An ever changing variety of guest beers makes this a constant favourite with CAMRA members. Decked out in an old junk shop style of trinkets and oddities that the owners have come across over the years, Ye Olde Vic is one of the friendliest pubs you're ever likely to go into. You're always likely to get a witty repose from Steve the Landlord and a smile from Landlady Johanne. But evenings mid week is the best time to go in my book. The food is really good value for money, curry club, grill night and sunday lunch are always packed. There is family seating at the rear of the building but kids have to leave by 8pm, there's a great choice of drinks real ale with 3/4 guest ales a month, spirits, cocktails and soft drinks. This place is fairly well looked after and quite big. They serve food until 10 but any children have to leave by 8pm. The food on the whole here is ok, but knowing that half the food is microwaved is never going to result in fantastic food. If you pick stuff that can't be microwaved then it's obviously a bit better!!! I do eat there regularly though so it obviously isn't that bad!! They do some great deals on both food and drinks and everything is cheap anyway!! There is an outside seating area for any smokers, and the staff are on the whole very friendly. On friday and saturday nights however, its quite a scally magnet, with groups of local 'kids' filling the place. It does create quite a good atmosphere though as there are a range of people and ages that go drinking there. Only downfall is that they don't play music - which is rubbish for a place to drink at weekends!!

The services isn't that good either - you don't feel welcome if your not local. The locals don't help the situation, drunk and disorderly insulting the customers - we didn't feel at all comfortable. Prices are average and the drinks selection is poor, but all in all there are plenty of other pubs in the area within walking distance so I would avoid this one.
