I started going through a divorce Summer of 2015 and contacted James P. White. My work place was very close to his office and that was the reason I approached him. It was plain luck to find an attorney with so much integrity, eager to resolve issues, common sense, and knowledge of the law. My case was a Move Away trial. This is a very significant problem as the outcome would affect the lives of my children and many people around them. James advised me that it will be a long process, which it was. He carefully evaluated my citation and told me that we have a chance but there are many unknowns that could affect the court decision. The opposing council was the exact opposite of James. She wanted to fight about everything and seemed to have no intentions on resolving any issues. The trial ended up being five half day court sessions long. James kept me sane and always gave me an intelligent and logical advice. He told me what we could do and what the possible outcomes would be. Dealing with none sense is very difficult and frustrating. Going to court with the opposing counsel was a nerve-racking experience. We never knew what kind of dirt she would through at us. James had to often respond to her allegations on the fly and I was amazed by his thought process and calm and clear responses. For trial, he was very well prepared and his organizational skills are excellent. I am glad it is over and the outcome was in my favor. In summary James is an outstanding attorney and if you ever have to go through a such difficult process, he will have your best interests by heart. Thank you, James! read more

Doesn't fight for you or look out for your best interest. Pretty lazy for what he was paid. He couldn't even properly calculate child support. Stay away. read more

James is the best!! He comes from the planet of Honest! James is very well versed in the goings on and dynamics of many legal needs. He's got the pulse of what's happening, which makes him an outstanding attorney. He's always keeping monetary costs as low as possible. He's down-to-earth, super responsive and an upright individual. I went to USC Law then education. I have never used an attorney and have done all my own legal work. I knew I had a matter beyond me, and called James. Beyond a great mitigated outcome for us, it feels so good knowing we are supporting a wonderful family man and community member. He's a pillar of our Pleasanton Community. read more

Before I write the review; I do not give anyone 5 stars in my reviews, I have very few reviews with 5 stars. To give 5 stars I must be emotionally happy and the experience with the circumstances surrounding an attorney are never pleasant. That said, 4 stars is as good as it gets! You know how we always think that lawyers are sharks that want to take our money any way they can? Well, I was going through a legal separation with my ex, I had to find a lawyer and I found James White! Well let me tell you about James ... he is nothing like the stereotype lawyer! James is a skilled lawyer who got me everything I wanted in an agreement rather than dragging things to court. So even though he is not the stereotypical lawyer type, he is skilled and calmly and skillfully gets his clients taken care of. What makes James White such a wonderful lawyer in my opinion? Well, he is a person! He cares and builds a relationship with his clients. He gave me the time to explain what I wanted, he gave me the time to explain the legal jargon I had no idea what it meant. He understood that I was going through a difficult time and helped me as a person to get a smooth least stressful environment in his office. He put up with my young child playing with his books and his belongings at times, because he too is a father and knows that the best way to deal with it is to just make me feel comfortable. I highly appreciated that. He also gave me advise not just legal, but he gave me ideas on what to do next. I feel that James has become a friend as well as my lawyer. James, makes sure that you are always in the know. What he is doing. What his plan is. How he plans to get me my rights and more. He never made me feel pressured to choose a certain course, he was honest and clear. He called me after hours if needed be. He followed up, he prepared with me, he tried to do even more than what I expected. But you know what is so great? He always did not overcharge me, he advised me when things could be done in a more economical way as not to spend the little money I had on his service. I don't know if that doesn't make him honest and trustworthy, I am not sure what is. I trusted him immediately because he has this personality that makes you feel that you have someone to take care of you. During the agreement, I was willing to accept some things just to be done with the procedure and he advised me not to; he even told me that he insisted on adding a few things that would protect me. I would recommend James to anyone in need of legal care. Thank you James. I will always depend on him when it comes to this field of law. read more

He answers the phone and is very pleasant. He is very calm. He listened carefully. Gave me reasonable advice.

Dear Mr White, I see that your response is filled with untruths regarding the law and complying. I find it quite interesting that it was your clients actions that were unjust. Allowing my ex to fall delinquent on my home mortgage, the loss of over &100,000 to me on first house sale offer and failing to comply with a court order to uphold my medical insurance are just a few to mention. Be well Mr White and God bless. Thank you. read more

James P White attorney at law helped me with a very challenging situation with my child support case. James attention to detail, ability to think fast on his feet, understanding of the law and compassion for my case were unmatched. He was able to prove all claims by the other party to be false, which lead to my daughter receiving what is justly hers, financial support from her father. James is an exceptional attorney, who is results driven. Based on my personal success with my child support case, I would highly recommend him to you. read more

This guy is so very kind. He fields questions, doesn't hound or watch clocks for money. He's just a really nice guy and when you have the kinds of issues he helps with, you need a nice and well informed guide. He listens well, doesn't try to drive you in one direction or another. He really makes a point to mention and elevate the fact that civility and respectfulness in his work are important to him. He is also intelligent and well versed in the intricacies of his field. So he's not just a nice guy but the right nice guy to help when you need help. I recommend him highly. read more

Went in for a consultation a couple of weeks ago. James was very kind, understanding, and knowledgeable regarding my matter. Within minutes into the consultation it became clear that, for the time being, I wouldn't need legal representation. I've worked with lawyers and have been around them for many years. So believe me when I tell you that any other attorney would have disregarded me or cut the consultation short at that point. Not James. For that, I am truly grateful. If things don't turn out as planned in court he will be the first attorney I turn to for hire. Thanks, James. read more

I don't know exactly how I did so, but I feel so fortunate to have stumbled across James as I was searching for a custody lawyer. I have joked with him that he is the "anti-lawyer" stereotype. Especially if you have a Family Law case, I cannot imagine a better lawyer. My particular case might have ended better, (issues still pending) but I appreciate that he tells you the truth even when you might not want to hear it, and advises you forward through prudent and cautious actions. I thought he was phenomenal in representing me casually, but also in court. Patient, considerate, & thoughtful, James is honestly the antithesis of the the lawyer stereotype. The word "integrity" is seldom associated with lawyers, but James has it. If every lawyer conducted themselves as he does, the field would not have the reputation it does. read more

So here's my story I got married 2 weeks ago. Just a month before my wedding, my fiancé and I decided that we want to get a prenuptial agreement valid for the first years of our marriage. We found out that a lot of lawyer are not accepting to start the process in such a short time because they are afraid it won't be finished on time. Therefore I got short answers and not much interest from the lawyers side to our sensitive situation. Then I got a recommendations for James from a friend of mine that some how always find the best people out there for any job/situation that need to be handled carefully and professionally. James was very respectful listened to all my needs spend a long time explaining me about the process and what it requires that we will do if we want to succeed and get everything done on time. James gave me a very fair price even though it was under time pressure and he wouldn't take this jobs usually. He made a great contract for us and the best thing is that he did his best to make sure that during the entire process (not a very romantic thing to do for a couple about to get married) we are staying loving and that the vibes are good and that we are feeling good about everything and doing the right and the smart thing to do. Highly recommended! Thank you James and the office crew! read more

James did way more than I expected. I went into the office with perhaps a small view of what he could do for me. At the end of our consultation, my eyes had been opened. He was very patient and informed me of just how he was going to go about helping me. Then, just as he described, punctuated each step with follow up and new information. The whole process was expedited enormously with his help. I recommend this young man, without reservation. If you need legal advice, call him. That is all you need to know. read more

Very nice, helpful and knows his stuff! Seemed genuinely interested in my matter. The secretary / receptionist was awesome! Super clean and organized office. Very proactive in response times. Very reasonable price... Did not feel at all like he was trying to get over in any way, which is rare for a lawyer experience it seems. ;) Highly recommend!! read more

I called James on behalf of my brother and sister-in-law. We needed advice regarding my brothers adoption of his wives child from another relationship. Even thou they don't live in CA and James couldn't speak to the actual law, his advice was invaluable. I appreciated that he took 10 mins to of his day to help us out. He was kind and generous with his time and information. James, without a doubt, is the type of man you'd want as a lawyer. He not only gained my trust, but more importantly my respect. read more

My husband and I had been in a custody case for his daughter, we had a previous lawyer who had not given us good advice and did not properly inform us of any consequences due to the advice they gave...I called James and he gave me honest answers and opinions to what we should do he even drove all the way to Lake Tahoe to do a free consultation!! James is a very skilled lawyer. He helped me avoid losing $3000 to a false charge. James is an honest and warm hearted man. It's something really rare to see from layers. He truly cares about me and my feelings during the whole process. My case was actually a very small one, but James listened to all my questions, all my concerns and even emotional complains. He always answer my every question and make sure I understand every detail. He took time explain legal jargon that I barely knew about. He made sure I know both the best and worst possible outcome and gave very honest and straight forward cost estimation. James gave me suggestion that's best for my interest. I was afraid to use layer because I know many lawyers don't care about your interest. They just want to get as much money from you as possible. But James makes me believe that there're lawyers that are honest and care about their clients. I would recommend James White to anyone that need a lawyer! read more
