From the beginning, they were incredibly personable and patient, taking the time to explain the process, manage expectations, and coach me through each phase of what was a long and stressful case. When it finally came time for trial, they were outstanding. They tried the case in front of a jury and won, and even more telling, several jurors stayed afterward to personally share positive feedback about how decent, credible, and impressive Kent and Hamaseh were. That kind of response says everything about their integrity, preparation, and presence in the courtroom. I felt supported, well prepared, and confident because of them. Truly 10/10. I would absolutely use them again and recommend them without hesitation to anyone who needs strong, principled legal representation.

An email response from Daniel. And in his normal, calm manner he tells me what I can do - step-by-step. I can do this now because Daniel is there for me and with me. Divorce is hard enough as it is but I've been on this road for a way long time due to kids being involved. When it's a bad divorce, it carries through because you share kids. I like Walt personally. I think most people do. He does not go searching for a way to antagonize the other side. That I did not prevail in this or that particular is not the cause of this four-star review. There are points of complaint I am going to withhold because the ammunition an attorney can unleash on a client who complains on Yelp is formidable. An indignant attorney can post a reply that includes disclosure of private matters particular to a case. No California bar association will bat an eye at such conduct. (You may have already figured out that California bar associations resemble a mutual-protection guild. Or, hopefully, that has not been your experience.) Furthermore, Alameda County is a lower circle of hell if one is of the less-favored gender before the family court division. One must temper one's expectations to expect things that might be outrageous in other jurisdictions can be par for the course before the Alameda County Superior Court Family Court division. The representation entailed such over-charging, though, that I've no choice but do what is entirely uncomfortable and warn others that there are some things for which one must watch. The upfront fee representation was 3K. By the end net fees exceeded 12K. Strangely, his rate of fee charging started slowly but went almost exponential by the end. You may well wish to engage Walt, nonetheless, because the stable of attorneys available for hire in these matters is not up to the quality standards one would wish. If you do hire him: I advise against bringing in a custody recommending specialist under one's own hire as it furnishes justification for consults between that individual and the attorney that can lead to breathtaking billing results. The briefs he wrote were adequate but their contents were not possessed of the thoroughness for which a client might hope. Attention to detail was lacking but an attentive client can bring things to his attention that he can rectify. My final complaint was that he tried to get me to settle for terms proposed by the opposing side that were not remotely worth achieving--especially after having incurred 9K in fees. (Fee disputes brought against attorneys are arbitrated by...you guessed it...their fellow attorneys. For this reason I did not bother contesting the fees.) Let me end with some noteworthy positives: There was one important point that was theoretically important that Walt did achieve. He doggedly pursued this and got me one 'win.' He warned me the court's chosen custody recommending counselor Ms. Melinda Morris would be both generally biased, and gender-biased, and this prediction proved accurate on both points. The choice to proceed for the sake of the interests of the minor involved was solely mine. Furthermore, I had the impression he really tried for me. He was insistent speaking before the court where many attorneys will tend toward the passive--perhaps other attorneys desiring to stay on the judge's good side for the sake of the next time before that judge. In summary, if I had it to do over again I would get the scope of representation very clear along with the fee level associated with it--and be more insistent that he stick to an agreement than I was.

I have never ever dealt with anyone more greedy and least helpful! Forget about getting any legal advise or insights or competently responding and pushing back to the client's bullying spouse! Mr. Johnson would just step aside, let you do all the work, watch the bullying, and, oh, charge you by minutes for it! Mr. Johnson's professional work ethics are non-existent. He does copy and paste from other settlements of his clients and he is so sloppy that he even forgets he copy pasted so other clients names are even left in your settlement and you end up catching and bringing them to Mr. Johnson's attention and correcting them! I had to keep editing and correcting grammatical errors and even key settlement terms at every stage. He even told me if I edit my own settlement then the charges would be less - mind you on top of the $350 hourly rate he was already charging for the versions that had other client's names, was full of grammatical sentence errors, and absolutely misrepresented information. Even the final settlement judgement signed by the court has mistakes and false represented sections that another professional found and I brought to Mr. Johnson's attention - had no remediation offer or a response! I could have gotten more meaningful legal advise and quality of settlement through a paralegal and for under $1000 while I spent over $15,000 with Walter Johnson! The only thing Mr. Johnson does very promptly and diligently is craftily bill you for minutes that are unsubstantiated in your experience working with him. Overall, sheer LACK of ANY legal advise and representation except for filling papers in court for which I had to constantly remind and keep following up on! Save your money for another attorney or go with a competent paralegal - Divorce Docs & Mediation in San Ramon - is a competent prelegal resource that a friend of mine used and had better and quicker legal settlement done in just $850, in fact! Heck, you would be better off doing the divorce on your own even, but do NOT use Walter Johnson for your divorce/child custody settlement matters.

Today I was fired as a client after calling out Koblin's office for their mistake. A mistake that THEY BILLED ME for! His staff, which doesn't seem to communicate well together, sent out an incorrect judgment packet to be signed In February. They sent out the incorrect packet, after no correspondence back with me for three months. Without a doubt, I feel this office had zero urgency to complete my divorce . In fact, I feel like they are doing all they can to elongate the process so they can drain more money from me. Extremely unprofessional. This whole case, I have been an after the thought for this Laywer and his so-called team. My ex and I have been in complete agreement to settle, however, we are four years into the case and nothing. Kennedy, has a decent relationship with the judges. His staff has messed up on multiple occasions and will never apologize. In fact, Angelina is extremely passive aggressive and should not be working in the legal field. After reading multiple complaints from other people, it is very clear to tell everybody is talking about her. The way, Mr. Koblin defends her snarky manner, gives me no choice, but to definitely not recommend this legal team. A huge waste of time and money.

If you happen to find yourself in the unfortunate situation of needing an advocate in the course of separation, do yourself a favor and get in touch with Cindy. When Shakespeare said, "Though she be but little, she is fierce," he was talking about someone like Cindy. Diminutive in stature but so sharp when it comes to knowing the law and articulating in court in my best interest. I know this isn't a very kind thing to say in public but she mopped the floor with my ex's lawyer. Because of her the judge awarded me everything I'd asked for and then some. The shellacking of the first lawyer was so effective that my ex went out and got a second lawyer after firing his first! That in itself, should speak volumes. He went on to waste another 20k with another area lawyer and Cindy never once faltered. If you need someone in your corner, an advocate who really goes to bat for you, I can't think of anyone better. Aside from that, she will not waste your money billing you with all kinds of nonsense. I am so happy to have gotten to work with her and I hope I never need her skill set again but should I ever, I would literally beg for Cindy if that's what it took. I'm not sure if Emma, her paralegal at the time of my case, still works at this office because I know she was mentioning retirement but if she is you've really hit the lottery. These women are empathetic and genuine. I am so lucky to have been referred to Cindy. Good luck out there if you're looking up custody/divorce attorneys but truly, Cindy is a beast (I mean that in the best way possible). Thank you for everything, Cindy!
