Top is my biopsy from memorial Sloan Kettering. 5 inches below is my biopsy from poopy white plains hospital.
    Emma C.

I was diagnosed with a softball-sized tumor in my retroperitoneal cavity and referred to White Plains Hospital and Dr. Sasan Roayaie. My experience was very disappointing. They gave me limited options -- basically surgery with the loss of my kidney -- and performed a biopsy that produced no results. At a second hospital, the biopsy was done in a completely different spot, and I had preliminary results the next day with a clear timeline for answers. White Plains, on the other hand, left me waiting almost two weeks with no communication. For something as serious as a tumor, I recommend going straight to Memorial Sloan Kettering. Their accuracy, communication, and expertise far surpassed what I experienced at White Plains. Below is a picture of my back where you can clearly see the two biopsy spots. Definitely showing how the first hospital COMPLETELY MISSED the tumor. Did they blind fold themselves then stick me?

If you ever have to go to the ER and you are in Westchester County, Please do pick White Plains Hospital. Friday 2/11/2022: After my brief visit to Urgent Care NYCMed, we were discreetly recommended to go here for a more thorough exam and tests. We were ever so glad - every staff member was lovely and welcoming. The Resident MD and Nurse Practitioner both displayed superb bedside manner, articulate and clear concise explanation of diagnoses. One of the charming male nurses said that I look 25 years younger than my actual age. Thank you, Mr Nurse! It is remarkable to have a good medical center that runs like a well oiled machine, and serves what ails us professionallly and humanitarily. Well trained doctors and a good professional medical staff are a very good thing. Right, Martha? I admire White Plains Hospital's commitment to setting a stellar example. I am doing well and was sent home thankfully. Thank you for reading. UPDATE Sunday 2/13/2022: WPH has called me twice to check up on how I am doing. That is wonderful. Thank you!!!

I was an inpatient there back in early 2013. I know that was 11 years ago, but my experience there…read morewas "bittersweet" to say the least and has had a profound effect on me to this day. At first, I was in the BPD unit, forgot the name and number, until by fault of my own ( I caught feelings for someone while inpatient), I was transferred to the women's unit, 6S or 6 South because they had no strict male or men's only units there when it came down to it. I got the short end of the stick so to speak. Overall, this experience taught me to be more aware and have my guard up, especially when it comes to having a healthy relationship with the opposite sex or gender, something that the staff has discussed with me further. I liked how the psychiatrists have cared for me, in both units, coed and women's. They were very kind, compassionate, and patient, and explained the conditions well. Also, they were right on the dot with my diagnoses ( PTSD, Major Depressive Disorder or MDD, and Mood Disorder NOS or Non-Other Specified). As a current nursing student who is graduating next semester, I liked my plan of care and found it to be reasonable. The food was great too and I was able to get nutrition counseling when weight gain became a concern. I would like to give a shout-out and a warm "thank you" to Margo Benjamin, M.D. for letting me be under her care and collaborating with my neurologist at that time not only to stabilize me mentally and emotionally but also to help control my psychogenic seizures. I enjoyed their group and pet therapy sessions across both units. Here's what I feel went wrong now in my eyes as a health professional with the knowledge of psychiatric nursing and a caretaker: I felt like they all "cluster diagnosed" and labeled all female patients as bipolar or having a mood disorder. One time, I unintentionally got into the crossfires of a conflict with another patient and was unjustly "put on the tray" and barred from eating with my peers for a day or two. All I did was comment on her outburst during dinner to my peers and she cursed me out and all the nurses sided with her. All I said to my peers while eating at the same table was: "What does that have to do with anything?" during the other patient's/peer's angry rant and I was not even talking to her. I told the charge nurse, Julie Muth, about it and she blatantly and rudely disregarded my complaint. They finally let me eat with others but had me sit with a staff member "just in case." Also, I've seen how a patient with bovine insulin sensitivity was still given the same type of injection and cornered by 5 staff members despite having a possible allergy to it. I found that incident to be very traumatizing, cruel, and inhumane. It shows just how little rights you have while you are institutionalized. Another appalling thing was the fact when we had a "day of beauty" another patient threw a nail file at me and the nurse didn't do a thing about it. Another thing that turned me off and left a bad taste in my mouth so to speak was the fact that they transferred me to St. Vincent's Hospital for the day or Partial Hospitalization Program, even despite my telling them that I had a bad experience there (in the Outpatient Program already), which they brushed off because sadly, back then, they had an agreement with them, not giving patients much of a choice for alternatives on where to turn to. All in all, as they say, there is always room for improvement or change. Since this organization has such a solid rep and prestige behind it, I hope they listen to what I have to say. I am writing to articulate serious concerns regarding the patient experience at MSK, Harrison,…read morespecifically pertaining to my scheduled appointments with my oncologist and subsequent infusion treatments. As a patient requiring frequent visits for blood work, and critical infusions, the efficiency and comfort of these visits are paramount to my ongoing care and well-being. All my experiences have been consistently characterized by excessively prolonged wait times, often extending two hours or more beyond my scheduled appointment times for both my physician and infusion therapy. This creates a deeply challenging and, frankly, disheartening situation, particularly given the already demanding nature of chemo treatments. A significant source of distress is the perception that patient safety and comfort, particularly for those with weakened immune systems like myself, are not being adequately prioritized. Being confined to crowded waiting areas for extended periods not only exacerbates physical fatigue but also presents a heightened risk of infection. The operational practices observed, such as seemingly pervasive overbooking and the resulting congestion in patient waiting rooms, strongly suggest that the current scheduling system is not effectively managing patient flow or capacity. This systemic inefficiency significantly detracts from the quality of care and transforms what should be a supportive and efficient medical environment into a source of considerable stress and anxiety. I am leaving MSK, Harrison and moving to an environment that is not only medically excellent but also compassionate, respectful of patient time, and prioritizes the safety and comfort of all individuals seeking care....unfortunately, this is not the place.

It does not deserve even one star but there is no option to give it 0 or -100. It is not safe here. They will place one single young female alone with men much older who the stuff does not care when you are harassed, sexually or in general. I was on the phone trying to call my father when a man who had been following me around for days grabbed me from behind, groped my body, as well as my neck. All while my father was hearing this on the phone. He was horrified and slept in the parking lot until any real medical staff would show up as they are hardly there and are gone if you are there during any weekend times. They do not listen to you, your safety seems to be of no concern to them. The condition of their units are atrocious. People were openly sick from the conditions, a place of despair with no one cleaning up blood, bathrooms, or general areas. I saw many people get physically sick from eating the only food you are forced to eat. The food was disgusting and they seemed to claim this place offers therapy but all they have you do is draw pictures like you are in kindergarten, host both sex yoga sessions in the hallways with men, who in front of me twice assaulted each other into a fight of who could stand directly behind the one or two young female patients there (I must have been 20, the other girl maybe 18-19), out of the rest mainly older men with serious aggressive anger issues with staff showing no concern of the fight results in you in the middle of it. There are no real therapists and any doctor or person with authority may give you 5 or less minutes and then abandon you. I believe they incited mental illness or worsened it for many people there, give almost everyone the same day time dose or 300 plus dose of antipsychotics despite some people being over 300 points vs some under 100. Even without being a doctor that did not seem normal at all You may get 20 minutes outside if it is not raining, they have enough staff, and if some idiot was found with a lighter or tried to smoke inside every single persons right to go outside was taken away, even if it occurred every time in the men's bathroom. Also, you are allowed to smoke outside but people have to ask the staff outside for a lighter if they happen to have their own personal one LOL. Sounds like prison, and ridiculous. It took the staff hours to secure the patient who assaulted me and all they did was put him a 30 minute "time out" and then let him about around everyone. Good luck making any phone calls, they just have coin operated phones and if anyone calls you most likely no one will tell you. I could literally write an entire book about the most awful and disgusting things I have seen occur in only a short time here. This place is a nightmare, poorly staffed, ran by awful doctors who have directly led to people losing their lives by medical reactions to treatments they provide that or have killed themselves. If you need help, do not ever go here, or send anyone you love here. If you did not already have PTSD when arriving here, you will Most likely leave with it a severe way.

When someone is in an emergent state and worried, you want to be surrounded with compassionate and caring people, and I experienced the complete opposite. My husband needed to come here and although he was the patient, as his wife, I figured I'd get some sort of greeting or direction as to where I should/could wait. Not one person spoke to me throughout the entire visit. I had to be the one to say "have a good night" when leaving to each person. I understand hospitals have strict restrictions on visitors still but there's a way to let someone know that. They called my husband to the back to get his vitals done and I wasn't sure if I could go with him or not, so I followed behind him and asked "can I come or should I stay" and the RN rudely said "have a seat" and slammed the door in my face. The nurse eventually came to get me and just said "come" and brought me to the "room" my husband was in. It wasn't even a room, it was a chair in a hallway. The doctor was nice but he didn't introduce himself at all, he just approached and I was confused and had to look at his name tag to figure out why he was approaching and speaking to us. Long story short, avoid this place.

I talked to doctors 2 times and a social worker once and on all 3 occasions they either were thoroughly confused or they just did not care about providing care and instead just lied to me. Of particular note was a Dr. Asmin or Asmen (I might be a little off on his name). He called me to report on the condition of my 80 year old mother after a painful fall. It's wonderful that he called, and if anything he said was honest I would be writing a positive review here. Instead he swore up and down that my mother must been out of her senses when she complained about the medical staff at night moved her injured legs with complete disregard for her immense pain. The doctor promised me that not only was my mother not in pain but that she was given morphine twice. He stated the exact times the medication was given as if he was double-checking to be safe. When I arrived at the hospital I double checked with the nurses, they confirmed that no pain medications were given. I called the doctor back with the nurse at my side, and the doctor said, "honestly, your mother isn't even my patient." Mind you, he had called me, unsolicited, to inform me of how well she was being treated, when the exact opposite was true. Your hospital is pretty, but I would never trust it in a real emergency. If you have family that ends up here, know that it's on you to verify the honesty of everything the staff claims. Be safe and verify everything. 3 lies in a row from doctors isn't an error, it's a pattern showing lack of care, sloppliness, and true incompetence.

I've always had strong experiences with NewYork-Presbyterian, so I came in expecting that same…read morelevel of professionalism and care. This location did not meet that standard. The doctors themselves were solid. The OB/GYN who cared for my wife stood out. Professional, attentive, and genuinely caring. Dr. Kevin Molyneux also made a strong impression. He was focused, clear, and took good care of my wife. Where things fell short was with the overall staff experience. Bedside manner across much of the team was lacking. Interactions felt dismissive at times, especially in the emergency department. Basic coordination also needs work. Housekeeping was requested multiple times and never showed up. Communication between shifts was inconsistent. There were gaps in handoffs and documentation, which made it harder to understand what had already been done and what came next. The facility itself feels dated and doesn't reflect the standard I associate with NYP. I'm giving 3 stars because the doctors delivered where it mattered most. But based on this experience, we would choose a Manhattan NYP location next time.

I will never forget the terrible treatment and attitude towards me when I had never seen this…read moredoctor before. In point of fact, I saw his assistant that Doctor spent three minutes with me and then charged my insurance full price. Something about male doctors seems to want to make them treat women less than human, just like the patriarchy we live in. We don't care how many stars they bought for themselves, but this was one of the worst experiences I've had at the doctor ever and that's saying something. Johnny here my wife is not a liar. She's telling you the truth. We suppose it depends on the doctor but one visit to this place was enough! Incredibly rude, unprofessional and the way they spoke to my wife I felt like punching them, but I don't punch people. I'm a big guy and I could hurt somebody. We don't believe in violence as a solution to anything, but sometimes yes, we get angry.
