I seek churches that allow women in leadership and affirm LGBTQIA members and gives them positions of leadership as well. Left Hand meets that criteria and, as a non-denominational church, the services are very familiar to me (I have attended mostly evangelical/non-denominational churches). Right away I felt welcome, and I started attending the monthly community potluck dinners, where I got to know people really well. I love how down-to-earth and easygoing everyone is. My husband is not a church-goer but even he likes to go to services sometimes and attend the Community Dinners. I recommend this church for anyone who has felt limited or ostracized from previous faith communities, or for anyone who is looking for a church that disrupts the status quo of Christian culture. I am including a photo of their ethos, which succinctly establishes their claim that everyone is not only welcome, but celebrated and affirmed. The worship service is contemporary and very topical. The pastors are not shy about addressing present-day issues that impact local, national, and global communities. The music is also very engaging and eclectic, led by a crazy gifted woman named Heatherlyn. I have brought a few visitors with me and all of them wish they had a Left Hand Church in their hometowns, too!

We followed him down the street one day...and that day changed our lives when we met the co-pastor's husband who told us all about this super chill, all-inclusive, LGBTQ+ affirming church. We've attended every Saturday since the very second service! This church is so focused on the true message of Jesus - kindness, compassion, acceptance, joy, and gentleness. I love the passage from our Ethos, which we say at every service, "...LGBTQ+ and straight here, there is no hate here..." We genuinely invite anyone in - it doesn't matter your personal religion or lack thereof. We're a bunch of really good people who strive to hold each other up and never seek perfection, only love! I'm so grateful for Left Hand, my dear church.

The staff and volunteers are so welcoming. Our kids love the youth group and have made some lasting friendships. Being with the family, I didn't see much of the actual church except for the main entrance area, crying room, and the alter. Being new, I kindly asked a suited gentlemen that may have had a name tag on (I'm a bit unsure) where the kid friendly room was and we were then escorted by a young parishioner. How accommodating. The room is seemingly well isolated from the rest of the church which can be a good thing when your kids can get a little crazy. Not a huge room but definitely works. I'd recommend getting there early to secure a spot. It was packed when we got there right on the dot. As for the lobby area, they have a manned front desk/information area which is awesome. A hall is attached to main entrance and easily located. I also loved the religious goods store that was open during mass. One of the other churches I went to had their store closed during mass to prevent people from spending "mass time" browsing. I, on the other hand, loved it because the baby was cranky so I carried her as I looked through their goodies. Their bathrooms are descent but I assume the ladies restroom can get a little crowded after mass or during events. The staff that I encountered were very nice and the decor isn't too dated but then again I'm not one to judge a church by their cosmetic appearance. I plan to come back this coming Sunday for Easter and get more acquainted with St. John.

I visited here for 5 p.m. Mass on the first week of Advent and the trees outside were all perfect and lit up for Christmas. When I'm visiting Longmont I prefer this Catholic church to another Catholic church I've been to (I think it's Light of Christ - it was in the weird late 60s round buildings on Hover) since that one was way too conservative. The officiant was from Uganda and was pretty good; however, the homily was pretty forgettable. (Also, unlike a few foreign-born priests I've had elsewhere he was totally understandable.) The Mass was a quick one - about 52 minutes. (So it's a good one to go to if you don't want to miss a football game.)

Grace Place is a great place for people in all walks of faith (even non-believers). Grace Place has a great program for people just starting their walk with Christ or people returning to it called "Starting Point" where no question is off limits. Grace Place is open and welcoming to people of all walks of life, morals, creeds, and pasts. The above all message I have received from this church is that people are people and we are all sinners but through the perfect work of Jesus, gods love conquers all. Pastor Clay and the rest of the pastoral staff are open minded, real people with real pasts and understand people with real problems. The kids programs are also really great. I have been to many churches in my life and this is the first one that felt like home to me and my family. I would also like to mention that the cafe has amazing food and the coffee is above the level of most "church coffees."
