The instructor was incredibly kind, patient, and helpful, making sure we were happy with our designs every step of the way. Even if you're new to working with resin, everything is explained clearly and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Because the resin needs time to cure, boards are picked up at least 24 hours later. We haven't picked ours up yet, but we're already excited to see how they turned out based on how great the experience was. They also offer a wide variety of other classes, including acrylic and oil painting, paint pours, and more. We'll definitely be back to try another class--highly recommend for a fun, creative outing!

We met the owner (Jeannie), who was so nice and scheduled a private session for the three of us right after our surfing and before our bioluminescent kayaking. The studio has so much incredible artwork. Jeannie invited us to walk around and pick ideas of what we wanted to do. She prepped the canvases and everything while we surfed. When we returned for our lesson, Jeannie had everything set up for us and taught us how to paint a beach scene with grassy dunes, palm trees, and a dolphin jumping out of the water. All of us were impressed with what we were able to do, and came home with lasting painting techniques. When we were done, I was trying to decide how to get the paintings home since I prefer to carry on our luggage, and Jeannie offered to mail them to us. When they arrived, they came with an extra painting kit she gave us. I am SO SO SO thrilled that we stumbled upon this. Highly recommend!!! Oh, also--Jeannie is a cardiac nurse. She got into this by helping her patients recover by helping them through art. Incredible woman with an incredible story. Memorable experience for sure.

I also invited our family and some friends. It was everyone's first time taking a Painting with a twist class and we all loved it. They allow you to bring your own drink and food. We brought wine and a charcuterie board and it was so easy to munch and sip through out the class. I loved how they have the stations set up and aprons to use. They play fun music and the class is very easy to follow. I was surprised by how great we all did and it was very cool to compare our art at the end. The teacher was very sweet and had a great personality for teaching. Overall the class was worth every $ and we would love to come back and do another class soon. As locals it's great to try something new in our neighborhood.

It really doesn't matter if you are artist or not...just go do it…read more.. I didn't know what to expect, other than spending time with good friends in what I figured was a painting class. What I got was a fun, entertaining, and truly special evening all the while painting (which I had never done in my life. The moment you walk in, the staff helps with the selection of colors, the prep and points you to your assigned seats (written down by name!) Then that's where the fun begins. The artist walks you through, step-by-step on how to pull of the painting - I had my doubts I could actually do it, but even though I'm saying this myself, I think I did a pretty good job. There was friendly and fun banter throughout the whole process, a break period where we had a fun game drawing a cow (or was it a giraffe?) and even someone won a prize. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I'm already looking forward to going back again (and more.)

Instead of apologizing or trying to fix it, the owner became incredibly defensive, hostile, and rude. They do not take accountability for their mistakes and lack basic customer service skills. We've been loyal customers of Mimi's Crafts for over 20 years, visiting regularly with my…read morehandicapped mother and aunt, who have always enjoyed painting keepsakes together during visits. Sadly, since the new ownership took over, the experience has drastically gone downhill. On their most recent visit, they were told--quite abruptly--that moving forward they would only be allowed to come in twice per piece, and that painting must be completed within six months of purchase. This was never a policy before, and the way it was communicated felt aggressive and unwelcoming. Disheartened by the interaction, they decided it would be their last time visiting Mimi's. To make matters worse, when they were called to say their pieces had finished firing, they were informed one of them had broken--without a hint of an apology. The only "resolution" offered was a gift card for the original value or nothing at all. When they went to pick up what was left of the piece, the owner was present and still didn't offer a single apology. This is not the kind of customer service or family-friendly environment we used to know and love. It's deeply disappointing to see such a treasured place become so unaccommodating and indifferent toward long-time customers. We will be taking our business--and our loyalty--to one of the many other paint-your-own studios in the area that still prioritize kindness, flexibility, and community. And when leaving a review on google to express these issues, it felt like we were responded to with a chatgpt answer, because it wasn't even being addressed to the correct person. Which felt even more impersonal.
