My hubby ordered a patty melt with curly fries and I got a chicken wrap with crinkle fries. Both entrees were good, but neither of us were super impressed with the fries. We were a little late picking up so our food wasn't super hot anymore, but I'm sure that was partially our fault. Overall, I'd be willing to try Gilmore's again in person.

The wife had the pork chop sandwich which she said was very heavy on the seasoning. Skip the fries and order something else. (2-stars for food) Service was slow, catered to the drinking crowd more than the dining crowd but that's typical. Perhaps because it was Labor Day that the service was slow, good excuse. (2-stars for service) Moon Tower sits right on the Illinois River, so the saving star was for the view. (3.5-stars for ambiance) The crowd was polite and courteous, music was loud in the bar area where a conversation was a bit difficult without shouting at your friends. Overall, a onetime visit was enough.

Once inside and once outside...the food was fantastic. Definitely get the frilled shrimp inside a carved out oineapple...my all time favorite. Dinner service both nights was incredibly quick..we ate and were having our tables cleared in under 45 min....and got sat right away even on Labor Day Weekend with no reservations....though it was pretty busy. TBH the community doesn't deserve a spot this good, and we were lucky enough to search it out and find it! Do yourself a favor and hit this place up if you're in the region...everything else qround doesnt even compare.

Service 5 stars. Waitress did not rush us and answered various questions about the drink menu offerings as well as the food menu. A lot of appetizers to choose from. The manager or owner stopped by the table twice. Not exactly sure who he was as he didn't introduce himself. Just asked how we were. Food 3 stars: I settled on the fish and chips. I liked the light breading on the mild fish and it wasn't greasy. The sauce was great too. Coleslaw was lackluster and the side of fries were seasoned; however, they were not crisp and were flaccid. The other guests said the same thing about the fries. Overall the food could have been hotter in my opinion, The others had the Tenderloin, a burger and Caribbean chicken sandwich. Fries are the side that is included with the sandwiches. A blackberry mule, blueberry lemon martini. Arnold Palmer, Pepsi and MGD bottled beer were the drinks ordered by the guests.

They were closing early that day, but to my surprise the people and the owner were very nice. They stayed open long enough to talk to me about the area , and answered any questions I had. Even gave me a few drinks on the house. The hospitality was amazing, something I'm not use to and very much appreciated. Especially after a rough year for business being closed because of the pandemic, the owner was very kind. This is a beer and shot kinda place and town, it's a very clean bar, friendly staff and people, beautiful water view. They serve food here, drinks are an awesome price, they always have entertainment or something cool going on at the bar on the weekends. A definitely must go to place , if you're ever in town. I'm definitely a returning customer. Thank you, Chad, Becky & Taylor.

Slide Inn has taken over what used to be a Chillicothe icon, Blarney Castle…read more With promises that the food, most importantly the FAMOUS Blarney's pizza, would stay the same, Slide Inn took over. I went with an open mind. I grew up eating Blarney's pizza. It was the go-to place after every game and for every class reunion. I noticed little had changed decor wise with Slide Inn's take over, a few big screen tv's and a few sports posters and that was it. Sadly the same 40+ yr old booths with broke springs and wooden chairs remained. Maybe a tv or two less and new seating would have helped. At any rate, myself and my party (my hub and a couple who were friends of ours) were greeted promptly and seated. It was mid afternoon so it was pretty slow. We of course ordered the famous pizza. My friends were originally from Chilli and were excited to enjoy a treat they had missed. We were sorely disappointed. The pizza, when it arrived, was rather limp, and looked like it could have benefitted from a few more minutes in the oven. The crust was not crisp as it used to be, and it tasted as if someone had gone too heavy with the salt. mentioned this to our server who tossed her head, rolled her eyes and offered half heartedly to put it back in the oven to "cook it a little more for ya" Wow don't out yourself out or anything. We finished our drinks and took the rest of our food with us. Since I knew the new owner I approached her to let her know of our experience. She didn't seem like she was concerned and indicated no one else had complained so it must be my problem. So, looks like I will continue to mourn and miss Blarney's pizza.
