No worries 'cuz you're in luck: there are several drop boxes located around Whatcom County, including this very handy drive-up spot near the main courthouse downtown. The easiest way to access the drop box is via the well-marked entrance off of Grand Street between Central and Flora. Look for the handy sidewalk signage marking the entrance, ease your car into line with other voters, and sidle on up to the weathered blue drop box to insert your ballot through the handy slot. You don't even have to get out of your car! And after doing your civic duty, simply make a quick turn to the exit on Flora Street. Pro tip: feeling like a little liquid courage before or after voting? Artifacts Wine Bar and the Grand Avenue Ale House are located within half a block of the drop box. There's a great taco truck nearby, too!

Located in the Whatcom County South Parking Lot (behind 306 Flora Street, the Ballot Drop-Off Box is a convenient way to drop off your ballot. Although the Ballot Drop-Off Box is a little hard to find the first time it is centrally located and does not require voters to pay for parking. On election day the County Auditors Office provides workers onsite to keep the traffic moving.

I strongly do NOT recommend attorney Michael P. Brodsky. I…read morehired him to handle a speeding ticket. Other than initially informing me that appearing in court was an option, he rarely followed up on anything proactively. I had to initiate contact every time by emailing him with questions. Shockingly, he even got the court date wrong. He first told me the hearing was scheduled for a Monday. When I asked if other dates were available, he said court only happens on Wednesdays. I pointed out that the current date was a Monday, and only then did he admit he made a mistake. The worst part? On the day of the hearing, he told me he might attend via Zoom. In the end, he neither showed up in person nor joined the Zoom meeting. After the hearing ended, I emailed him asking where he was--he replied saying he was stuck in traffic and would be there in about five minutes. I told him the hearing was already over. After that, he completely stopped responding. No apology, no explanation--just silence. Once again, I absolutely do NOT recommend this lawyer.

Sticky divorce? Yup, there's someone to talk to. Neighbor keeps stealing your chicken eggs? Check, check, check. The only drawback to Street Law is that it's so immensely popular a line forms long before the doors even open. I arrived 30 minutes before opening and was around the 10th person to sign in. By the time 1pm rolled around the hallway was full of people in need of legal advice. At 1 they opened the doors and we were led inside a large meeting room, where I waited about another hour to see the attorney. So, while it's not the most efficient use of your time, it's definitely nice to get pro guidance from someone without having to shell out hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars in legal fees. Shoutout and thank you to the lawyers who volunteer their time on a Saturday to help people in need of good advice!

I accept what a person says is their truth but doesnt have to be mine and have dealt with many…read moredifferent Public Service offices in different countries. As appropriate I researched and consulted before starting a home project. The consultant I used I seemed to get along well with but thats a different review. When put in touch with the staff of this government office I found them a contrast to what gossip I had heard in they are friendly, dedicated and collaborative...like minded project successful folks. The various phases and processes needed to bring my project to full completion were laid out and they accepted I had a Land Use Plan; the exact dimensions are needed but I couldnt do that because the survey pins were missing on the West side of the property and I was on a wait list with a couple surveyors. As much as I would like Im trying to dispel the myth that, at least these professionals, this planning department are about everything you would ever want to deal with; that the delays in my project are of an unprofessional neighbor creating painful drama in a denial of water and power to and extort money ($10 000) out of a physically disabled person (me)...but this office has nothing to do with it in any way shape or form.
