of your food! Enjoy!
