Great old school black barbershop. Gave me a perfect skin fade on my way across the country. Made me feel at home.

But as someone who came through Lake Charles for work, this visit stuck with me and not in a good way. I came in asking for a skin fade. Without being asked or discussed, I got a number one instead. If someone cannot do a skin fade, that is totally fine. Just say so. I would rather hear honesty than walk out with something I did not ask for. What really made it uncomfortable was the vibe. The stylist spent a good chunk of the appointment complaining about having to work. I get it. We would all rather be home with family or friends. But maybe do not bring that energy into the chair. It makes the whole experience awkward fast. I will say this. If you are a local, this seems like a solid spot. You can tell there are established relationships and regulars who are well taken care of. As a walk in, though, I definitely felt marginalized, like I was just something to get through rather than a customer. I still tipped her, which she seemed genuinely surprised by. That kind of summed it up. Two weeks later my hair grew out way too fast because of the cut, so I went to Supercuts instead. The difference was night and day. Better service, better attitude, better cut. They also got a much bigger tip without hesitation. I hate leaving reviews like this, but if you are charging for a service, quality, communication, and basic professionalism matter. Especially when someone is just passing through and hoping for something simple and respectful.

This old style barber shop caters to guys wanting anything from a shave to the works and it's the essential stop for every gentleman who understands the importance of grooming and the pleasure of being pampered. A cut above your ordinary barber shop, their services go beyond a shave and a haircut. Barbier offers luxury shaves, haircuts, manicures, pedicures, shoe shines and beard trims in a relaxed masculine environment. Guests may imbibe in a premium Scotch or bourbon or enjoy any choice other complimentary beverage with every service; cigars are available for purchase and to enjoy in the Barbier Cigar & Whiskey Lounge. The pampering outlet gets its name from the year the straight razor was first constructed in Sheffield, England. However, Barbier (pronounced like Bar-Bee-Air) technicians utilize 5-blade razors as research proves they offer the closest shave. The girls/"stylists" are cute to look at with their short outfits and are obviously required to call every man who walks in "Handsome"... Some of them I know it was hard to! Haha Back to the cut - it was not the best. She actually did what I would call a chop job and something I would not have walked out paying $30 for.. I would probably expect better at a mall. It was not even in the front and kind of had dips missing out of the back when she cut with the clippers. However, because my man is so handsome he can pull anything off :)
